A Cornville man died and a Skowhegan man was hospitalized Wednesday after they were pinned under the collapsed roof of a mobile home they were tearing down, according to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office.

Adam Fine, 21, of Cornville and Nathan Shaw, 22, of Skowhegan were tearing down Fine’s mobile home when the roof collapsed. Fine died in the incident, and Shaw was transported to Redington-Fairview General Hospital in Skowhegan for non-life threatening injuries, according to the sheriff’s office.

The mobile home had been unoccupied for a long time. Fine and Shaw were in the process of tearing down the tin sheathing and other materials before the collapse. Police arrived to find all interior walls of the home demolished.

There was a significant snow load on the roof. The entire structure had shifted backward as it fell down.

The Skowhegan and Madison fire departments assisted the sheriff’s office and Cornville Fire Department on the scene.
