The Augusta Fire Department responded to a vacant house fire Friday night.
The fire department responded to the fire on North Belfast Avenue around 8 p.m. The high winds reportedly made the flames even stronger.
The fire went to two alarms and required assistance from Togus, Chelsea, Gardiner, Winthrop and Vassslboro fire departments.
With no hydrants in the area, the road was shut down for tanker trucks to shuttle water into the scene.
There were no injuries, but the fire spread to nearby woods and burnt about one acre of land.
State fire marshals continue to investigate the cause of the fire.

Nearby property owners say the owner lives in an elderly care home and was not here for the fire. Cleanup crews aren’t on scene yet. pic.twitter.com/q5Ql1G064o
