EUGENE, Ore. — Jesse Labreck completed a stellar track and field career at the University of Maine on Friday.

The fifth-year senior from Oakland finished in 19th place in the heptathlon at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field Championships at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field. There were 24 competitors in the event.

Lindsay Vollmer of the University of Kansas won the heptathlon with 6,086 points.

Labreck, who ranked 15th after Thursday’s first four events, slipped a few spots Friday while competing in the long jump, the javelin and the 800 meters. She scored 5,423 points, which represents her second-best effort in the heptathlon.

This spring marked the only time she qualified for the NCAA championships.

Labreck started out Friday with a leap of 19 feet, 10½ inches to place sixth in the long jump. It was her best performance of the season and her longest jump in more than two years.

She went on to achieve a personal record in the javelin with a throw of 97-5. That surpassed her heave of 82-0 ¾ accomplished at the 2013 America East Outdoor Championships.

Labreck completed the competition in the 200 meters, where she was clocked in 2:24.57, her second-best time in the discipline as part of the heptathlon.

Labreck’s accomplishments at UMaine are numerous. Outdoors, she was the America East and ECAC heptathlon winner in 2013 and won open titles in the 100 hurdles and the long jump at the 2011 AE championships.

In 2010, Labreck was the AE champion in the 100 hurdles, high jump, long jump and triple jump en route to Most Outstanding Field Performer honors.

Her indoor career included the 2012 AE pentathlon title, along with open wins in the 60 hurdles, long jump and triple jump in 2011. A year earlier, Labreck won the conference high jump crown.

The former Messalonskee High School star owns several UMaine outdoor records, including the triple jump (41-0 ¼), high jump (5-11 ¾), 100 hurdles (13.45) and the heptathlon (5,551 points).

She also owns school indoor marks in the high jump (5-10), 55 hurdles (7.82), 60 hurdles (8.39) and the pentathlon (3,959).
