It came down to the buzzer in the matchup between No. 5 Portland and No. 4 Deering, with Portland narrowly defeating Deering 51-50 in the AA North quarterfinals Friday night.
Portland’s Stillman Mahan made the 3-point shot that just beat the buzzer. Portland’s season record improves to 11-7. Deering’s season ends at 11-7.

Portland will go on to face Bangor on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 3:30 p.m. at the Cross Arena in Portland.
Deering was eliminated from the 2018 tournament in the AA North quarterfinals after falling to Oxford Hills 57-52. Portland made it to the semifinals before being ousted by Windham in a tight 55-53 battle.
