Josephine ‘Jo’ Larkin

CONWAY, S.C. – Josephine “Jo” Larkin, 91, passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, surrounded by her family at Agape Senior. Mrs. Larkin was born in Monticello, a daughter of the late Bernard and Elsie Hoyt Leavitt.

She was a longtime resident of the town of Millinocket. She was a member of the Women’s Fellowship of First Congregational Church of Millinocket, as well as Daughters of the American Revolution. She also served as a member of the Francis E. Elliott Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary and Millinocket Literary Society. Mrs. Larkin was a devoted grandmother and loved spending time with her family. An avid reader, she also enjoyed crossword puzzles, baking and watching her hometown high school basketball team. Mrs. Larkin was loved by her community and will always be remembered as a grandmother to the children of her neighborhood.

She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Francis H. Larkin; one brother, Lawrence Hitchcock; one sister, Ruth Leavitt; and one daughter, Ginger Ann Larkin. Survivors include one son, Robert Larkin and his wife, Patsy, of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; one daughter, Rebecca Wallace and her husband, Dennis, of Longs, S.C.; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Loris Chapel. The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. A spring interment service will be held in Millinocket. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Agape Senior Foundation, 1053 Center St., West Columbia, SC 29169.
