VAN BUREN – Irene L. Roy, 84, passed away June 7, 2013, at her home. She was born March 19, 1929, in Van Buren, daughter of Fred and Marie (Masse) Levesque.
She graduated from Sacred Heart High School and was a lifelong resident of Van Buren. She was a communicant of St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. She work for many years as a certified nurse’s aide with Borderview Rehabilitation & Living Center until her retirement; work she enjoyed very much. Her greatest joy in life was her family.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Vinal Roy of Van Buren; two daughters, Ancilla McElhinny and husband, Michael, of Methuen, Mass., and Lorna Ouellette and husband, Wayne, of Van Buren; five sons, Clayton Roy and wife, Marcia, of Lewiston, Daniel Roy of Bangor, Kenneth Roy and wife, Betty, Richard Roy, and Lee Roy and wife, Vickie, all of Van Buren; 10 grandchildren, Elliot, Stephanie, Eric, Jason, Vicky, Ashley, Lucas, Caleb, Bradlee and Shawn; seven great-grandchildren, Miranda, Nathan, Samuel, Sofia, Madison, Sydney and Abbigail; three sisters, Anne Morrow of Hamlin, Alvine Daigle of Grand Falls, New Brunswick and Gilberte Daigle of Moncton, New Brunswick; four brothers, Antoine Levesque of Van Buren, Nelson Levesque of Millinocket, Raymond Levesque and Angelo Levesque of Connecticut; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, Irene was predeceased by two daughters, who died in infancy; and four siblings, Cecile, Claudia, Therese and Arsene.
Relatives and friends may call 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, at St. Bruno-St. Remi Catholic Church. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Burial will be at the parish cemetery.
