Top-ranked Boothbay’s undefeated season continues all the way to the state championships, after the Seahawks beat No. 3 North Yarmouth Academy 49-31 for the girls’ Class C South crown on Saturday at the Augusta Civic Center.

Boothbay’s season record improves to 21-0.

The Seahawks will next face the winner of tonight’s contest between No. 4 Penobscot Valley (17-4) and No. 2 Dexter (17-3) in the Class C North finals. That game will take place Saturday, March 2 at 7:05 p.m. at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor.

Boothbay last made it to a state final in 2016, when the Seahawks fell to Narraguagus 33-25. Boothbay made it to the regional finals in 2018 but lost to eventual state champions Monmouth Academy, 51-47.

The Seahawks beat No. 8 Saint Dominic Academy 32-26 in the quarterfinals, and No. 13 Madison 55-13 in the semifinals.

NYA’s season ends with a 16-5 record.

The Panthers defeated No. 6 Monmouth Academy in the quarterfinals 52-26, and upset No. 2 Winthrop with a 55-34 victory in the semifinals.
