AUGUSTA, Maine — Fervent supporters of Ron Paul assumed control of the Maine Republican Party convention on Saturday with hopes of using their new power to send a majority of delegates to represent Maine at the national convention.
The narrow election late Saturday morning of Paul delegates as convention secretary and convention chairman allowed Paul’s supporters to shift the event away from the Maine GOP establishment.
Maine Republican Party Chairman Charlie Webster had predicted in an email last week to Republicans that Paul supporters would attempt to assert their authority at the convention and that’s exactly what happened.
“Takeover is strong word; we’re all registered Republicans here,” said Matthew McDonald of Belfast, a Waldo County Republican and a Paul supporter. “But Chairman Webster called Ron Paul supporters wingnuts, he saw us as a fringe minority; now we hold the power of the convention.”
It was a major symbolic coup for Paul supporters and a bit of a letdown for Mitt Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee. Ironically, Romney’s brother, Scott Romney, was scheduled to deliver the convention’s keynote address on Saturday evening.
Rep. Jeffrey Timberlake, R-Turner, said this was his third state convention but he hasn’t experienced anything like what happened on Saturday.
“What has taken six or seven hours today is normally done in 15 to 20 minutes,” he joked. “I think this is the last stand of the Paul supporters and it’s certainly their right to do it. This is a prime example of why we should go to a primary instead of caucus.”
Even before the convention kicked off in earnest Saturday morning, there was a buzz around the event.
Would Webster face a backlash for apparently bending the rules to name a convention chairman ahead of time and not at the convention? Would Ron Paul supporters “take over” the convention, as Webster feared? Would what is supposed to be a party-building gathering devolve into a fractured mess?
Those questions were answered by lunchtime: Yes, yes and yes.
In extremely close votes late Saturday morning, convention-goers elected Ron Morrell, a Paul delegate, as secretary and then elected Brent Tweed, also a Paul delegate, as chairman.
Both were picked ahead of candidates that had been endorsed by the party establishment and those votes signaled a shift in how the convention would unfold.
After hours of confusion, a break for lunch and a 20-minute speech by U.S. Sen. Susan Collins, the convention resumed with Tweed holding the gavel instead of Webster.
From there, things didn’t get any smoother.
Convention-goers began the process of nominating delegates to represent Maine at the national GOP convention in Tampa in late August.
Maine gets 24 delegates. Three delegates already were spoken for before the convention. Those spots go to the state party’s national committeeman, national committeewoman and the current chairman, Webster.
Six more delegates will be picked by the congressional district committees — three from the 1st District, three from the 2nd — and that is expected on Sunday.
That leaves 15 at-large delegates that were to be selected on Saturday. Paul needs 13 of them to break for him and if that happens, it means he would effectively win Maine. It also would reverse a February announcement by the Maine GOP that Romney had won the state, according to a controversial presidential preference poll that helped galvanize Paul’s supporters.
Time seemed to be running out on Saturday for those at-large delegates to be selected. That piece of business likely will be decided either late Saturday evening or on Sunday morning.
Asked whether the convention chaos would hurt the party, Timberlake said he thinks just the opposite will happen.
“At the end of the day, we’re all going to be united,” he said.
The convention began early Saturday with more than 3,000 Maine Republicans filing into the Augusta Civic Center. The event continued throughout the day on Saturday and was scheduled to resume on Sunday.
In addition to Scott Romney and Collins, the featured speakers on Saturday included U.S. House candidates Jonathan Courtney and Patrick Calder in the 1st District and Kevin Raye and Blaine Richardson in the 2nd District.
On Sunday, Gov. Paul LePage, Sen. Olympia Snowe and the six Republicans who want to take over her seat are expected to address the convention.

Now THAT’s democracy at work. Got to love it.
“A Democracy is two wolves & a lamb deciding on what to have for dinner. A Republic, is a well armed lamb, contesting the vote.” – Ben Franklin
“Don’t believe everything you read on the internet.” -Abraham Lincoln
cute…
You get the gold star of the day award…good answer.
Silly and irrelevant.
Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear attributed to Ben Franklin.
And now with photoshop, you can’t even believe half of what you see.
I was just wondering if that story about O going to A in the middle of the night was true. That speech looked like it was in a sound stage setting to me. And who flies that far these days to sign a paper? Kind of stretches the imagination.
Excellent Point. I thought that I was the only one that picked up on the flakiness of that back drop and the absence of foot shadows. What really gave it away to a well trained eyes like mine was the immediate distortion of O’s outline. You May Fool Some of the People Some of the Time But You Can’t Fool Them All the Time.
We as a Country are so screwed up now.
At least my Birth Certificate is Real, Officially Documented and not Doctored.
May God Bless US All!!!
Ron Paul Shall Stand Tall come November.
If Mitt Romney is the Republican’s Answer, It Must Have Been A Very Stupid Question, Just Remember ! ! ! ! !
Abraham Lincoln was president when the trans-atlantic cable was laid. Never knew that until recently. Somehow makes him feel more ‘modern’ to me. I agree, your quote was fun.
“The water in the right hand well is better than the water to the left .”Democrat President Buchanan to Abraham Lincoln on inauguration day concerning the quailty of the water at the White House. Lincoln’s son Robert was evesdropping on the two men hoping to hear some profound advice from the 15th President.
He also did not vote for Barak Obama !
But he may have voted for Mitt in one of his prior flips, or was it a flop?
I just heard that Lincoln wasn’t assassinated, they’re now saying he shot himself when he realized what the Republican Party was going to become?
I hope that’s a real quote. Well done!

“Original sin was as ridiculous as imputed righteousness.” – Benjamin
Franklin
Ben also said
Rebellion to tyrants is obedience to God.
This will be the best security for maintaining our liberties. A nation
of well-informed men who have been taught to know and prize the rights
which God has given them cannot be enslaved. It is in the religion of
ignorance that tyranny begins.
“He who shall introduce into public affairs the principles of Christianity, will revolutionize the world”
He who shall introduce into public affairs the principles of primitive Christianity will change the face of the world
“Fear God, and your enemies will fear you.”
Patrick Henry
“It
cannot be emphasized too clearly and too often that this nation was
founded, not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religion, but on
the gospel of Jesus Christ. For this very reason, peoples of other
faiths have been afforded asylum, prosperity, and freedom of worship
here.”
Seems you have failed in your point
That’s pretty good considering Ben was a lifetime member of the Hellfire Club. Good Christian!
I think your fail is confusing the ‘church’ with Christian values. Jesus showed forgiveness when others would have used the Old Testament to justify stoning a woman to death.
How many wars have been started in the name of Christianity? How many people were tortured? How many centuries of ignorance and death? How much money and property have churches amassed? Our founding fathers may have held Christian values, but they understood well the tyranny of the church. This is why they created a constitution.
Look at how many Native Americans were slaughtered by God-fearing Christians merely because those Christians were trying to acquire more land, more money and more material possessions.
thank you for that poignant reminder.
I read that, when the Christians landed in the New World a priest would go to the shore and read in Latin (most Christian didn’t understand Latin, either) the Bible to the curious natives who had assembled there, and instructed the people to fall to their knees in obedience.
When the native peoples did not do as they were told to do in (Latin? which must have sounded like gibberish), the Spanish would unleash their massive dogs upon the men and women there, disemboweling them on the beach. These dogs are the precursors to today’s mastiff and were specifically bred for this horror.
Yes, Christianity is a beacon of love and light.
Jesus, yes.
Christianity, he77 no.
Sorry for that way too graphic reply. Painful to read, but we white people need to know from where we came.
I do, but I bet Charlie Webster doesn’t!!!
I think you mean well and like that Paul is doing well, AND you need to express it as ” this is what a Constitutional Republic looks like when the PEOPLE are involved and educated and care.
I like it that the Ron Paul delegates Occupied the convention. And took control. That is what democracy looks like.
Charlie Webster will be tarred and feathered today … payback time CHARLIE !!
The Republican party is tar and feathering itself. How could anyone vote Republican when they are a house divided, and on a collision course with a wall of insanity?
Well…I look at it more as a purging of RINOish power grabbers. Kind of a blood letting. It’s long over due. Ron Paul is about to show the country what unelectable really looks like when Romney emerges as one of the wealthiest most unelectable people in recent history. And Ron Paul has support in just about every group in America which combined will defeat the Obombinator.
That is why Romney is there as a candidate. They know they can’t beat Obama so they put a loser in and save the real runners for next time.
The real loser is already in the White House, so any looser will be the American People
You sound bit looser than most yourself.
The only ones really lost are those who vote for Obama and are and have been fooled by him
i’m a loser! i’m a loser!
Please look up the word “loose”.
Then to learn the meaning of loser — look in a mirror.
Maybe you should, since your so caught up by it
Oh. how about some cheese to go with the whine. Obama will hammer RoMONEY-the-corporate-phony and all your ALEC/Koch Brother slimey corporate money isn’t going to save your sad pathetic sinking Goofy Old Party ship. Here in Maine, Charlie-The-Numbskull-Webster along with LeBUFFOON and their Goofy Old Party are going to have a bad, bad election night come November. And you know it.
Corporate, yea just look who backs Obama. Yea right, we will be in far worse mess, and you will be wondering why and thinking did I really vote for him.
Congratulations ! I now appoint you Name-Caller-in-Chief of the week of the BDN comment section. And you actually beat out other competitive “hate the GOP” name-callers. Enjoy your Chief Name-Caller crown.
The real imposter is, indeed, sitting in the Oval Office…. but, the real losers are the American people. It might possibly require our own military to protect and defend us from this Insurrectionist-in-Chief and his Zionist Czars. They are planning to support and foment as much unrest and upheaval as possible, leading into this summer and up to the November election. The parasites that have wrapped their tyrannical tentacles around the throats of the American people will complete the suffocation process if Barack Imposter Obama gets 4 more years.
Barack Obama does not support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; He is the Domestic Enemy.
And now along comes Ron Paul supporters (who evidently haven’t a clue of the danger that lies ahead , if the Alinsky agitator from Chicago is re-elected)…along they come to crash the Maine Republican Convention to make a statement and exact revenge on Romney supporters and the circus that occurred at the earlier caucuses…… and they brought along their own Boss Tweed.
Ron Paul is the only one that can win and if you’re thinking is the logical source. That is if the Constitution actually means anything to you….
i think it is because the GOP is finally coming to terms with its two halves.
the social conservatives who want laws regulating morality and the libertarians who know that is unconstitutional.
Those two philosophies are in opposition. How does a candidate appeal to both halves?
They can’t. So…Romney it is. The White Obama. sheeeesh.
Who Ron Paul when he’s 80? Certainly not Rand.
Its time to give it up and understand that the choice is the social converative GOP who want to regulate everyone’s bedrooms and tax breaks for the rich and Democrats who want a tax system that is socially just.
Pretty clear choices. How many more mansions do Mitt and the rich need? If supply side economics worked then Maine should be swimming in money. Lot’s of rich folks here, but no new jobs.
No need to gather feathers, we’ve always known that when faced with any form of competition old break or change the rules Charlie Webster was already a chicken.
