MILLINOCKET – Randolph A. Brown, 74, died at a Lincoln hospital Tues-day, July 27, 2004. He was born Nov. 22, 1929, in Millinocket, the son of Theodore “Bob” and Dorothy (Leathers) Brown. Ranny was a longtime resident of Millinocket where he was a graduate of Stearns High School. He joined the Navy in 1948 and proudly served his country. Following his discharge, he returned to Millinocket to work for Great Northern Paper Company until his retirement in 1986. Ranny was also a member of American Legion Post No. 80 and B.P.O.E. Lodge No. 1521. Ranny was an accomplished athlete. He attended the Brooklyn Dodgers tryout camp in 1947, but, most people will remember him for his great skill and enthusiasm for candlepin bowling. Ranny won the title for high single game twice, high three games six times, and high average an impressive nine times. He was a member of 18 championship teams, including local, Eastern Maine, State, as well as the World Championship Team of 1965. He also enjoyed fishing and every opportunity to spend time at camp with family and friends. He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Clara L. (Thorpe) Brown of Lee; a daughter, Dorothy Brown of Lowell, Mass.; a son, Gary and wife, Chris Brown, of Framingham, Mass.; his step-children, David and wife, Marie Noyes, of San Jose, Calif., Ben and wife, Nancy Noyes, of Gray; a daughter-in-law, Claudia Noyes of Mattawamkeag; two sisters, Elaine and husband, Bud Dionne, of Arizona, Nadine and husband, Earl Webster, of Millinocket; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a stepson, George B. Noyes III; and a grandson, George B. Noyes, IV. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2004, at R. L. Bouchard Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where a funeral service will be held 4 p.m. with the Rev. Rudy Homchuck officiating.
