BOCA RATON, Fla. — President Barack Obama sharply challenged Mitt Romney on foreign policy in their final campaign debate Monday night, accusing him of “wrong and reckless leadership that is all over the map.” The Republican coolly responded, “Attacking me is not an agenda” for dealing with a dangerous world.

With just 15 days remaining in an impossibly close race for the White House, Romney took the offensive, too. When Obama said the U.S. and its allies have imposed crippling sanctions on Iran to halt nuclear weapons development, the Republican challenger responded that the U.S. should have done more. He declared repeatedly, “We’re four years closer to a nuclear Iran.”

Though their third and last face-to-face debate was focused on foreign affairs, both men reprised their campaign-long disagreements over the U.S. economy — the top issue by far in opinion polls — as well as energy, education and other domestic issues.

The two men did find accord on more than one occasion when it came to foreign policy.

Each stressed unequivocal support for Israel when asked about a U.S. response if the Jewish state were attacked by Iran.

“If Israel is attacked, we have their back,” said Romney — moments after Obama vowed, “I will stand with Israel if Israel is attacked.”

Both also said they oppose direct U.S. military involvement in the efforts to topple Syrian President Bashir Assad.

The debate produced none of the finger-pointing and little of the interrupting that marked the presidential rivals’ debate last week, when Obama needed a comeback after a listless performance in their first meeting on Oct. 3.

The final debate behind them, both men are embarking on a home-stretch whirlwind of campaigning. The president is slated to speak in six states during a two-day trip that begins Wednesday and includes a night aboard Air force One as it flies from Las Vegas to Tampa. Romney intends to visit two or three states a day.

Already four million ballots have been cast in early voting in more than two dozen states.

Obama appears on course to win states and the District of Columbia that account for 237 of the 270 electoral votes needed for victory. The same is true for Romney in states with 191 electoral votes. The battlegrounds account for the remaining 110 electoral votes: Florida (29), North Carolina (15), Virginia (13), New Hampshire (4), Iowa (6), Colorado (9), Nevada (6), Ohio (18) and Wisconsin (10).

On Monday night, Obama said more than once that Romney had been “all over the map” with his positions. And not necessarily putting new distance between the two men. In fact, Romney offered rare praise for the administration’s war efforts in Afghanistan.

The former Massachusetts governor said the 2010 surge of 33,000 U.S. troops was a success and asserted that efforts to train Afghan security forces are on track to enable the U.S. and its allies to put the Afghans fully in charge of security by the end of 2014. He said that U.S. forces should complete their withdrawal on that schedule; previously he has criticized the setting of a specific withdrawal date.

When it came to Iran, Romney stressed that war is a last option to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear weapon, softening the hawkish tone that had been a hallmark of his campaign.

And Romney barely addressed the simmering dispute over the administration’s handling of the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya, that killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans.

But the debate was hardly all sweetness and light.

On the Middle East, Romney said that despite early hopes, the ouster of despotic regimes in Egypt, Libya and elsewhere over the past year has resulted in a “rising tide of chaos.” He said the president has failed to come up with a coherent policy to grapple with change sweeping the region, and he added ominously that an al-Qaida-like group has taken over northern Mali.

Anticipating one of Obama’s most frequent campaign assertions, Romney said of the man seated nearby, “I congratulate him on taking out Osama bin Laden and taking on the leadership of al-Qaida. But we can’t kill our way out of this mess. … We must have a comprehensive and robust strategy.”

More than a half-hour later, Obama returned to the subject, saying that Romney had once said it wasn’t worth moving heaven and earth to catch one man, a reference to the mastermind behind the 9/11 terror attacks.

“You said we should ask Pakistan for permission,” Obama said. “And if we had asked Pakistan permission, we would not have gotten him. And it was worth moving heaven and earth to get him.”

The president said he had ended the war in Iraq, was on a path to end the U.S. combat role in Afghanistan and has vowed to bring justice to the Benghazi attackers.

He also jabbed at Romney’s having said during the campaign that Russia is the United States’ No. 1 geopolitical foe.

“Governor, when it comes to our foreign policy you seem to want the policies of the 1980s, just like you want to import the social policies of the 1950s and the economic policies in the 1920s,” Obama said.

Obama took a mocking tone after Romney, criticizing the administration’s Pentagon budget, said disapprovingly the U.S. Navy has fewer ships than at any time since the end of World War I.

“I think Governor Romney maybe hasn’t spent enough time looking at how our military works. You mentioned the Navy, for example, that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets because the nature of our military has changed. We have these things called aircraft carriers where planes land on them.”

The televised debate brought no cessation to other campaigning.