Because what you said of Republicanism is so much ‘less’ true of the country in general, how could anyone vote for ANYONE, Rep or Dem, who’s committed to the same old stuff that’s gotten us into this mess?
Democrats are a compliant bunch and never question what they are told to do.. In all honesty only one democrat makes all the decisions, the rest say, aye!
With the Repugs, the Koch Bros make all the decisions. They have Congress in their back pocket. That’s why the Repubs are fighting like Hell to preserve the Bush tax breaks for the top 1%. They know who butters their bread.
Your statement proves you let others think for you and don’t do any research for yourself
this is such an ironic comment given the way the republicans have behaved since obama was elected. that have flat-out refused to do the work of the people. en mass.
You mean how the Democrats failed to pass a budget – even when they COMPLETE control of congress. Having a budget isn’t the work of the people?
And how is it that you have failed to notice this same trait among the members of the Republican party?
The Democrat party was divided between Hillary Clinton and Obama too! I remember watching the caucus on TV with baited breath!
Bated.
The correct spelling is actually bated breath but it’s so common these days to see it written as baited breath
that there’s every chance that it will soon become the usual form, to
the disgust of conservative speakers and the confusion of dictionary
writers.
http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-bai1.htm
“Baited Breath” brings weird pictures to mind……..{~;>
That is true! I think it is going to be Obama again this time again and Hillary next.
The Democrats are divided too, but the opposition is AFRAID to speak up against Obama and the thugs who surround him.
Better in a house divided then in a house that has been colliding.
I know right. Sounds good to me. Ron Paul supporters are just going to hand the election to Obama.
The fissure of the Republican Party commences as predicted. How sweet it is!!
Oh please! This is a re-energizing of the party and the fact that the liberty slate took the day is nothing but good! The old guard aren’t going to leave and the new blood isn’t leaving either since they get to steer the agenda. Dream on! This was the birth of a new Republican Party in Maine and I couldn’t be more tickled as someone who attended the same convention a decade ago as a college Republican. GO RON PAUL! GO PAUL LEPAGE! :-D
New guard, old guard, whatever, it’s still a bunch of old men in ill fitting suits. What employer of any company would hire a 76 year old as their CEO? … by the way of the current crop of soft-shoe artists the Republicans have dancing around, Paul isn’t all that bad, as far as the other cretin you mentioned goes …he’s a lame duck come Nov 7.
There’s an awful lot of under 40 voters in favor of Ron Paul. just sayin’
Agreed, panic has away of driving people to do things they normally
wouldn’t do. If the Republican’s don’t figure out a way to be less extreme they will be spending a long, long time wondering in the wilderness. After all they’ve driven out all who they deemed not extreme enough, now they’re stuck with Mitt, and “rightly” so. I love democracy!
YES!
A re-energized libertarian wing of the party. Your social conservative platform mates are not so eager. They’d rather see the American Taliban/Christian right in control than a constitutional nation.
So the Ron Paul leadership said earlier this was not going to happen. So not only are they selfish wing nuts but LIARS too
waste of money
Try forcing George Bush III at us. Should have expected it
Agreed
:-D . So long Charlie. Am I celebrating too soon? He doesn’t have a job in politics anymore right? He can no longer steal votes from the people of Maine right?
I am looking forward to seeing this play out and how it is going to be spun. I have no faith that Webster will be gone until LePage leaves too. Probably something that needs to be thought about. I can’t imagine the R’s putting him up again to run for governor…
Why not? Lepage seems to be trying to do exactly what he said he would do.
Prediction: Webster will replace Dale whatsherface over at Maine State Housing or some other commissioner so old Penguin can keep him at his beckon call. Don’t worry it will be something totally corrupt.
Once Websters power is gone, what use is he to anyone?.. Politicans are known for throwing their fellow politicans under the bus when they become usless to them. and they don’t even flinch
What makes you think that Charlie Webster and Paul LePage are buddies? You don’t know the Republicans very well. One thing that the Ron Paul and Romney people all agreed on is that Paul LePage is awesome. He was at the top of all the slates today, Ron Paul’s slate and Romney’s multiple slates. lol
LMAO @ Charlie Webster … Ron Quixote kicks his butt !!!
Ron Paul is in Nevada today and in Texas on Sunday. Scotty will have to do.
Webster is a criminal, vote-stealing thug. He should be run out of Maine on rail.
Would that be just prior to, just after, John Martin’s run…?
… but Mommy, he did it tooooooo.
Great argument.
not
The rEVOLution is happening.
We are replacing the Boss GOP positions in states all across America. Winning delegates to get Dr. Paul on the ballot in Tampa and to the POTUS. I am very glad I am a part of this.
No Kings, No Wars.
No one but Dr. Paul
Ron Paul 2012
Restore America Now!!!
Very pleased by how well RP’s campaign is turning out!
WINNING!
Are people really glad to see the Tea Party win?? Not me. Maine evidently has not had enough of what we have had for the past two years in the Blaine House.
As an independent I most certainly am. The republican party has earned them.
Ron Paul is not Tea Party. He is registered GOP, but a civil libertarian.
while there is a civil libertarian wing of the TP, they are not the same thing.
Yes much better to return power to the big Governemnt spenders and big Governement unions that are bankrupting the Nation. Debt, spending and the massive growth of government has worked so well. The New Democratic Progressive Union Socialist Commnist Party will be just what we need.
Yeah, let’s all return to the incompetents and thieves like those Dem hacks McCormick and Violette.
The Tea Party that once was the Dr. Paul enthusiasts is NOT the tea party of late. The movement was hijacked by the establishment.
http://www.ron paul flix com to see the truth about the success of the rEVOLution.
There are many that have tried to take the Tea Party name including the social religious fringe that has done so much damage to the party by making abortions, gay rights and such the major issues that turn so many people off. We need fiscal responsibility, cut the size and power of the Federal Governemnt and return the power to the States, restore the Constitional limits on the power of the Federal government. The Tea Party volunteers are still involved, but not with the so called Tea Party organizations.
BRAVO, Doc3 !!!
I agree with Dr. Paul WE DON’T NEED AN ARMY OR A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT!!! GO RON PAUL
I don’t think Dr. Paul has said either of your ridiculous statements nor have I. The limited role of the Federal government has it’s place as does National armed forces. The roles are defined under the Constitution which is not to create a Federal empire and disband the States, nor are we to have undeclared wars around the world. What we do not need are the TSA, Homeland Security, the Patriot Act and the other gutting of the Bill of Rights and Constitution. Dr. Paul does support those actions. The Federal government has grown like a malignant tumor and now costs over $ .30 of every dollar sent to DC. It is just not sustainable. Obama has grown the Federal Government by 20 percent since being in Office. Thanks for playing though.
I don’t know who you actually agree with, but if you’re agreeing with the person who believes we don’t need an army or a federal government, it’s not Dr. Paul.
Put the Koolaid down and do your due diligence.
get grip….your guy hasn’t won delegates in any of the states ….but you vote for him though…please write him in. “a sucker is born every second”
Wait. He has not won a delegate in any of the states. Are you talking about Hunstman or something? You cannot be talking about Dr Paul. he is kicking butt in delegates all of a sudden – You are either REALLY lazy with your research or drunk. Pick one.
he has one 83 to Romneys 831…who is the one who is drunk here?
The Majority of republicans caucused for their candidate. The Majority of republicans all agree on one candidate. Why is this seen as odd? The Maine GOP leadership is corrupt, as we all know. But today’s show should not be seen as out of the norm.
The process surely isn’t out of the norm, but the backlash and rejection of the party chairman and his supporters certainly is.
The party chairman’s behavior is unacceptable. To choose a candidate who only had a minority of caucus support, and to proclaim that minority candidate as ‘winner’ of the caucus? I find it odd that the ‘backlash and rejection’ has been so mild.
Ayuh, Looks Like We The People have spoken in Maine.
Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Go Ron Paul 2012, the only hope for America.
Remember in November, if Mitt Romney is the Republicans Answer, It Must Have Been A Very Stupid Question!!!
Return OUR country to the Bill of Rights and the United States Constitution as OUR forefather’s intentions were precisely clear.
Tar, Feather, Exterminate all Acts of Treason against this Country, The United States of America, not the United Socialists States of America.
Ron Paul 2012 and the momentum is growing strongly.
Yah Maine!!!
Even though I no longer care to participate in the charade that is called an “election” (due to Diebold issues), I am happy that those with conviction for their positions and against manipulated outcomes are there, and are standing up for all of us. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Are vote machines (Diebold or otherwise) used in your precinct?
Last election I wrote-in “no confidence” … which I intended to mean, not only in the -offered- presidential contestants, but also in the ELECTION PROCESS and in the OFFICE of the “presidency” (glorified corporate-puppet-monkey – no matter WHICH party).
“The oppressed are allowed once every few years to decide which particular representatives of the oppressing class are to represent and repress them.” ~ Karl Marx
… and NO, I’m not a Marxist or communist or socialist … perhaps I’m a Constitution-ist: I’m a Maine Citizen, one (state) member of the (former) Republic known to me (in my childhood, at least) as “America”.
We must learn the difference between “the two United States” … otherwise we are little more than the ASSETS (Social-ist in-Security Numbers) of the Corporate States of (mind-control) Slavery … human CHATTEL: collateral for the DEBT of “the 1%”.
THIS election? If people don’t learn more (historically) about and FUNCTIONALLY confront the corporate hierarchies, then it does NOT matter … with extreme emphasis on the word, “NOT”.
it is a big step forward. Even people in the democrat party want to see things fixed.
It is your turn next. I understand not challenging Obama so late in the game but in 2016 I want to see Democrats “Ron Pauling” the Democrat establishment and cleaning house in your own party! It needs to be done. The Democrat establishment is for the wars, for the TSA, cell phone records, wire tapping, indefinite detention, internet censorship, I could go on and on and on. Come on Democrats. Ron Paul the establishment. :-) Imagine two anti-war pro-liberty candidates running!
‘Gotta love that: “Ron Paul” is now a “verb”.
If you don’t like diebold machines then you should have been there today. You don’t get much more honest, free, and in your face then a caucus and a convention. :-) No viting machines there.
As a registered Republican, I am embarrassed and frustrated with Charlie Webster. He does more to divide the party than bring it together.
I hope he is ousted soon.
It was suggested today that we were not uniting the party by showing up and voting for Ron Paul supporters and electing Ron Paul delegates but if we have the majority and we can do it then how are we being divisive if they aren’t uniting with us? It was also suggested that Ron Paul has no hope of winning, but understanding how presidential candidates are selected and knowing what is happening at state conventions across the country I am not convinced of that! I still think he could end up winning in the end because of the delegates that he is picking up in all of the states. Not the “delegate estimates” that the AP is reporting but actual flesh and blood people who are there getting elected when Ron Paul people show up in force at conventions.
(-;
Cudos for them. Charlie Webster must be having one of those “wanna get away” kind of days. Now if they would just get rid of him…
heck his buddies will throw him under the bus if he has nothing to offer them, he represents a dirty towel, nobody wants near it.
