The girls of No. 2 Temple Academy knocked the defending Class D South regional champions No. 7 Vinalhaven out of the tourney on Monday morning, defeating the team with a score of 54-40.

Hannah Hubbard scored 18 points to lead Temple Academy, while Hope Huff scored 13 and hauled down 11 rebounds for the Vikings, according to Don Shields of 105.5 FM, The Wolf.

Temple’s record improves to 15-4 for the season. Vinalhaven’s season ends with a 3-16 record.

Vinalhaven will go on to play No. 3 Greenville in the semifinals on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. at the Augusta Civic Center. Greenville defeated No. 6 Pine Tree Academy 37-16 in a Monday morning quarterfinal game.