Obama’s campaign launched a television ad in Florida that said the president ended the war in Iraq and has a plan to do the same in Afghanistan, accusing Romney of opposing him on both. It was not clear how often the ad would air, given the fall’s overall focus on the economy.

Vice President Joe Biden, campaigning in Canton, Ohio, emphasized differences between the two candidates on the war in Afghanistan.

“We will leave Afghanistan in 2014, period. They say it depends,” he said. “Ladies and gentlemen, like everything with them, it depends. It depends on what day you find these guys.”

Romney’s running mate, Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan, was in Colorado. “We are in the midst of deciding the kind of country we’re going to be, the kind of people we’re going to be, for a generation,” he said.

Whatever the outcome of the final face-to-face confrontation, the debates have left an imprint on the race. Romney was widely judged the winner of the first debate over a listless president on Oct. 3, and he has risen in polls in the days since. Obama was much more energetic in the second.

Monday night marked the third time in less than a week that the president and his challenger shared a stage, following the feisty 90-minute town-hall-style meeting last Tuesday on Long Island and a white-tie charity dinner two nights later where gracious compliments flowed and barbs dipped in humor flew.

      1. His makeup is starting to glisten!  I bet he wishes he was somewhere else. LOL  Maybe he can turn Democrat and run after Obama’s next term.

  1.  Twenty five minutes in Robme says we have a great military and great soldiers, but…….. Interpretation there will  not be any Robme kids in the military………. Robme kids are a  bunch of cowards like their daddy.

    1. Not that I agree with Romney he is a politician after all, but why talk about his kids.  Granted they live a privileged lifestyle that I will likely never attain.  There are many children from well to do families from many walks of life that do enter the military, probably not in any mass number.  But by the same token does that mean that any persons child that doesn’t join the military or comes from a family where there hasn’t been a recent relative who has served a coward.  That is what I take from your interpretation.

      1. No I did not say that. Just the children of the war cheerleaders. AKA chicken hawks. I served in Vietnam, the only republicans I met there were in the rear selling our supplies to the Commies, so I will give you that the republicans are more capitalistic. While I was in Nam, Robme was using his deferments to live the high life in France, but when his draft number was high enough so he had no danger of getting drafted……. What did he do????? He came back and started protesting IN FAVOR of the war. Now that is what a chicken hawk does.
By the way when his cowardly son says he wanted to punch our president, he is fair game to me.

          1.  There are plenty of “girls”(well trained and intelligent women)who are now serving who take exception to that statement.Women can’t yet serve in front line combat positions by law. There are some women who want to change that.Look up Tammy Duckworth-a true heroine and one of many.

        1.  GREAT here we go again… I was wondering about that ….

‘Intercivic, a company that owns the notoriously faulty electronic
voting machines that will count the ballots in swing state Ohio November
          7. Hart machines will also be used elsewhere in the United States.
In other words, a candidate for the presidency of the United States,
and his brother, wife and son, have a straight-line financial interest
in the voting machines that could decide this fall’s election. These
machines cannot be monitored by the public. But they will help decide
          who “owns” the White House.”

      2. And Angus King didn’t serve either !  The connected of society were good at avoiding the draft !

    2. OBAMA didn’t serve either, neither did CLINTON (who blatantly avoided draft!!).

      What are you talking about??!!

      1. This is the first time since the 40’s that neither candidate has served. That said, the military is the “other 1%”Forgotten about and ignored by most people from both sides except for a day or two a year.
Clinton at least got an education.Rmoney tried to convert the French.Trudeau’s cartoons on that are priceless.

        1. Bill Clinton completed his undergrad at Georgetown, then went to Oxford University for his J.D., but switched and completed law school at Yale. In between, he avoided the draft- how noble!

Romney completed his undergrad at Brigham Young University. Then earned a Master of Business AND a J.D. at Harvard University. So, he has more degrees than Clinton. Plus, Mitt pursued a mission and a lengthy private sector career. Bill avoided draft and pursued a lengthy career in womanizing. The truth hurts…. huh?

          1. Romney protested in FAVOR of the war but was too much of a coward to actually put himself in harm’s way.

  2. Wow, Romney is a joke tonight.

“Our debt is our biggest national security threat — so let’s make sure we never ever reduce our Defense spending”

Then he answers a question by saying, go to my website! Ridiculous…

        1. Because they want you to borrow more. Just like China wants the U.S. to keep borrowing, to further weaken ourselves worldwide.

          1. Money is a Medium of Exchange!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

            Nothing More Nothing Less!

If you don’t understand that you are a ” Complete Failure ” of  Economics 101!!!!!