Ron Paul is a looser. How many times does he have to be told that nobody will vote for him? I find it funny how many people enthusiasticaly support him when there is no chance for him to be elected. LOL LOL LOL
Although I agree with your assessment, I have a hard time taking anyone who spells loser, looser, seriously.
What I think he means by ” looser” is he is free to run this country by the will of the people , he is loose of all the favors he would otherwise owe to big doners who buy pet projects, candidates and votes.
Give me a break.
illiteracy is not unusual, it is actually quite commonplace … life goes on
Especially in Maine. We need more literacy volunteers. Please, if you have the time, volunteer to help teach Mainer’s how to read.
I see that so much I am starting to think they teach children to spell it that way from elementary school. It is starting to be a pet peeve of mine. Loser= some one who loses or lost or continues to lose. Looser= Not as tight, loose= to let go, set free, Loose, as in clothing not fitting snug, looser even less snug/form fitting.
Hmmm. Yes let’s call Ron Paul a looser lol He wants to set you free, let you loose from the government strangle hold.
The people who vote for an oil happy seat warmer are the losers. Each and every election some undeserving seat warmer wins the office, the majority spoke, America this, America that, and then they grind us into debt, send us to war, and don’t bother with much fixes and lets “The Hill” duke things out and at the end of the day the person in office has their own interest. This Country needs someone new, someone fresh.
Ron Paul does not get the attention he deserves because the media, and every other show on TV and online are too busy making fun of Mittens Bartholomew Romney and the focus is on him, and when people look at their ballots, they end up checking off his name and gripe for the next 4 years that this country remains in the crapper.
This is what America is about, standing up for what’s right, and not letting Charlie Fraud Webster inject his own personal agenda into things and actually stick with the rules of the game
THANK you, ‘NotHappening’ … but people won’t GET it until they realize and accept that ALL the mainstream media (THE corporate mouthpiece) needs to do is alternate FEAR and FEEL-GOOD techniques and throw enough MONEY at the “permitted” favorite and VOILA: we have an “election” – and it does NOT matter about the Us-Vs-Them, divide-and-conquor, Dems-Vs-Repubs, Libs-Vs-Conservs, dogma-blabber – the DISTRACTION works every time …
“EVERY time”.
Excuses Excuses.
Sorry the truth hurt
Your comment doesn’t make any sense. Obviously people will and do vote for him, or else we wouldn’t be having this discussion on this article. The problem isn’t that people won’t vote for him, the problem is that people have been misinformed. There are too many greedy people with too much at stake to give up their positions without a fight to something as trivial as *scoff* freedom.
I will vote for only Ron Paul, whether he is the nominee or not. I’m sick of pandering politicians. I don’t want to vote for somebody whose trying to say what I want to hear, I want to vote for somebody who says what they believe in. I believe in what he stands for, I believe the best government is that which governs the least, as was said by some famous guy somewhere.
Didn’t Ross Perot “deliver” Bill Clinton for two terms based on that argument?
This…is a bit different. Perot did not have the same cross section of support in the various political factions. Ron Paul can win due to this fact.
A republican myth. Exit polls showed that he pulled just as many votes form Clinton as he did from Bush
Show one poll supporting your contention! Just one! You can’t because it is BS!
The Republicans should have run someone better then George H.W. Bush! Why is it Perot’s fault that the Republican candidate was pathetic?
As for H. Ross Perot, he was certainly right about three things: (1) The debt crisis,
(2) The huge loss of jobs, especially in manufacturing after NAFTA,
(3) “It’s time to clean out the barn.”
And the Aliens trying to kidnap him…
I voted for him twice and would again. My principles and beliefs are not for sale to the Richest Republican in the field if they are not going to stand up for what I believe
More people have woken up to that wt. And even more are. Maybe you just need to be shaken a little harder or some cold water in your face. Look at your own words. Are you the one that wants to keep repeating the same behavior expecting a different result? Stop the insanity and join the r3VOLution !
Actually, we Republicans delivered BC by having a milquetoast, big government nominee running.
All that is well and good. Not enuf voters I would say. If a person will not vote for him then they are misinformed? You might say that about Obama in 2008. Misiformed or not the voters have spoken. He obviously has failed to get his point across. Dont worry he will be back in four years. LOL.
Ron Paul is a doctor and served as a flight surgeon in the military. He’s also a fine economical thinker and author of several books. He’s also appeared on the Morton Downey Jr. Show. Ron Paul is no loser. You are a loser. I’m a loser too. The greedy warmongers on Wall Street and in the Corporate world are losers. Evil losers. The people are losers. The average person who just wants to live is a loser. This is a loser war. Us losers need to back up Ron Paul so we can take out the current evil losers who have the power. Unite for once fellow loser in the hopes that we don’t lose. Wait, what?
Obviously all that does not add up to the nomination, does it? Get a grip.
Stop hating! The race isn’t over yet.
Where did you get that from. I dont hate anybody. You can come up with a better comeback than that. Ever heard of inteligent banter? By the way, the race is over for him. See you in four years.
ain’t gonna happen but you keep believin’ in Ron Paul and floosies like Sarah Palin other good future possibilities include the tooth fairy marrying Santa Clause and moving into the Whitehouse along with the Easter Bunny. Keep Drinking the koolaid.
The most delegates in about 10 states and counting. No one will vote for him? You can say with a straight face that you are surprised how many people enthusiastically support a candidate no one will vote for. Heh .. funny and weird.
Who has the most delegates? What you say may be true, but he will not win the nomination. Right or wrong, good or bad, the voters have made their selection. Why cant you and him grasp reality for a change? LOL.
Since you can predict the future, would you mind telling me if it is going to be rainy or sunny on the 1st weekend in June? I want to know whether to plan my twins birthday party inside or outside?
I am a meteorological technician. I could give you a good idea. Predicting the future is easy when you see who has the most delegates. Paul does not have many, or should I say enuf.
Not to mention he has won about a dozen elections already.
I agree that Congressman Paul will not win, he is not electable, because he tells the TRUTH.
THAT is not “permitted” in the United States of Plutocracy.
Truth is not the question here. His failure to convince the voters of that truth is.
You must be a product of the public education system given the fact that you dont know how to spell LOSER
Is that all you can say? Complain about one little spelling mistake? Get a life! LOL.
It’s OK, go back to sleep. Then, get up and watch Faux News and get all the “news” that never will be reported. Gawd…………..
Were you there today? Didn’t think so! Now you know why he isn’t a “looser”.
What is with the term ‘presumptive’ nominee? Can’t these writers come up with anything original. Get a life. Ron Paul is going to win and if he doesn’t there will be a presumptive boot going in a presumptive a**.
I suggest “May no longer be the presumptive nominee”
Good job, Ron Paul supporters! We are going to win this…one way or another!
A fractured GOP is a gift from a loving god.
Otherwise the Dems could never win.
Divide and conquer isn’t just for the GOP anymore !
It worked for Bill Clinton, didn’t it?
Don’t worry, Obama and the GOP establishment will print enough money to get us out of this mess…won’t they?
It’s called ‘sharpening the sword’
Hey MarkGrav I will vote for Dr. Paul and about 12 to 18% of the regestered republicans will also.
And probably 15% of the regestered Democrats plus most of the independents. You will be the reason we will get 4 more years of Obama unless you vote for Dr. Paul.
You have it exactly on its head. YOU will be the reason we have four more years of Obama.
IT DOESNT MATTER, OBAMA OR ROMNEY, its all the SAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! RP 2012
That might happen(you may also win Powerball twice next week) but even if it did there is this pesky little entity called congress.
Congress will blow in any direction they think the electorate is headed. Spineless and directionless until the voters express themselves.
About a month ago Doug Wead spokesman for the Ron Paul campaign stated on MSNBC I believe it was the we were over 30%+ of the GOP voting base. That was prior to a boatload of huge rallys all across the country that the media gives squat for coverage. All those events have tables to register to vote and they are busy. I’d say we are over the 35%+ barrier now.
Most know that I was a staunch Santorum supporter, and cringed at the thought of Romney taking the Republican nomination. This obvious back door well orchestrated display by the Ron Paul crowd now forces me, and many other former Santorum supporters to reconsider Romney.
This has only served to further divide the party and ensure a reelection for Obama…. Good job
haha – yeah right! Paul is playing by the rules, meanwhile Romney supporters are handing out ‘fake’ delegate sheets today in Nevada claiming they are Paul delegates when they are actually his delegates to try to trick people. Romney = Obama…. dirty, unethical politicians who will do anything to get elected so they can help their buddies at Goldman Sachs, etc…
If “you” say so, but this BS is the final reason that I will never support Ron Paul or any of his backers.
I dont care for Romney, and while I wasnt thrilled about Ron Paul, I didnt dislike him as I did for Romney. What I see here today is a real game changer, and many I have spoken to today feel the same way.
Right now I am getting robo-call after robo-call from Ron Paul supporters, and at this point if it was between Obama & Paul, then I’d just stay home….!~
“this BS”…. what BS? playing by the rules? wanting to follow something as simply as the Constitution? believe in sound monetary policy? not bankrupting our country with trillion dollar police-the-world foreign policy? giving power back to the states?
So you wont have a problem when Ron doesnt get elected
And how many calls from Romeny campaign? What does that show you? RP’s people ARE ORGANIZED, they have a passion for what they believe in, and that is limited gov. and our freedoms as Americans. I just dont get people like you. You must WANT a nanny gov telling you what you can and cannot do, what you can or HAVE to buy, police that can arrest you with no reason and not have to tell anyone they did. That is what is going on here. And even if yousay you have nothing to hide, it doesnt matter, anything you say can be taken any way they want to take it. And that is the facts here. Dive down deep into your moral soul and think long and hard before you give up your freedoms! RP 2012
I didnt say that Romney wouldnt sell us out, but what I am saying is that this weekends display by RP supporters assures many former Santorum supporters will not support Ron Paul
The BS you should concern yourself with is the BS of establishment Charlie Webster usurping the authority of the members of his party by circumventing the rules by announcing a convention chairman before the beginning of the convention. That’s the BS here. Dr. Paul’s supporters are acting within the rules as written. The real game-changer is that there are real compassionate constitutionally-driven people ready to wrest the party back from its extremist leadership.
Extreme; I have got no less than 6 robo-calls in the past four hours.
Im getting first hand reports about whats happening , from people that I trust a whole lot more that any Ron Paul staffer that is unable to answer even basic policy questions…!
If have to vote for a Republican, it wont be Ron Paul…!
Why would YOU be getting robo calls from RP people TODAY??? That makes no sense. Maybe months ago when the Maine caucus was happening, but WHY would they be calling you on the day of the convention??
I got the calls Saturday, why they called I dont care, but I did call one number back and I asked them to remove my name from their database “permanently”
Stay home cause you will have no one to vote for and you are just a sore loser and at least we know how to spell.
Hes not going to win, and then who will you vote for…?
Good Move
Stay
Home
AND TELL YOUR FRIENDS TO DO THE SAME…PATRIOTS WILL STAY HOME AND PROTEST THIS NEXT ELECTION. GO RON PAUL
Do you actually think that if those that supported Santorum will vote for Paul,,,, not going to happen..!
