MILO – Glenice U. Smart, 83, wife of the late Sgt. Harry A. Smart, U.S. Army, retired, died Jan. 4, 2013, surrounded by her loving family at a Bangor hospital. She was born July 20, 1929, in Dover-Foxcroft, daughter of Albert and Vera (Boynton) Shannon.
Glenice had traveled extensively for many years while her husband served with the military and was a member of American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Glenice loved going out to eat, trips to the coast, picnics at Peaks Kenny State Park and Christmas shopping in Portland. Most important to Glenice was the time that she spent with her family.
She is survived by her children, Christine Martin and husband, Donald Sr., of Brownville, Jeff Smart and wife, Sandy, of Brownville Junction, Deborah Smart of Milo, Karen Hogan and husband, Donald, of Glenburn, and Kelly-Jo Smart of Milo; five grandchildren, Tammy Murano and husband, Jay, DJ Martin and wife, Stacie, Selina Carey and husband, Ryan, Mandy Snider and husband, Jason, Andrew Smart, and Shelby Hogan; seven great-grandchildren, Anthony, Joshua, Alyssa, Jeremy, Gaige, Aidan and Caroline; two sisters, Barbara Giles and husband, John, of Dover-Foxcroft, and Vivian Chadwick of Brunswick; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Ruth and Eva; and brother, Linwood. Glenice will now be remembered as dancing with the love of her life, Harry.
Friends are invited to call noon until time of memorial service 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Lary Funeral Home, Milo. Burial will be in the spring in the family lot at Evergreen Cemetery, Milo.
