Hilda Howe, 36, of Farmington Falls, died after her Mercury SUV flipped over several times on Tower Road in Vienna on Wednesday morning, Feb. 6, 2013. Police say speed was likely a factor in the crash.

VIENNA, Maine — A Farmington Falls woman was killed early Wednesday morning in an accident on Tower Road in the Kennebec County town of Vienna, police said.

Department of Public Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said speed is likely a factor in the crash that killed Hilda Howe, 36.

Trooper Diane Perkins-Vance noted in her police report that Howe lost control of her Mercury SUV just after midnight, according to McCausland.

Howe’s vehicle flipped over several times before coming to rest against some trees, McCausland said. The impact threw Howe out of the vehicle, and she wasn’t wearing her seat belt. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mt. Vernon Rescue and the Vienna Fire Department assisted state troopers at the crash scene, McCausland said. Perkins-Vance continues to investigate the crash.
