Madison police probing thefts, burglaries of vehicles

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

MADISON, Maine — Local police are investigating a pair of vehicle thefts and numerous other motor vehicle burglaries that were reported over the weekend.

The thefts and burglaries all occurred Sunday morning, according to Madison police Cpl. Joe Mitchell.

The corporal said both vehicles that were stolen were recovered on Sunday, but no arrests were made. He estimated between eight and 10 other vehicles were broken into.

Among the items that were taken from other vehicles included loose change, compact discs and battery-operated hand tools, Mitchell said.

Mitchell said the public is being advised to keep their vehicles locked and not leave keys inside.

Anyone with information on the case, which remains under investigation Monday, can contact Madison police at 696-5373.