Chris, Obama is not dirty. His Congress is. :D
dddd Delberta!!!!
they both are!
It’s funny that Romney people feel they have to pose as Paul people to get elected. I thought Ron Paul was unelectable.
If you like Obama, you will love Romney ;)
ObamaCare was just a copy-cat of Romneycare (with unconstitutional “individual mandate”). There are so many similarities I can’t type them all, but there’s some great stuff out there showing their policies and record side by side.
What blog did you read that on…?
If you are referring to Romney people dressed in Ron Paul shirts, handing out fake ballots,,, 1000s of people watched it happen on a UStream. There is someone taking video of the convention and everyone saw it on that stream. It will be on YouTube soon, if not already.
I will look into it
Then you sir, and all the others, are IDIOTS. And I mean that in the nicest way. Wake up and see what is happening right in front of your eyes. Obama and Romneys biggest donor is GOLDMAN SACHS! Ron Pauls,. well, just the average Joe on the street, a LOT of them! RP 2012
Its comments like this that guarantees a no vote from former Santorum supporters
As a Commie, pinko, Liberal, Atheist, I hope Ron Paul wins it.
Considering Ron Paul is a Free Market Libertarian, Combat Veteran, Conservative Christian, it’s great to see his message of Liberty has such great crossover value to sway even those completely opposite of him in nearly every way!
People that only see differences and can not see similarities are the same kind of people that can not distinguish pragmatic reality with an idealistic fantasy.
They also tend to lack the ability to perceive irony.
Or even how hilarious they are !
You do know Ron Paul is an atheist, right?
Sure and you are the Anti Christ
What the hell does religion have to do with following the constitution and I do not think you know what you are talking about
Steve Olson
Um, no he is not. Why dont you do some research there honey. he is a babtist ( I think) but he is religious, just doesnt throw it in peoples faces like others. SO google it, and then you may edit your post. RP 2012
Hopefully Charlie Webster is soon tried for Treason and given the appropriate punishment… due to all their unethical tactics, I’ll be voting for Obama if Romney is the nominee!
I’d guess you’d be voting for Obama no matter who the Republican nominee might be…
Are you serious or not paying attention either my brother? Dr. Paul can’t lose with this kind of support.
no, you should write in Ron Paul, dont vote for what you dont believe in! RP 2012
I do not understand why the GOP is doing everything in its power to destroy there own party…They must know that if they keep this up…the true patriots of this country will form there own and the GOP will be a novice attraction
Goolly, don’t tell me that you just figured out that the republican party has cut their own throats and are about to become an obsolete party come November.
…. along with the Democrats.
The duopoly is broken.
Baby we will be the new GOP!!!!
The Republican Party is undergoing a profound change. For the better…
The Neocon Republicans serve the same Wall Street and war profiteer masters as the corrupt Progressive Democrats. If you follow both up high enough, they merge.
It is not all about Ron Paul. He has stated that he is the champion of the Constitution. He is a Constitutional Republican, and that’s what the supporters truly are as well. All of these candidates who take the oath to “defend and protect the Constitution from enemies, foreign and domestic” then turn around and support unconstitutional legislation,, must go.
There is a new day dawning and will last far longer than Dr Paul’s time in politics. It’s high time to stop marginalizing the people who believe in this concept and movement by labeling us as Paulbots, Paultards, or even just Paul Supporters. Those labels were created by those who want to prevent our nation from getting back to the principles of the Constitution and Bill Of rights.
We are Constitutional Republicans. We are the primary funding source for Dr Paul. We are becoming delegates and GOP leaders. We will help all other Constitutional Republicans, who have faith in the Constitution and the principles of freedom.
Ron Paul: We are not his, he is ours.
well said. i couldn’t agree more. :)
Because Ron Paul will not be bought, and if he is elected, the buck will stop there, literally. he will shrink our gov to the way it should be without all of those depts of “give us money!”
RP 2012
Romney financially bulldozed Huntsman, Santorum and Gingrich into oblivion. Backed by Wall St he has merely outspent the others. The fact that Ron Paul is even still standing against Romney is nothing short of miraculous.
Ron Paul is frustrating him using the GOPs own rules with pure grass root support, patriotism and determination. Even SuperPAC support has been minimal compared to all the others.
If you believe that nominations should be bought, by all means support Romney. Just remember all you ‘anyone but Romney’ voters; He’s bought your loyalty as well.
No, Romney gave what the majority of people wanted – a more moderate, less extremist approach.
No sane person would even for a moment consider Huntsman, Santorium, or Gingrich even remotely qualified as a candidate capable of representing the entire nation. Their extremist message does not resonate with most Americans.
Romnay is a Trust Fund Baby who is on his knees to big money. He has nothing in common with the working man!
He mad his own money!
And now Goldman Sachs and a list of other banks(that we bailed out) are paying him dearly!
His father was the head of General Motors and the Governor of Michigan. Do you really think Mitt started with nothing and made that money without political and corporate connections?
Yeah, we can’t trust a man who didn’t make his own money…He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth.
He DID MAD it!! He DID MAD ALL OF IT
he mad it go all the way to the caymens…
that alone should tell the voters what Romney is made of
Romney’s dad, George Romney, was Governor of Michigan, and the head of General Motors. Without his fathers big corporate & political connections he would not be a ‘self made man’.
Sorta like JFK !
??
Moderate politics has led to the demise of this country. ask people who lost their jobs and homes because the moderates thought it was OK to employ kids in third world countries instead of keeping jobs here./ keep your moderates!!!
Romney is moderate?
He said he supports a war with Syria and Iran (which will expand to include Russia which Romney labeled our chief enemy). He supports the continued war with Afghanistan .
He said he would have signed the NDAA and SOPA (now renamed CISPA) into law.
He supported the outlawing of hunting rifles (mislabeled assault guns) as governor. He supported the corporate welfare for GM and Solyndra, and bailouts for megarich on Wall Street (TARP). He supported and flew down to DC to help write Obamacare.
Romney is no moderate.
He’s Barack Obama.
He should be running as a Democrat not a republican
.
exactly. which is why i will vote for Obama. this time he has the experience.
Romney is a non choice.
Experience in spending Trillions of dollars, yea he certainly does have it.
I take it you are opposed to the stimulus package?
What do you think should have been done?
I would agree to say “That while economic stimulus during a recession is a good thing, Obama’s lack of executive experience resulted in an ineffective package coming out of Congress”
Let’s compromise. I won’t vote for Obama if you put Ron Paul on the ballot.
I seriously doubt Ron Paul will be on the ballot, and as an Independent I have very little say in the matter since the Republicans and Democrats have denied us that priveledge in primaries though are taxes pay for it just the same.. I was opposed to the Stimulas Package, because of the extreme deficit which is and will get worse.
That’s why it is good to declare a party, so you can participate in the primary process. By not declaring a party, your independent voice is missing from that part of the process. You can still vote for whom your choice in the general election.
The stimulus package? You mean the “dump the debt on the next generation package…how irresponsible can we be? Ron Paul ghas the answers…their tough answers…but we have to face our responsibility, and NOT unload it on our children! Please…think this through. And believe me…were trying to get him on the ticket. if enough independants and dems join us… he could win on a write in…wouldn’t THAT be historical?!
it would indeed.
please know, i own a small business and have been involved with business on different levels for almost 30 yrs. in tough times, businesses invest. austerity is not the only path out of a difficult situation.
other than that difference, i hear ya brother!
I didn’t say he was a moderate. Go back and read. I wrote that he’s “more moderate” than
Huntsman, Santorium, or Gingrich, and that the latter three were never seriously considered electable to the Presidency.
Whether Huntsman, Santorum or Gingrich could have been considered or not is besides the point. Romney has had to outspend them by far to push them out of contention. On an equal financial footing he would have struggled to keep up with Bachmann.
Romney is duping the people just as Obama did and Bush before him, and countless others. They tell the people what they want to hear rather than explain exactly why things have turned out the way they have and what really needs to be done.
He’s a packaged product, with pretty slogans, empty promises and simple solutions, backed by Wall St money.
The media and the repubs both looked away from Ron Paul and minimized his threat, that is why he is still standing. (-;
Kaya,,,we need to start using the word Republic,,,the younger people of this nation do not even understand this word,,,and the united states is a republic,,not a democracy…we have a democratic system,,,I really think if more people remembered this,,we wouldnt have the politicians running amok as they do…In a republic,,the gov works for us..not us for the gov..
“And to the republic for which we stand…”. What if that means the Republic of England????
There’s no such thing as “the Republic of England”. It’s named the United Kingdom of Great Britian and Northern Ireland.
lol,,do u know what a republic is KaylnMaine,,,a republic is a country that is run by the people and has a gov that answers to them the people,,England has a queen,,and they only have a democratic system of elections,,,
Kay misquoted the Pledge of Allegiance. It’s “and to the Republic for which it stands, One Nation, Indivisible, with Liberty, and Justice for all.”
and you misquoated It is “One Nation, Under God, Indivisable, with Liberty and Justice for all.”
Kay it was the youth that started this revolution. Pay attention please.
Yepper, I remember it well ….. it was 1987.
Big fail in your civics class. We live in a Democratic Republic.
Please note that democracy is a noun whereas democratic is an adjective!!!
There is no way Ron Paul can beat Mitt Romney in the National Republican Convention!!
you missed the paradigm shift… sounds like you’re living in the 70’s
I (regretfully) agree with Zaracat. Ron Paul will not be permitted into the Exectuive office of Corporate Puppet-Monkey, because he tells the TRUTH.
Depends on how much money Goldman Sachs is willing to pay……..RP 2012
we never thought a black man would be elected either.
the voters do funny things, and RP has an ignited following. i’m a Dem, so this isn’t my fight, but, I’d like you all to put this man on the ballot. At least the rest of us would have a choice.
Sounds like you are living in a teaparty tent in Augusta. Ron Paul will get 4% of the Republican vote…
Watch out !
You know that at this point he was the only person who agreed with himself. lol
Now that is B.S…..Remember Romney lost to Mcain…who lost to Obama. Romney and Ron Paul are scheduled for a debate in a few weeks….bet you that Romney cancels….because they know he will not only get beat….but get destroyed by Ron Paul!
I hope Scott Rmoney is aware he will be booed so loudly that he won’t be able to hear himself think for a week!
Why? Are Ron Paul supporters so UNAmerican that they cannot be civil?
be civil to someone who helped and conspired to throw a election. Ask him to invest your pension fund OK.
I don’t believe for a moment that most of the Ron Paul supporters are life long Republicans. They came in droves to the town caucuses out of nowhere. Many of them I knew as Independents or Democrats. If someone who claims to be a Ron Paul supporter says they’ll vote for Obama over Romney they are very disingenuous.
Actually, most Ron Paul supporters think Romney and Obama are the same.
Obama and Romney are not the same. Obama will drive the country off a cliff at 90 MPH, Romney will drive it off the cliff at 85 MPH.
OK almost the same….one can sing and one cant!
