One person died and two others were injured after a crash in Kingfield on Tuesday, according to the Franklin County Sheriff's Office.

One person died and two others were injured Tuesday in a Kingfield crash.

A 1997 Subaru Legacy driven by Leroy Gordon, 76, of Farmington was traveling south on Route 27 about 5:30 p.m. when it lost traction and skid into the path of a northbound tractor-trailer driven by Cedrick Allaire, 25, of Westbury, Quebec, according to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Passenger Seth Gordon, 28, of Farmington died at the scene, the sheriff’s office said. Another passenger, 18-year-old Scott Kidder of Farmington, and Leroy Gordon were seriously injured. Both men were transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington.

The driver of the tractor-trailer was uninjured.

Speed does not appear to have been a factor in the crash, the sheriff’s office said, adding that road conditions were poor because of Tuesday’s snowstorm that dumped several inches of fresh snow over the western mountains.

The crash remains under investigation.

It was the second fatal crash to occur during Tuesday’s storm. An Oakland man died Tuesday morning after a box truck crossed the centerline on Route 3 in Liberty and struck his pickup truck head-on.
