Search for snowmobilers missing since December to continue Wednesday

By Ryan McLaughlin, BDN Staff

RANGELEY, Maine — Recovery efforts for three snowmobilers missing since December and presumed dead will resume on Wednesday.

Cpl. John MacDonald of the Maine Warden Service said a remotely operated vehicle will be utilized in attempts to locate the submerged bodies of Kenneth Henderson, 40, of China; Glenn Henderson, 43, of Sabattus; and John Spencer, 41, of Litchfield.

All three men have been missing since Dec. 31, when their snowmobiles plunged into the lake.

MacDonald said wardens will be on standby should the ROV detect one or all three of the missing men. Water depths in the search area are at a minimum of 100 feet deep, he added.

Search efforts have been suspended since mid-January due to ice conditions on the lake.
