HAMPDEN – Ashley Elizabeth McCarthy, 21, passed away unexpectedly Nov. 20, 2013, at her home. She was born April 28, 1992, in Bangor, to Barry S. and Gail (Leonard) McCarthy.
Ashley was a 2010 graduate of Hampden Academy. She worked as a CNA at Maine Veterans Home, Bangor, an organization that she was proud to be affiliated with. She loved scrap booking, taking walks or rides with Caleb, fishing with her Dad, hanging out with her best friend, her Mom, as well spending time with her brothers, Matt and Joe, and many friends and relatives. Ashley will be remembered as a loving daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, companion and friend.
Ashley is survived by her parents, Barry and Gail McCarthy; her brothers, B.J., Jamie, and Matthew McCarthy, and Joseph Leonard; her half sister, Jennifer Sewell; her paternal grandmother, Janice McCarthy; her maternal grandmother, Gloria Leonard; aunts and uncles, Bobby and Ann McCarthy, Donnie and Heather McCarthy, Michelle and Danny Williams, Debbie McCarthy and Larry Campbell, William and Debbie Spaulding, Patty and Glen Newey, and William and Lisa Leonard; her loving boyfriend, Caleb Miles; as well as many cousins, and friends. Ashley was predeceased by her paternal grandfather, Harold McCarthy; and her maternal grandfather, William Leonard Sr.
Family and friends are invited to visit 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden, where a funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, with the Rev. Dick Woehr officiating. Interment will be immediately following the funeral at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden.