Government run by Goldman Sachs?
i voted for obama last election, but boy was that a mistake. im a registered democrat, but i will be voting 100% for Ron Paul. In fact my whole household will be. Obama is for doing away with our rights/freedoms, and romney only favors the very rich, which disgusts me. rEVOLution 2012!
I will write in RP if it comes down to it, I wouldnt vote for either one of those crooks if they had a gun to my head! Ron Paul 2012
If that is what it takes to straighten out the republican party, so be it..
I believe many Dems and Independents support Ron Paul.
This media created battle between the voters is starting to expose it’s-self
Did Charlie Webster tell you this?
At what point do the republicans start pulling out their hand guns and start shooting each other to win today? Bah hahahahahaha! Oh man, today is hilarious.
NO NO NO KAY. Tomorrow is when all of the Republicans are scheduled to form a giant circle facing each other, draw their guns and all start shooting straight ahead
Condescencion ….. that’s real cute.
Have a good summer.
I plan on it, thank you.
Kay imagine a political party that doesn’t always do what they are told by their so called leaders???
That could never happen in the democrat party because they are better at compliance.. The Collie keeps them in order, they hate wandering sheep.
Maybe it would be better to forget Ron Paul as president…He would be a great senator for Maine.
Then you haven’t bee paying attention it is President or President there are no other choices.
I think it would be better to forget senator of Maine…he should be President of The USA…we can then call it The “Good Old” USA again
Let the backstage boys begin, roll in the clowns, start beating the drums. The Circus has begun, the competition is for ringmaster of the season. Each act will have 5 minutes to perform followed by an obligation of oratory nonsense. Will the real senator please stand up….and they all stand up! Yep…sensationalism at it’s best without the real straw hats mind you. If I were to pick a couple of days to work in the garden it would be both saturday and sunday.
Then after the clowns sit down and fight over who will start which war….Ron Paul will stand up and take the show to our issues….unlike the clowns!
Face it, GOP Establishmentarians…,we are on the march, and we will not be denied. The more you fight us, the more we engulf and devour you. Your days of Statism, War, Torture, Economic ignorance, and a love of the Police State are OVER!
This is how things work – people get tired of the underhanded way people been running things and people get involved- looks like its catchin on all over despite a biased media and dirty old-hand political maneuverings !
Ron Paul join the Revolution 2012
Thank goodness liberty triumphed today. After 3 recounts all showing Brent Tweed won, the establishment then went over each delegates credentials, citing discrepancies. (more votes than credentialed delegates). Yet, when all Ron Paul’s delegates showed they were credentialed, no more mention was made of the “discrepancy” and Brent was finally allowed to take over his new position.
Please tell me you all got that CROOK Charlie Webster tarred, feathered and on a rail?
Congratulations Brent Tweed and Ron Morrell. Above all, it’s about rescuing the US Constitution and Bill of Rights. Both parties have spent years ignoring it, at our nation’s peril.
We Constitutional Republicans (Ron Paul supporters) appreciate all of the hard work. We invite all liberty-minded Americans to join us in preserving and defending our magnificent document and the principles which makes our nation great.
The further we stray from the Constitution and Bill of Rights, the worse off our nation becomes. I believe that’s obvious to any and all Americans who are paying attention. Each time an unconstitutional law is passed and each time we enter yet another war unconstitutionally, another nail has been driven into the coffin that attempts to bury our freedoms.
Keep up the good fight for liberty, peace and prosperity. We are America, we deserve it!
I am a Ron Paul supporter. This election season, no candidate will.
get my vote for the Office of President of the United States of America.
except for Ron Paul. There will be no exceptions. If he does not win the.
nomination, I will write his name on the ballot.
No amount of slick talking, flip-flopping, wooing, cajoling,
threatening, or condescending will persuade me to vote for any other.
contender for that office.
You don’t want to admit it, but you know that the Republican Party.
cannot beat Obama without me, a Ron Paul supporter. It’s long past time.
you admit it.
You and I have conflicting goals. I will only cast a vote for.liberty, for peace, for small government, for fiscal sanity and respect.for the Constitution of the United States and adherence to the oath of.office of the Presidency. You however are content merely to vote for.whatever Republican the GOP leadership and the media approve of.I will not move. I cannot be persuaded. You cannot win without me.I am not here to convince you that Ron Paul’s positions are superior.I am not here to convince you that his foreign policy is in line with.traditional conservatism. I am not here to convince you that his.understanding of economics put everyone else in Washington to shame. Iam not even here to convince you that the positions of the other.candidates are not materially different than Obama. No, I don’t need to do any of that. I only need to tell you that.without me, you have lost. If you do not vote for Ron Paul in your.Primary or Caucus, you are already defeated. If you fail to nominate Ron.Paul to be the Republican candidate for President, Barack Hussein Obama.will serve a second term. This is not blackmail. This is not a threat. This is a simple statement of fact.I stand firm and I will not accept anything less.Ron Paul 2012.~If you agree with this post this on other sites and encourage others.to help make it go viral so the message is clear to the GOP.
Though I do not like the thought of Romney getting in, I think a vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Obama.
That is what he said.. You cannot win without the Repubs who want Ron Paul on the ballot. and I am willing to allow Obama to win a second term then to make the republicans think they can cheat/lie to nominate someone by pushing the rest of us repubs around like we are wingnuts.. I will right Ron Pauls name in, no matter what the outcome.. They are losing there power and don’t like it..
I don’t get it. how did ron paul supporters hijack the meeting? only people elected to the convention can go, and for some reason over 40% of mitts supporters didn’t show up. Instead of take over, shouldn’t the headline be, mitt supports don’t show up to outnumber smaller ron support. Give ron paul supports the edge?
because Mittens so called supporters are lame, and Ron Pauls know the value of freedom! Ron Paul 2012
The elections were actually very close. Only four votes separated the mainstream GOP convention chair candidate from the Ron Paul convention chair candidate.
Other votes were similarly close. Do not believe everything you read from reporters.
I support individual liberty and a republic of limited and restrained government, doing only what is necessary, and leaving the rest to the states and/or voluntary cooporation of the citizenry. therefore I support Paul 110%.
Other like minded liberty activists are beginnign to participate at all levels of the Republican party. Precinct, County, State, National – we’re going to the meetings, we’re getting elected to executive committees – we are becoming the GOP establishment and our enemy is the status quo.
When I read so many ignorant, knee-jerk reaction, and stupid comments based on nothing, neither principles or reality, I feel very pessimistic for the chances of our species.
Freedom brings people together from all strata of society becasue everyone can embrace it even if it is for different reasons. just mark this, in a land ruled by our philosophy a community of communists could live happily unmolested on their own property sharing all they have and living the dream – in a communist land a group of libertarians wishing to live individual lives are rounded up and shot.
don’t be hoodwinked by the statists and central planners – your life and liberty is the most valuable thing you will ever posess…. do not sacrifice it for someones false ideals.
Paul will not give up and We will not give up. We are fighting for everything and most of us hope that it can be done through political means but regardless of the means this land will be free.
Any politician – even down to the “select” man /person level – who will not participate in the education and pursuit of Monetary Reform – is not worth the paper their election ballot is printed on … because THIS is an issue that underlies nearly everything else in our world … please take notice.
RON PAUL!
WE ARE WINNING! Ron Paul in 2012 or bust!
In four+ years, he’ll be fishing. But we’ll still be here.
Yes, we will, tryiing to re-coop what crap he has left us with.
I hope they kick Charlie Webster in the political teeth. It will be interesting to see if these Ron Paul folk are honest Mainers or dirty politics truth twisters like Webster.
And you are sadly misinformed if you honestly believe that there’s any difference between Obama and Romney.
No doubt Charlie is right now writing his report on how illegal aliens were bussed in to cast votes.
His failure ? Oh you see no bias in the media or by the GOP RINOs ? Wipe the Rino splatter out of your eyes and stop following the droppings of the morons who have killed the so called party that in truth is just the other side of the same coin. How does it feel to be a sheep drowning in rino dung? Like a ” looser”?
Just keep following the “loosers” off the cliff little lamb.
This was in reply to Markgrav. Don’t know how it got here?
run paul or no one at all. the lesser of two evil is still evil.
Go Maine!
Meanwhile, in Nevada, the Romney folks are trying the old “Delegate Slate Switcheroo” trick as they did in Colorado. This time, though, they dressed as RP fans and somehow got hold of counterfeit delegate badges. A marvelous young lady named Rachel spotted it and immediately brought it to the attention of all. Bit of an uproar (as in hell breaking loose) followed.
Aren’t elections fun?
Luckily, it was caught and those responsible were called out in front of the convention.
A vote for Ron Paul is a vote for Obama, so I’m all for Ron Paul.
Anybody but Romney !
Go Ron Paul !
Ayn Rand and her Objectivism are ideals, most people grow out of in college, or shortly after getting out of college and experiencing how the real world works – so good luck with all THAT mess.
Whats the difference? Obama ROmney, they both have the same #1 donor, Goldman Sachs, what does that tell you? If Paul doesnt win, its four more years of pure crap, more money spent on wars that neednt be fought, banks that neednt be bailed out and healthcare that is forced down our throats! Wake up America, Ron Paul 2012
I applaud them for standing up for what they believe. Democracy at work. I think Ron Paul should show up at the convention.
Link summary at MA-NE.net.
Link summary at MA-NE.net.
i just sorry i had to miss it today! this will help send a message to a greedy wall street money cant buy everyone.now bring back the jobs you sent over seas or we the people will steamroll over all of you fat cats!
LOL!
I much rather watch the Eaglecam and see the mommy Eagle feed her chicks that read about all this crazy politics
Maine has some of the most courpt politicans in the country, They seemed to have looked away, thinking to themselves like they always do that people are stupid and will never stand up to them.. Well today folks something happened that changed that. they stood up to them…
Man, EVERY state has corrupt politicians by the score. That’s how the game is played these days. Beg, borrow, cheat, steal, and make your money on the side.
it’s a sad state of affairs.
We really can’t use “corrupt” anymore. LePage has ruined that word as Marc Anthony ruined “honorable.”
Governot Lopage’s communist regime will be taken over. LOL
Godspeed Ron Paul
The Obama and the democratic party must be laughing themselves silly. Instead of actually turning up in numbers to vote Paul support devolve to these antics. You got to love the fanatics.
Antics? You mean following the GOP’s rules? And now that we are showing more strength, they are trying to change them. If RP is elected, their big fat corporate stuffed wallets will start to thin out and just might make them honest politicians. Imagine that, an honest poilitican! RON PAUL 21012
A perpetual 4th place candidate, who is being beaten 10 to 1. It will get funnier the more losses. Trust me there will be more starting on May 8th. Honesty, is accepting you have no chance off winning.
my tag says it all..
Even if we lose a general election things will change.. I would bet the run of the mill repubs are saying they should have listened to the people that elected them.. This is the birth of a new era, Good luck with your dreams of business as normal… It’s not about party politics anymore. it’s about the people.
