Top-seeded Forest Hills clinched its spot in the boys’ Class D state championship game for the first time since they captured the gold ball in 2015, defeating No. 2 Temple Academy of Waterville 69-47 on Saturday afternoon at the Augusta Civic Center.

The Tigers will now advance to the Class D state finals to compete for the gold ball against No. 4 Schenck on Saturday, March 2 at 3:45 p.m. at the Cross Insurance Center in Bangor. Schenck won the D North title earlier Saturday morning after defeating No. 2 Jonesport-Beals 70-47.

Forest Hills remains undefeated this season, with a record of 21-0.

The Tigers ousted the defending Class D state champions, No. 5 Greenville, from the tournament in the semifinals, winning 72-37. They toppled No. 8 Seacoast Christian 85-33 in the quarterfinals.

Temple’s season ends with a 15-6 record. The team defeated No. 3 Valley 57-52 in the semifinals and No. 7 Pine Tree Academy 63-44 in the quarterfinals.
