EDWARD D. REIF BANGOR – Edward D. Reif, 64, died July 23, 2004, at home with his family. He was born Jan. 2, 1940, in Newark, N.J., the son of Edward F. Reif and Eleanor I. (Munsing) Reif. Since his early childhood, Ed loved the outdoors. He graduated from Rutgers University, Newark, N.J., and earned his master’s degree from Clark University in Worcester, Mass. After teaching psychology at Bangor Community College in the 1970s, he decided to devote himself full-time to his true love, fishing. He opened Eddie’s Flies and Tackle in Bangor, then became a Maine Guide, leading fishing trips for small mouth bass on the Penobscot. Ed was active in many conservation organizations. He will be remembered as kind, generous and strongly opinionated. His sense of humor will be missed. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joan; his children, Andrea, Chris and Erika; two brothers, Harry and Jerry; two nephews; and by countless fishing buddies throughout the country. A memorial service will be held 12 noon Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the Riverfront Park, Main St., Old Town. The family invites relatives and friends to a reception at Guiness and Porcelli’s, 735 Main St., Bangor, following the service.