The concern should be want advantages it will give the Democratic Party during the general election. Maybe, NOBP will have the same effect as PUMA did in 2008. That is absolutely none. For me, it makes me laugh when I hear about this antics for Paul supporters and then they want you to believe that they care about democracy.
We live in a Republic for which it stands. and we cannot lose.. We may not win a general election but what has been created will live forever.. You cannot kill an idea… If it takes 20 years so be it.
Its not about winning. its about getting the fire started, so that America will wake up and see what the government is trying to do. We need to use our voices and let them know that it is NOT okay to tell us what we can and cant do, that we want a limited government FOR THE PEOPLE, not DEMANDING THE PEOPLE! RP 2012
Ron Paul 2016. No …. Ron Paul “Dreams of 1920”
Incorrect. People will focus on the actions only and factors related to them.
No on the outside is going to believe that this is for a bigger fight. Why? You guys did not show up in numbers to support your candidate. Now, with the campaign dying these acts seem a desperate last gasp of feeling important.
Why can’t some you accept that Ron Paul idea’s have been rejected, that is the reason for his poor showing.
For me, I wish that Ron Paul was doing better even. It would have made for a more interesting race.
I couldn’t agree more. Both parties, Democrats and Republicans have violate our trust by partnering with the unions, big oil, and the corporations who are robbing us blind. Ron Paul has my vote even if I have to write him in. Anything less will be a disservice to this country.
Amen to that!!!
cry us a river while you’re stuck in the 70’s… played by the rules and still #winning
Actually, being stuck in the 70’s is better than “dreams of 1920.” Please, help get Ron Paul supporters out and vote on May 8th. Any more of these loses my Ron Paul will make me laugh.
Yeah, fanatics like Washington, Adams, Franklin and a handful of other “wingnuts” who brought this country into being.
Wow. America is a modern democracy not a colonial state. A lot has changed since the War of Independence.
What don’t some Paul supporters realize that the situation that Ron Paul is in is because they did not show up in enough numbers to vote. On May 8th get out and vote for Ron Paul.
I’m very certain they won’t like running Ron Paul up against their Obama… Ron Paul wins that one.
Win what? Now, that is funny. Paul is sitting 4th, and now some think that he will be able to run in the 2012 presidential election.
These Paulites it is all about “their candidate” and no one else to the very end. Honestly, they can do what every they want. However, they must be
hoping, no praying, that Mitt Romney wouldn’t challenge them. Trust me if Ron Paul steals the nomination with his poor showing, Obama will win easily.
If Ron Paul is able to win though respecting voters votes, not this backroom maneuvering, then he will have a chance. That is, if more voters started to warm up to Ron Paul then I would say “Paul could actually beat Obama.”
Let us talk about May 8th, 2012. Why May 8th, 2012? Paul has yet to win
anything significant. He lost the last few primaries, and he might lose
the next few.
So get that “posse” together in Indiana, North Carolina, and West Virgina for the primaries to bring home a victory for Ron Paul. Don’t forget the voting part.
I am a lifelong Republican. I will unenroll on Monday morning.
Why when you can just do the right thing and vote for Ron Paul? You know it is what the country needs, not another Obama hiding behind the Republican ticket! Ron Paul 2012
Why note vote for Ron Paul? Among other reasons, I can not support an atheist who supports legalization of all drugs and opposes Isreal.
Please do your research first. he is NOT an atheist and the legalization of all drugs is meant to be so that each state can mandate what the law is on drugs. LIMITED GOVERNMENT! RP 2012. Google some more and read up!!
I have done a PILE of reading. You try it! You pro-druggie types worry me!
I am a veteran of two wars, the least of my concern is our border! It’s protected, calm down. My concern right now that our constitution is being torn to pieces and it’s time we put an end to that right now!
Pro Druggies? No, I just understand better than you that it doesn’t matter if it’s illegal or not. People will still do drugs. Ron Paul is the only honest one of the group and you cant deny that. Which means that you cant say anything good about the other candidates. Ron Paul 2012!!
By the way, LIMITED GOVERNMENT also means reduced border protection. Are you cool with that?
You’re making this up, all of it. Where is your proof that any of your statements are true? Joe Goebbels would be proud of you.
YOU said, and I quote, “LIMITED GOVERNMENT! RP 2012.” How can a limited government guard a border? By definition that is ACTIVE government. If Paul says he is in favor of limited government and closing the border, he is a liar. You want it both ways!
Ron Paul opposes “in God we trust”. He cites states rights. So, if a state supports slavery is that ok according to Ron Paul’s constitutional interpretation?
http://thehill.com/homenews/house/191711-ron-paul-i-oppose-in-god-we-trust-bill
You sound like the misinformed, uninformed, or the I don’t care enough to look at the facts.
Once again, can you PROVE he’s anti-God? I don’t know where you get your information but it’s totally incorrect. Besides, I’d rather have someone in the White House who isn’t a self-proclaimed Christian. Next, what has Israel ever done for us other than take our money.
So, Ron Paul wants to cut Isreal loose and turn away from affairs overseas. Who do you hope deals with Iran’s nuclear weapons? Do you want to just wait until they hit us?
No responses to the difficult questions…
You mean the nuclear weapons that Iran doesn’t have?
Pop quiz: Who supported Isreal when they bombed Iraq’s nuclear program in the 80s?
israel is it’s own country.
they are not part of the united states, time to let them fend for themselves!
Why is our military protecting the poppy fields in afganistan?? How does their heroin get shipped to the USA??? Your government who has a war on drugs protects their drugs. and jails americans for using the same drugs
he isn’t an atheist, and he supports the state’s rights to decide about drug laws and he doesn’t Oppose Israel, he just doesn’t think we need to be the “big brother” of the world, and why exactly should we be?
do your own research and stop believing what the Corrupt News Media is telling you, propaganda and lies….
cry us a river! … we won playing by the rules and having the most people show up. wah wah wah!
I am not crying about anything. I made a firm statement and intend to follow through with it. I am a STRONG constitutionalist, but am uterly dismayed by this teaparty/paul civil war on good people who are of substantially similar minds. You people will lead us to four more years of Obama.
4 years of Romney is 4 more years of Obama. Write a list of Romney’s political stances. Write another list again in 10 minutes. Chances are those two lists will be completely different. How can Republicans possibly think flip-flop Romney is any more trustworthy than Obama has been?
So you are saying it’s not about whats best for the country or playing by the rules. You just want a notch on the belt of victory at any cost to the country.
I said nothing about the rules. Get off your talking points from Paul central. I think Ron Paul would be terrible for this country. I think Obama would be worse for this country. I think Romney would be better than both of them for the country.
Thank God you’re not speaking for those of us who realize that Mr. Paul is the only real chance we have to shake things up in D.C. and get this country back on line. Maybe your points would be better received if you would explain just why you think Ron Paul would be, “…terrible for this country.” Neither Obama nor Romney is fit to run an animal shelter much less a nation. Ron Paul is just about our last chance and if you’d get off your self-righteous rant, you’d see that.
You are right about one thing. I am not speaking for you and the other 3% of the populatioin who thinks you and Ron are right.
You will never learn and will sit idly by while the country goes into the dumper. I’m proud to be part of the 3% AND GROWING! Accept it and go back to Fox News.
I hate fox news! Who do you blindly follow? Oh, I guess I know.
and your source of flawed information would be…?
I don’t follow anyone or anything blindly. I follow my heart and my head. And BTW, you DON’T have a clue about who or what I believe. In fact I doubt you have a clue about anything outside your narrow minded, myopic view of the world. You have my deepest sympathies.
have u ever watched ‘Mitt v Mitt’ on Youtube??? Romney = Obama… backed by the same people (Goldman Sachs & 0.1 %ers), but support NDAA (indefinite detention of US citizens w/o trial), but will say anything to get elected, same exact people invented both Romneycare and Obamacare, but were for the bailouts, … the list is endless!
Yeah. I always go to Youtube for my indepth political analysis. Refill you bong…
so you’d rather go to the liberal controlled media that will only spew forth what their corrupt controllers tell them to?
I trust youtube more, becuase those who are reporting on it are real people, not some camera crew.
there’s also more information available on youtube.
you could see both sides of the story
‘Mitt v Mitt’ is what McCann used to absolutely destroy Romney in 2008…
So you would rather listen to someone who goes state by state lying to people? It is 2012 and you can see proof of this online. Mitt is this years John Kerry (flip flooper/liar/rich out of touch) and he lost to Bush that was liked even less than Obama is now. Good luck with Mittens winning.
Most of the youtube stories regarding Ron Paul come from actual news sites. Does that mean you also need to refill your bong?
Romney is a crook, liar and thief …
If you can not see both Obama and Mittens are 90% the same then you seriously have a mental defect. Obamney 2012! One choice for the brain dead sheep! Youtube: Romney Obama the Same?
Obama, a Goldman Sachs candidate running against Romney, a Goldman Sachs candidate. Where do you see a difference? Please explain?
But even CBS believes that Mittens and Obama mirror each other. What’s the real difference between them in their policies? I see absolutely none that make a damns worth of difference.
The tea party (most of them) were hijacked by big government neocons. Probably the most appropriate label for Paul, and the supporters, is Constitutional Republicans.
Mitt is so similar to Obama, he offers no real change. More NDAA, Patriot Act, HR347, and liberty eroding EO’s. Obamacare is modeled after Romneycare (including with individual mandates). The Republican Party is evolving into a new dawn. Taking it back to it’s core principles while ushering in the 21st century with regards to liberty, peace and prosperity.
If there were no Paul supporters (we are putting him in office, the people, not Goldman Sachs) there would be no Paul campaign. Mitt would still lose to Obama.
Please don’t blame Mitt’s liberal leanings on Constitutional Republicans, it’s not fair to the huge number of people who have donated and worked so hard, to provide an alternative to huge central government, controlled by the global financial elite. The US dollar is perilously close to collapse, we can’t let that happen.
Only Americans can save America, not the establishment status quo. Sometimes I think they want our monetary system to collapse. They certainly act like it, prior republicans and current Democrats alike..
In order to win a president a candidate must appeal to the most voters to win. With the deep political divides in America the presidential candidate must find areas of commonality among voters to be elected. This is a political reality that has always existed.
Stubbornly sticking to an idea without considering the electorate is politically foolish. There is nothing wrong in trying to sell ones political idea, but you must understand not everyone my not like. Trying to push it on the electorate has a chance of rejection, as an example with downeastlaw.
However, you people just don’t seem to understand this. From the political side ideas might have to be put on hold to achieve other goals. Ideas might have the be crafted better, or explained better. This is the real political reality.
But, freedom is popular as is being shown across America as Dr. Paul will be the nominee and during the debates with Obama, he will take the POTUS with the majority vote of this entire republic in the greatest landslide victory in history. Thank you very much.
Freedom “is” popular, and always has been. Wrapping an idea in words such as “freedom” and “liberty” doesn’t free it from scrutiny.
Ron Paul has to win the Republican primaries first through votes cast, and thus far it is very unlikely. Even this maneuvering will not equate to type of victory that will lead him to being the Republican nominee. If the impossible does happen it will hurt the party enough that the Republican nominee will lose. That is just the political reality.
