Sears Auto Center at the Bangor Mall is seen two days before its planned shutdown on Wednesday.

The Sears Auto Center at the Bangor Mall will shut down at the close of business this Wednesday, the store manager said.

The auto center remained open after the main Sears store, one of the four anchor tenants at the Bangor Mall, closed in April.

“We will close at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 21,” said Mark Daigle, the manager of the Bangor Sears Auto Center. “The closing only affects this shop in Maine.”

Daigle, who has worked for the company for 12 years, said the closure affects six employees, including himself. He said it isn’t clear yet what options Sears might offer them.

Representatives from Sears Holdings and the Bangor Mall did not immediately return requests for comment.

Sears Auto’s website lists two other locations in Maine, in South Portland at the Maine Mall and in Brunswick. Both locations also have a Sears store still open.

“I don’t know yet what I’ll do,” Daigle said when asked if Sears Auto had offered the auto center staff positions at the other Maine stores. “It’s all so new. We just heard about this last Thursday.”

Daigle said the auto center is offering deep discounts its last couple days, including 15 percent off on all tires and 50 percent off of four Cooper, Continental or Goodyear tires in stock.
