Bangor 44, Brewer 39
At Bangor, sophomore forward Kate Treadwell scored all 12 of her points in the second half and Brieanna Tocci hit a 3-pointer from the left corner with just over two minutes to play to give Bangor the lead for good.
Treadwell, who was battling the flu, put the game away with a fast-break layup off a missed Brewer free throw with just over a minute remaining in regulation.
She also had 12 rebounds.
Both teams struggled on the offensive end early, and the Witches took a 14-10 lead into half-time despite going scoreless from the field in the second quarter.
The Rams finally broke out of their funk after halftime, scoring the first seven points of the second half, but Brewer kept fighting, thanks to the perimeter shooting of Holly Nickerson and Amy Adams, who collaborated for 18 second-half points, all from 3-point range.
Hillary Throckmorton was the game’s high scorer with 19 points for the 2-1 Rams, and she also had seven steals and eight rebounds. Kim Jordan contributed four assists.
Nickerson led 1-3 Brewer with 12 points while Adams had eight.