This doesn’t mean a resounding victory “during” the primaries will hurt the party, but this political maneuvering will. However, this political maneuvering could only be about Paul getting more a say on the party platform.
This is what dismays me. I believe there slogan is NOBP. They don’t even think of the backlash from the base, the people who will actually vote. They might be hoping that they can do what they did in 2010 mid-terms. However, they don’t seem to understand that this if for the biggest political crown in America. Wait it out and see what happens.
how can you call yourself a strong constitutionalist and not be for Ron Paul? sounds like lip service to me….
Actually, sounds more like an oxymoron.
Good for you. It’s your right. Personally I’m glad to see you go. America doesn’t need small minded political bigots like yourself.
Don’t do it. It is your party to help.
let him go. only rouge repubs would say that
Did your friends lose today?
Sweet Bliss I say…I just hope this spirited excitement with a multitude of excellent GOP candidates keeps going. If Paul is not on the ballot I hope that these patriots write their candidates in. That’s being a true American…GO RON PAUL!!!
We have won a plurality of 7 states in delegate counts and the rules state he will be on the ballot. Mittens does not have the power in numbers that the straw votes have stated because of all the vote and election fraud used to make that look good for Mittens was a lie.
OUT WITH THE OLD IN WITH THE NEW MEANING THERES YOUNG BLOOD GETTING RUN THRU THE VEINS OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY ALL OVER THE COUNTRY.THIS NEW BLOOD DOESN’T FALL IN LINE WE WILL NOT BACK A FRAUD ESTABLIHMENT SHILL THAT WILL NOT REPRESENT OUR BEST INTEREST.IT’S TIME WE THE NEW REPUBLICAN PARTY TURNS THIS COUNTRY AROUND AND GETS THE SHIP BACK ON CORSE AND IT’S CAPTAIN WILL BE DR.RON PAUL.
Not sure if your use of captain was metaphorically intended, but yes, he is indeed a Captain. That was his military rank.
Im watching the Nevada convention live, and it’s looking good for Ron Paul
Will the next GOP presidential candidate please stand up. …and make sure you turn the lights off after the concession speech on election night.
Happy DAYS
Ron Paul is Pro Abortion…do you GOP people know this?? Abhorrent I say.
No he’s not.
Ron Paul believes life begins at conception.
back away from Fox news, you have been brain washed, DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH before passing judgement….., Ron Paul in not for Abortion nor is he an atheist, he believes in Freedom of choice for All Americans, again I say do your own research, what the Main Stream Media is telling you is a bunch of propaganda and out right lies…
Where in the world do you people get all your information…the MSM? Let me give you some facts:
Ron Paul is a Christian (Lutheran I believe).
Ron Paul is pro-life (He believes life begins at conception). While he does believe abortion is wrong, he also strongly believes in civil liberties and the rights of STATES to determine their own laws regarding abortion and drugs.
He does not advocate legalizing all drugs. He believes only the states have the right to decide which drugs to legalize and which not to legalize. In other words, he believes local state governments have the power given to them under our Constitution to govern themselves in all those things not mandated specifically in the Constitution to the federal government. What is the federal government mandated to do? Provide national defense.
Please, for the sake of our future – research for truth, not what is fed to you by the MSM.
Fact: Obama’s biggest donor during the 2008 election – Goldman Sachs; Romney’s biggest donor this election cycle – Goldman Sachs. Do you really think there is going to be a vast difference in their policies?
Fact: Ron Paul’s biggest donors – small donations from individual Americans, veterans, and enlisted servicemen.
Fact: Ron Paul has never participated in the congressional benefit package. Ron Paul has always returned a large portion of his budget to the Treasury.
Fact: Ron Paul has never participated in a government junket.
Fact: Ron Paul has never accepted Medicare or Medicaid from his patients – donating his time insead.
Now, who would you rather see represent us, the people, in the White House?
This not about Ron Paul or Romney, this is not about party politics, this is not about personal ambition. This is about the future of the United States of America, the republic and the constitution that a million Americans have died to defend over the last 236 years. If the smart backroom professional politicians don’t understand this then they need to get out of the way.
Amen!
What the hell are you talking about? Paul is an atheist? Good god you people really don’t take time to conduct research.
what the corrupt GOP And the media refuse to acknowlege is, this is a direct result of the GOP fraudulently rigging the straw poll vote without having the people to back it up, Ron Paul won those primaries just like the polls showed
Go Ron Paul go!! This is awesome.
what the corrupt GOP And the media refuse to acknowlege is, this is a direct result of the GOP fraudulently rigging the straw poll vote without having the people to back it up, Ron Paul won those primaries just like the polls showed
The Ron Paul backers as you put it are the American People fool.
Here is what Ben Franklin said about HOPE
“He that lives upon hope will die fasting
Time for change RON PAUL 2012
RON PAUL took IOWA today and taking NEVADA tonight.
The huge ROMNEY delegate lead was a BIG LIE … it never existed.
Lies? Just what I expect. Nothing to see here, Folks, move on.
This may go Nation Wide!……………,,,
keeping my finger crossed
A few states so far! The GOP is concentrating so hard on keeping Ron Paul from becoming president, they’re a bit blind-sided by the take-overs.
When Paul voters say they won’t vote for Mitt if he is the nominee, the establishment cries and claim a vote for Paul is a vote for Obama.
Now that Paul is showing signs there is still a chance he could win, the establishment cries they won’t vote for Paul if he is the nominee. By their same logic, wouldn’t they be voting for Obama? #hypocrites
wah wah wah is all I hear from the ‘good ole boys’ network…
Watching the GOP Clown Car in action is just too much fun.
LOL!
“But Chairman Webster called Ron Paul supporters wingnuts, he saw us as a
fringe minority; now we hold the power of the convention.”
Say what………… now that is funny, where is that black kettle of mine. I wonder which of these two groups the American people find to be fringe minorities, come November, maybe both.
Imperial Officer: “We’ve analyzed their attack, sir, and there is a danger. Should I have your ship standing by?” Grand Moff Tarkin: “Evacuate? In our moment of triumph? I think you overestimate their chances!”
Romney – The Architect of Obamacare.
Actually idiot…Ron Paul is a staunch Christian man…If you’d take a few minutes to learn about a a real American hero your kids would thank you.
LMFAO!!!! You think our current foreign policy actually helps us? I bet you also believe there is a jihadist under your bed…I used to be like you….believed everything I was told to believe…..
Why all the negative sentiment? Real hope and change is igniting in brushfires across America.
The end of 100 years of debt slavery and tax bondage is America is on the way.
The criminal FED/IRS Complex is about to be abolished and economic liberty in America restored.
The corrupt GOP is being dismantled.
Did you really think the RNC was out to beat Obama?
They have an 8 year deal with the Democrats to occupy the White House.
Don’t you see McCain was a deliberate loser so the Democrats could have their turn robbing and enslaving Americans for their special interest parties?

~Ask yourself…
~Are you any better off?

Sorry for your losses in Maine… you Establishment, Status Quo, Republicans.

But hopefully you’ll come around to what real Republicanism is.

No more slavery to the U.N., NATO, Agenda 21, TSA, NSA, IRS endless wars and multiple tours of duty in war zones, exposed to depleted uranium…

Are you ready for peace, prosperity and liberty?
Amen
The Crooked Romney Hacks were handing out fake Ron Paul slates in Nevada… Spread the Truth!
http://imgur.com/uPoh6
Charlie Webster is a disgrace to Maine. He is incapable of running a meeting anyways, vote tallying was a cluster&*#&. Ron Paul supporters didn’t “take over” anything. We voted, as is tradition, on who would be the chairperson and secretary for the meeting. There were enough people who believed the objections and voice of the majority would be railroaded by Charlie Webster and his predecided establishment friends and installed someone who was capable of controlling a meeting according to Robert’s Rules of Order and did so in a fair manner. The Romney campaign then pulled out every dirty trick they could imagine to stall, disrupt, postpone the process and try to confuse RP delegates into voting for their delegates by forging slate sheets.
I am truly disturbed by the underhanded tactics that were resorted to from the Romney camp to attempt to squash a clear majority. This only shows the true face of the establishment candidates as swindlers, liars and thieves who musn’t be trusted in any way.
These people think they can lead the country and they can’t even lead their own party.
Wow circular firing squads, or just two lines of firing squads shooting at each other. Either way I am delighted.
“The convention began early Saturday with more than 3,000 Maine Republicans filing into the Augusta Civic Center.”
I can’t believe there are that many complete fools still willing to be labeled “R” in this state. So sad to think.
If you are scared of Ron Paul, you are scared of yourself.
The state caucus system is idiotic – the Maine GOP needs a regular primary like everyone else
Corporations are people, my friend! In a primary, not a caucus, money will often buy the election. With no Super-Pacs a primary might be a good idea, but only provided there is a paper trail, since the use of voting machines is another popular way of stealing an election.
The American system at its best is a beautiful thing. More often than not it works as a cleptocracy. There are better systems: Australia and Ireland have single transferable vote elections, which is superior. These two countries are not perfect; there are no primaries.
It’s a good day
Unfortunately, the two counties that left to vote did so on their own accord. The Chair was still chairing the convention. No one knew that two counties left and voted with no instruction to do so until someone had made a point of order stating that it was a breach of security to let ballots go out unmonitored and to have votes cast with no monitoring…who does that and then complains that they’ve been wronged? No side wants to have to go through a recount after the fact. There has to be checks and balances. It was motioned for all counties to be broken by county and to commence with voting for their county committees and delegates but us counties did not do so until we were told it was time and we were given instructions on how to conduct the voting so there would be no question as to the integrity. Two counties to go off on there own in my opinion was asking for trouble. They had opportunity to revote when the rest of us did so according to agenda and direction, but they refused.
Well when the establishment simply expects the party members to be nothing more than willing sheep that will back whoever they tell them is leader then the people should cast off those leaders and demand new ones. Kind of like Christian conservatives that are expected to vote for a baby killer simply for the (R) next to his name and really plastic hair.
Watching from Michigan in anticipation of Paul Victory ! A victory for America
“Take-over” and “Fractured mess?” No, it’s called “We the people speak.” BDN, have you forgotten what that looks like?
Ron Paul is the ONLY abolishonist candidate.
He will abolish the current state of slavery you have endured under the monetary monopoly known as the federal reserve system.
All your black presidential candidate offers is the continuation of the ongoing monetary enslavement of his own people….
question: what does skin color have to so with it?
answer: nothing
Nice try you scummy Rombots…you failed…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcgOuuM1VkM
“To those who say Ron Paul delegate strategy is unethical: What about the GOP Establishment
caucus strategy? Lie, cheat, hide votes, don’t count votes, count votes
in secret, invent more caucuses, cancel caucuses, throw out whole
precincts, throw out whole counties, TELL the precincts what their
totals are, change voting times, change voting places, change the rules
on primary day, let dead people vote, add “digits” for favored
candidates, stop counting votes when they’re ahead, cancel conventions,
target delegates for removal, replace delegates that have gone 1/2 way
through the process with hacks, form combined slates to erase a
plurality, break Roberts Rules of Order, arrest those using Roberts
Rules correctly, give phony numbers to the media, take money from
Goldman Sachs, take money from billionaires with hidden agendas, ignore
candidates they don’t like, lie about candidates they don’t like, use
vote flipping machines……the list goes on and on and on…. It’s going to be a looooooong time until you establishment pricks can accuse us of stooping to anywhere near your level.”
