BINGHAM AND OCALA, FLA. – Franklin Edward “Buddy” Rowe, 75, went to Jesus, the lover of his soul, Nov. 11, 2012, after a long fight to stay with his family. Born Nov. 28, 1936, in Milo, son of Dorothy and Harry Rowe, who predeceased him. Buddy and his devoted wife, Carole Rowe, resided in Bingham before retiring to Ocala, Fla., in 2006.
Buddy was a great husband and father teaching, guiding, and inspiring as a constant example of patient suffering, love, compassion and faith in God. He was the nurses’ favorite wherever he was treated. A captivating storyteller, Buddy entertained us with tales of his youth growing up in Piscataquis County, his athletic exploits, his adventures in the Air Force during the Korean War, and his work experiences as a well driller, insurance representative and supervisor at Dexter Shoe. He once got a certificate for catching a trophy Arctic char on a fishing trip with his son in Alaska. He played a mean game of cards and there was no jigsaw puzzle that he could not solve.
Buddy is survived by Carole and their children, Lisa Rowe Fraustino and husband, Jeffrey Meunier, of Ashford, Conn., Angela Lynn Rowe of Waterville, and Roger Rowe and wife, Lisa Marie Rowe, of Gulf Breeze, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Julia Daisy, Daniel and Olivia Fraustino, and Hannah, Jennifer, Adam, Rebekah, Sarah and James Rowe; and two sisters, Betty Towle of Dexter and Carol Thomas of Guilford.
A celebration of Buddy’s life will be held for friends and family in Maine at a later date. Contributions in his memory can be made to Munroe Regional Medical Center Foundation, 1121 SW 1st Ave., Ocala, FL 34474.
