BASEBALL

BANGOR — Boston Red Sox vs. Detroit Tigers, Cyr Motor Coach Bus Trip to Fenway Park, Saturday, May 17. First pitch at 7:10 p.m. This event is a fundraiser to bring the 2014 American Legion Baseball State Tournament to the campus of Husson University in Bangor in July. ELLSWORTH — Acadians Post 207 American Legion baseball tryouts for kids ages 15-19 from Ellsworth High School, George Stevens Academy, MDI High School, Deer Isle-Stonington High School, Sumner High School, Narraguagus High School, Washington Academy, Calais High School, Woodland High School and Shead, will be held at 1 p.m Sundays, May 18 and 25 and June 8, at Ellsworth High School. GOLF

BREWER —The Brewer Parks & Recreation Department is offering a four-week program Golf “Fore” Women, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Thursdays, beginning May 15, at Pine Hill Golf Club. The group lessons are designed for players of all levels and will include fundamentals for the beginner as well as tips for the experienced player. PGA pro Mark Hall will provide instruction. BAR HARBOR — 21st annual David R. Harding Memorial Golf Tournament on June 3, at Kebo Valley Golf Club in Bar Harbor (rain date is June 10). This year the hole-in-one prizes will be a 2014 Subaru Impreza from Stanley Subaru and a 2014 Chevy Camaro RS convertible from Darling’s Chevrolet. Mount Desert Island Search and Rescue is the beneficiary of this year’s charity tournament hosted by Bar Harbor Bank & Trust. Scramble format tournament (18 holes) with a noon shotgun start. EAST VASSALBORO — The 24th annual Maine Black Bears football and Bob Browne Memorial Golf Outing is scheduled for Friday, June 20, at Natanis Country Club. Scramble style with a shotgun start at 9 a.m., followed by dinner and awards. A fee of $100 includes greens fees and cart. Arrive no later than 8:30 a.m. for registration. BREWER — Four-person scramble golf tournament 7:30 a.m.-noon, June 21, Pine Hill Golf Course, with all proceeds benefiting the Semper Fi Fund, a non-profit organization which provides financial assistance and lifetime support for critically injured members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. LACROSSE

BANGOR — Eastern Maine Youth Lacrosse will have games all day Saturday, May 10. The seventh and eighth grade boys will travel to the Camden Snow Bowl for two games beginning at 10 a.m., and the Union Street Athletic Fields will have games beginning at 10 a.m. and running through the afternoon for all other grade levels. ROAD RACING

BATH — The third annual “MURPH 5-Mile Trail Race,” May 10, at the McMann Athletic Complex on Congress Avenue. Walkers start at 9 a.m. and runners at 10 a.m. The event honors Lt. TRIATHLON

DANFORTH — East Grand Adventure Race, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. May 10, 20 miles, including 1.5 miles off-trail compass run, which could include a river traverse depending on conditions, 10 miles of mountain biking and eight miles of paddling of canoe or kayak. Extra challenges in the field may include a mud crawl, two-person cross cut saw competition, tomahawk throwing and log rolling. Divisions: race in pairs in the high school boys, girls, mixed; Adult men, women, mix; Jr./Sr. The open division can by solo, teams of any size, relay, kayak or canoe. Entry fee is $20 per person which includes trophies,Proceeds benefit East Grand School’s outdoor education program. Registration deadline is Friday, May 9.