Takeover is strong language. In fact, it was premature to announce a winner until after the state convention! I don’t think we should have primaries, every state should have caucuses so that the best candidates are vetted and so that the people with the most passion and organization have their voices heard.
This was my 3rd convention too and this was by far the most energizing and interesting!
Ron Paul 2012! :-) I can’t wait to go back tomorrow and take my place as a delegate!
Does “premature” in this instance mean “dishonest”?
then u must be a younger man or sheeple roostookguy,,,ur textbooks are lying too u…we are a republic with a democratic system,,,we are not a democratic republic…russia is a democratic republic..thats why they teach our kids socialism in school…wake up
Not a house divided–it was DEMOCRACY in action, which is the way the conventions should be run, but have not been in a long time.
I would fear seeing Romney debate Obama. Obama would fear a debate with Ron Paul.
Romney supporters caught on video trying to cheat and sabotage the convention:
http://adventuresinautism.blogspot.com/2012/05/romney-campaign-shennegans-at-maine-gop.html?m=1
What your reporter fails to mention is that when one decides to run for an office such as chairman of a Political Party Convention it would help to have a working knowledge of Parliamentary Procedure such that one does not make dunderheaded mistakes which are likely to cost Maine’s Delegates regardless of the candidate they support their seats at the National Convention.
Amazing how many articles I have read about Paul supporters taking the lead in delegates or such and the “writers” use “presumptive nominee” to describe romney in every single one of them – every single one! Look freaks, no many how many times you say “presumptive nominee” we’re not buying it. Propaganda doesn’t work when people recognize what it is.
If Romney is so solid to get the nom, then why did the Establishment GOP try every trick in the book to stop Paul’s Liberty forces? The answer is obvious.
And as for this article – nice try to “blame” the Paul people for all the shnanigans – how’s that crow tasting?
If Webster lost his power in the party, He is of no use to them anymore..(-;
Ron Paul. This generation’s Lyndon LaRouche. The supporters of both have much in common.
If the Romney people don’t like the convention taking a lot longer than it’s supposed to, perhaps they should stop trying to defraud all the voters there. Check out this video of what happened there. This kind of trickery and other similar tactics are being employed all over the country because the Romney folks know they cannot stop the rEVOLution fair and square, because they don’t have the numbers behind them. So they play dirty.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?&v=IcgOuuM1VkM
As is usual and appropriate for a Ron Paul supporter, I will attempt to be civil. If I fail, forgive me. I just spent a 17 hour day at the Nevada convention with more to come tomorrow. We were bouyed by the news from Maine. God bless the freedom-fighters everywhere!
As for you newly-minted and often half-hearted Romney-backers, answer me one question please. You point out that Obama is ‘dangerous’, ‘unacceptable’,’a disaster in the making’ and on and on. You are preaching to the choir, so I ask you this,
AT A TIME LIKE THIS, HOW CAN ‘ANYONE BUT OBAMA’ BE GOOD ENOUGH FOR AMERICA??!!!
People don’t read posts typed in all caps, unless they are also 7 years old.
Who cares what that pompous little weasel Gardner has to say after the fiasco he, Webster and their thug buddies allowed to occur (if not co-orchestrated) at the Washington county caucus? He yaps about votes not being counted?! Ludicrous! Paul supporters are simply exercising their rights as honest Maine republican voters and Gardner, Chairman Charlie Mao-Webster and their cronies displayed disgusting behavior, dividing and destroying the Maine republican part in the process. They tried every dirty trick at their disposal to trivialize, insult, bully, degrade and ridicule the thousands of honest Mainers whose only fault was prefering a candidate other than the one they had picked out, and if they could, they’d hang all the Paul supporters! Get these bums out of the spotlight! Yech!
In a slightly simpler time, I am thinking they woulda been swinging from a high tree branch. Now that wee are straining gnats and swallowing camels, the psychopaths have no accountability. About time some voters got some guts and remembered Jericho and the God they claim to love and quit counting beans like slaves, and accept that the battle is the Lords’ whether or not their role is comic to the heathen.
It’s exciting to watch the Electile Dysfunction of the republican party.
All power to the Paulists!!!!!
They don’t “takeover” they “SHOW UP”. Ya, his message is that passionate enough, the people will get off the couch and walk away from the brainwash box to finally do something about the wrong direction this country is headed.
Now, if only LePage could add his $.02 worth, the circle would be complete !
Republican Party = Professional Wrestling.
well now…. if you break the rules and think you are in charge of how it all works .. you lose… Webster and Co. found that out and so be it…. perhaps Romney isn’t the guy who should be the nominee.. it’s the people who decide this.. not Webster.. looks like the people have decided
Bwahahahaha…It is the foolish leading the fools at the GOP Clown Party Convention. Well, no matter. Come November the good rational people of Maine are going to send the Goofy Old Party packing in a big way.
“Do you know who I (we) are ! ” and “we are in charge” just ask me ! Sounds like democracy took over and the majority won the right to delegate selection? I’d say Mainers at their best, showing the “people” are still in charge?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcgOuuM1VkM&feature=youtube_gdata_player
The Republican Pledge of Allegiance: “We, the Greedy Old Party, pledge our complete allegiance to Grover Norquist, ALEC, and the Koch Brothers, who are out to destroy the middle class, and to the billionaires and big corporations for which we stand, one corporate plutocracy, under The Devil, with despair and injustice for the vast majority of the country as we laugh at them and buy ourselves more vacation homes and hide our money in the Caymans and Swiss Bank Accounts, Amen.”
There is talk and video surfacing that the Romney Campaign, instead of paying people to vote for and become delegates (because he has no majority of people, only cash flow), is instead trying to divide the votes by changing the circulars with the names of who’s who to be a delegate. Why can’t the coward just buy his way to the convention like the usual RINO’s do and stop playing unfairly…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IcgOuuM1VkM
Mittens is so not Presidential material. Billions of dollars in the bank and he won’t cough up a few hundred grand to buy a few delegates. But he is right in line with the middle class people and grew up poor. right lol
No Kings, No Wars.
No one but Dr. Paul
Ron Paul 2012
Restore America Now!!!
“Take over?” Did the Republicans who support Ron Paul cheat or defraud or violently seize power? Or did they follow the rules and demonstrate greater support and enthusiasm amoung the active GOP rank-and-file than the establishment Republicans?
There is plenty of video surfacing that show the Ron Paul people only followed the rules. We have power in numbers that Mittens can not duplicate and seems to be unwilling to part with his almighty dollar to help himself succeed. Showing his true colors for sure.
MA-NE.net: The Nevada GOP convention from h***…
COMMENT FROM A LIBERAL.
Since I am voting for Obama again I want to tell you what this looks like from the outside.
A circular firing squad. A gift to my candidate, but at the same time Paul winning shows the weakness in the current GOP. Mittens will say anything to get elected, just tell him the answer even if it was different yesterday.
Paul, is not afraid to say anything which is a huge difference. He knows he is seen by many a a wacko, but what he said years ago is what he says now, crazy or not, he is consistent.
What is frightening to a liberal is the real chance that Paul could grab the nomination. When one only listens to some of his ideas like ending the wars, downsizing the military mission, he can attract even a low information liberal. When one reviews his history of bigotry, and the chaos that would be caused by his ability to stay focused, unlike Mittens he gets scary.
The best thing about this from any point of view is that the establishment GOP after trying to steal the nomination in Maine has had their faces rubbed in “the way things should be” one person, one vote and maybe this could lead to a party with ideas that can govern with the other side instead of just saying NO while being in the pay of corporations.
Paul won’t win the presidency, but I thank him for kicking the crooked GOP vote fraud machine.
Obama 2012
LePage, Out the door in 20-one-four.
Why would you want to govern with the other side?
Same here.
At least we Democrats hold *municipal* caucuses, everyone has a legitimate ballot to cast–including sealed absentee ballots (all are counted ethically); and Chairs & related municipal officers are voted on by caucus attendees.
Thrilled to see a four vote squeaker (as well as Plowman’s *whining* about her precious “speech” being cut short).
Boo-freakin’-hoo!!
Dump (recall) Webster as your state Chair, folks.
I looooooove a four point squeaker victory~
I agree with the many comments poking fun at the republican party, however, after we take over by majority, the republican party will represent the will of the people once again. That will leave the democrats to the establishment. Then they will have only one “party” to work with.
Paul supporters ought to see this is a doomed and weakening effort for the party. Too bad they prevailed in this silliness.
A vote for Mitt Romney is a vote for 8 more years of Obama’s policies.
A vote for Mitt Romney is a vote for 8 more years of Obama & Bush policies.
Why this country isn’t outraged at the obvious attempt to silence ron pau is beyond me!
Remember 2000?! The election was stolen!! No one did a darn thing about it!!!!
We deserve what we get
“The last stand of Paul supporters”? Hey Timberlake, we’re just getting started!
Rand Paul 2016!
If the Maine Republican Party wants true unity, and actually beat Obama this winter, then they should get together and get behind the candidate who won THE CONVENTION not the meaningless straw poll (which Charlie often stated was meaningless and what would count was this)
Ron Paul now has the momentum in this nomination process, and it s not being covered by the main stream media, has to be covered by lesser media and social media. He has now won the majority of delegates from 7 states and the ball keeps rolling, and it is only rolling so fast because the heads of the GOP thought from some reason the people would palate Romney even after 4 years of constant rejection and luke-warm numbers.
The people are speaking and saying we want a chance to beat Obama in 2012, and if the candidate is Mitt Romney we won’t. Ron Paul is the only person who will draw the independents and even some democrats (who cares who they are a vote against Obama is a vote against Obama)If you really want true party unity you have to realize the party is evolving (look at party history over time, Republicans freed the slaves, and carried the black vote well until the late 1900s. Now what % of the african american population can the Republican party get?) Since parties are always evolving you must go with it or split apart.Again, if you truly want party unity, I would start warming up to Ron Paul and his ideas because from evidence all across the country, the ideas are here and they are here to stay (until the next time the party evolves)People just have never liked change (especially when they are starting to partially realize they have been duped)
Makes me glad I am unenrolled
Only FAKE conservatives vote for Romney!
I am a converted democrat because of Dr. Ron Paul. My choice for president these past several elections regardless of my registered party affiliation have not panned out. I do not vote along party lines but having Ron Paul on the ticket to right the ship is so very important for our children and liberties as a whole. Those of us who grew up in the 60’s & 70’s should transcend in time and recall what the message was back then and open our eyes at the fickle we are in today. This is OUR revolution with teeth and strength and I ask that we do not squander this opportuntity to finally have a voice in OUR country. IN GOD WE TRUST!
Actually, it’s a prime example of why more states should hold caucuses instead of primaries.
