Earl L. Belyea

BEND, ORE., and CARIBOU – Earl L. Belyea, 85, died Nov. 24, 2012, in Bend, Ore., after a period of declining health. He was born Sept. 30, 1927, in Caribou, son of Gordon and Adelaide (Sweeny) Belyea.

Earl graduated from Caribou High School, class of 1945 and worked in the local area until his induction into the U.S. Army in November 1950, where he served two years during the Korean War. He spent two years in Maine after discharge from the Army and moved to Sacramento, Calif., area in 1954, where he lived until 2004. He was a decorated firefighter who proudly served the city of Sacramento, Calif., for 27 years, until his retirement in 1985.

He is survived by his loving wife, Dimples, who cared for him as his health declined; brothers Donald, Roger, Foye and Richard Belyea; and sisters, Ruth Bemis, Faye Campbell and Jeanette Belyea. He was predeceased by his parents, Gordon and Adelaide; brother, Kenneth; and sisters, Emily “Bette,” and Lois Whittier.

A committal service will be held 1 p.m. May 28, at Northern Maine Veterans Cemetery, Lombard Road, Caribou.
