BANGOR – Kenneth Ivan Sands died peacefully June 10, 2013, after years of declining health at a Bangor hospital. He was born Nov. 7, 1958, in Bangor, to Woodford Sr. and Gloria Sands.
Kenny graduated from Bangor High School. He lived in Lubec for many years where he was so at home. Kenny loved working with wood and drawings. His knowledge of many topics was beyond his years. He was a master tradesman in carpentry. Kenny also excelled in plumbing, automotive and electrical tasks. Kenny worked at R.J. Peacock Canning Co., Lubec, for several years. He was the fastest fish shucker at the canning company. Kenny had many great friends and enjoyed gatherings, fishing and clam digging.
Along with his mother, Kenny is also survived by his siblings, Belinda Campbell of Brewer, Theresa Sands of Bangor, Woody Sands Jr. of Bangor, Dennis Sands of Bangor, Kevin Sands of Bangor, Robin Jewell of Bucksport, Alan Sands of Maryland, Holly Zapsky of Carmel and Christine Garcelon of Kenduskeag; and stepsister, Nola Atwood of Bucksport. Kenny is also survived by son, Kenny; and stepson, Mike Fergerson. Kenny also has three grandchildren, Anthony, Kenny Jr. and Joeden Fergerson, all of Lubec; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Kenny was predeceased by his father; son, Kris Fergerson, Dec. 2, 2008, after being thrown out by tidal waves while night wrinkling, as they did often in Lubec; and grandparents, Pearl and Ruby Smith of Hampden.
A service to celebrate Kenny’s life will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, June 15 at Hermon Baptist Church, Hermon.
