SURRY – Marjorie C. Curtis, 83, passed away Dec. 21, 2012, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital with her family at her side. She was born Jan. 18, 1929, daughter of Robert T. and Merle A. Carlisle.
She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1947. In the same year she married Charles Davis and together they had five children. Marjorie was a well-known bank teller for Union Trust Co. and retired in 1991. She had a passion for gardening and creating things with her hands. She made Christmas wreaths every year for many years. It was a very special time of the year for her. The whole family was involved at one time or another in the wreath making process. She taught everyone that was willing how to make the perfect wreath and in some cases even the unwilling. She remarried in 1972 to Fred Curtis. They built a house in Surry where they both have lived and watched their family grow. Marjorie was an incredible woman with a kind heart and good soul. She truly was one of the great ones. She was “Mom” or “Grammie” to a lot of people, family or not. She will forever be in our hearts.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, Fred Curtis of Surry; children, Elizabeth and William Knight of Dover-Foxcroft, Sherry and Donald Saunders of Ellsworth, Susan and Fred Thompson of Bucksport, Blaine and Debbie Davis of Blue Hill, and Bob and Sue Davis of Surry; stepchildren, Jamie and Janice Curtis of Woodland, and Vivian and Chris Tinker of Perry; grandchildren, John and Shauna Cousins, Mike and Stacey Cousins, Susie and Jason Reiland, Matt and Rhonda Cousins, Betsy and William Emerson, Andrea and Kenny Webber, Hillary and Phil Rusecky, Lindy Saunders, Renee and Josh Caron, Carli Davis, Stephi Davis, Brittany and Tyler Damon, Lindy Curtis, Josh Curtis, Jamie-Lynn Curtis, Adam Curtis, Todd Townsend, and Corey Townsend; great-grandchildren, Zachary Cousins, Kaytlin Cousins, Lauren Cousins, Abbie Cousins, Adam Cousins, Caleb Cousins, Ethan Reiland, Luke Reiland, Victoria Reiland, Sophia Cousins, Owen Cousins, Nathan and Devan Emerson, Mallori Emerson, Quinton Webber, Kaleb Webber, Kameron Jordan, Austin Rusecky, Nickson Rusecky, Maddison Damon, Owen Damon, Elaine Harvey and Gavin Townsend; and one great-great-grandchild, Hunter Emerson.
