Lewis Cole

UNITY AND THORNDIKE – Lewis Cole, 81, died March 19, 2013, at a Waterville nursing facility. He was born Jan. 6, 1932, in Thorndike, son of Marshall and Gertrude (Hustus) Cole.

He is survived by his children, Lewis Jr. and his wife, Karen, of Winterport, Alan and wife, Valerie, of Webster, Fla., Nyla Voyles and husband, David, of Sparta, Tenn., and Brian and wife, Shari, of Sidney; sisters, Janette Hayes and Brenda Letourneau; and brothers, Nelson and Stephen Cole. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Laura, Angela, Missy, Nicky, Eric, Rocky, Elisa, Sheena, Demmie, Amanda, Tisha, Jasmine and Lance; 24 great-great-grandchildren; his former wife, Marjorie Cole; and his longtime, companion Barbara McCormick.

Lewis was a member of Unity Lodge No.0058, Thorndike, for 54 years and a member of the Josiah H. Drummond No. 91 Order of the Eastern Star for 50 years. He was also a charter member of the Maine Professional Guides Association. There was nothing he enjoyed more than the smile on a hunters face when they were at the bottom of a tree with their pack of hounds looking up at a large black bear. He will be greatly missed by all of his family, friends and hunting companions around the state.

Visiting hours will be held 4-6 p.m. Friday, March 22, at Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast. The funeral will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Unity Union Church. Online condolences may be offered at www.ripostafh.com.
