BREWER, Maine — A local man arrested last month on charges of sexual exploitation of a minor and sexual abuse of a minor is back behind bars after Brewer police executed a search warrant at his home and uncovered evidence suggesting that he violated a condition of his release.

Kirk Panther, 21, of Brewer was arrested on Nov. 18 after a three-week investigation and the execution of two search warrants by Brewer police Sgt. Jay Munson, Brewer police Lt. Chris Martin said at that time.

Panther was arraigned the following day the Penobscot Judicial Center, Martin said. He subsequently was released on $2,500 cash bail, a Penobscot County Jail official confirmed. Panther’s bail conditions include that he not have contact with the victim or her family.

On Wednesday, Brewer police determined that Panther had not abided by that condition of his release, Martin said Thursday.

“He continued to have contact with the victim and the officers executed a search warrant obtained evidence in support of that and arrested him,” Martin said.

Sexual exploitation of a minor is a Class B felony that carries a minimum mandatory sentence of five years in prison. Sexual abuse of a minor is a Class D crime punishable by up to one year in jail.
