CLINTON, Maine — A former employee of the Super 95 One Stop on the Hinckley Road apparently robbed the place Saturday night while wielding a hammer, said Police Chief Craig Johnson in a Sunday news release.

A store clerk called police at about 7:50 saying Jeremy Holt, 23, a former employee, had just robbed the store. Officer David Cobb took the report and alerted local police agencies to be on the lookout for the Clinton man and the blue 2001 Ford Focus he was seen driving.

Pittsfield police Officer Jeff Vanadestine located the vehicle on Johnson Flat Road near the Clinton-Pittsfield town line and assisted Cobb in locating and arresting Holt.

Holt was charged with armed robbery and taken to Kennebec County Jail, where he remained Sunday night, a jail official said.

The robbery remains under investigation. Those with information can contact Sgt. Rusty Bell at the Clinton Police Department at 426-9192.
