BANGOR, Maine — Bangor High School was evacuated Wednesday morning because of a bomb threat, according to police.
School staff received the threat at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, according to Bangor police Sgt. Tim Cotton.
Standard protocol prompted evacuation of the building, Cotton said.
As of 11:40 a.m. Wednesday, the building was deemed safe and students returned to classes, the sergeant said.
The incident is being investigated by Bangor police and the school department.
Cotton later said that the detective assigned to the case told him that the Bangor threat was similar to threats received in Portland as well as in New Hampshire and New York.