    1. Mitt Romney was clearly more presidential during the debate last night. The president had a clear advantage in a foreign Policy with weekly breifing from his staff, and still he lacked substance in his address. Mitts comments we clear and consice. The interupter in Chief seemed to taking lessons from Joe Biden speaking over Romney every chance he could. This president has lowered the standard of the Office of the Presidency and it is time for him to go!

      Its a serious job!
      We need a serious Candidate!
      Elect Mitt Romney!

      1. What I got was Obama’s policies were good policies.Mitt didn’t have a clue as to what he would do differently, except that he would flip- flop all over the place.I think that whatever his
tax” plan is, it will be quickly forgotten  as soon as the election is over. Those 47 % whom he says he will support will be forgotten very quickly. He’s shown , he will take whatever stance is necessary at the time and will change just as quickly as the wind changes direction!

        1.  Good point.  Romney spent the night saying “me, too” Heck  he seems to have adopted Obama’s polices , all copy cat like, over night .

      2.  He LOOKED more Presidential then say,  when he looked all  goofy on the trail  looking up at the trees and saying  “oh my what wonderful trees  you have. They are SOO tall”  as if he’d never seen a tree in his  entire life before,

LOOKING presidential and actually BEING Presidential are  2 different things!!  One can LOOK presidential with the right medication. One can LOOK presidential with acting lessons and lots of practice .  BEING presidential takes a brain that functions  all of the time, especially under stress.   You don’t get to “practice”  for three months, what to do, in case of a REAL emergency or crisis.

I agree there has been a mircaculous “change” /transformation in Romney—- in his demeanor , his mannerism, his walk ….  and most importantly in his policies and positions . I attribute it to medication.

He has been pushing ONE agenda for nearly 18 months and all of a sudden he has a different position and different policies?  COME ON !  I’ ‘d say he got good ‘prep” that is all . He is a fake candidate … rescreened and reprogramed to win. He has flip flopped on everything.  I haven’t a clue where he stands on ANYTHING I don’t want him NEAR the red buttion , near the economy , or near tax policy !I  don’t TRUST him  on where he stands on ANY issue.

    2. Just think, Joe Biden is one heartbeat away from the Oval Office, if nothing else that is reason enough to vote for Romney/Ryan.

      1. They have to win the election.  This country can NOT take another term of lies. And big spenders.
The game of politics is dirtier than a mud fight.

          1. Well start with his place of birth , his religion, his personal income, his views. His family shows also that he is a good husband and father and his generosity to others shows a kind heart. His success in business certainly shows he is capable of major decisions and is of high intelligence. He is also a Gentleman. He knows how to organize and how to appoint the proper people to their qualified positions. But his honesty shines…………..

          2. “But his honesty shines…..” yet you could show not one example of him stating a factual truth.

I could say the same about Obama (well except for the fact that Romney was born of wealth, took $10 million dollars from his father to start his business, took another $10 million in federal money to save Bain Capital).

          3. BINGO. Your ” Born of Wealth” statement is sheer anger and jealousy. SO WHAT. He could have been born into the poorest family of no financial wealth. He grew to be an honest and decent man. I especially like his faith. He has no problem hiding his faith and that is more admireable than his actual birthplace. And Mitt Romney does not lie.

          4. I brought up his wealth because he is for cutting Pell Grants (he didn’t need financial help to go to college like most people do) and funds for the Small Business Administration and when asked what a person should do to start a business, Romney said they could borrow the money from their parents.  If he had been born to a poor family he would know that his policies will make sure that they stay poor.

I have a hard time calling some one decent who has made money off of buying a profitable business, loading it down with debt (and taking money in fees for doing so), selling off the company in parts (and collecting fees for doing so) and sending the workers to the unemployment lines.  That is neither honorable nor decent in my mind.

And the fact that you keep bringing up his birthplace (Michigan) as important (unless you are implying he was born in the US unlike someone else)or better then someone who was born in Hawaii

          5. Just one statement that is an obvious lie from last night.  Romney said that Obama started of his administration with a tour of apology.  That is an out-right lie from the RW.

If I had the inclination I could find many many examples of Romney either lying, mis-stating the facts or flip-flopping depending on who he is talking to or about.  Romney has no rudder but instead is like a leaf in the wind.  He’ll end up wherever the wind blows him.

Do a little research on his policy statements just for the past 6 months and you’ll be very confused as to where he stands on anything (well, except for business being people and having the right to make profits above all else).

          6. The tour of apology DID happen when Obama made his first trip as president to the mid east. You can fact check that on SNOPES.  There will be no lies found from Romney and you merely reach for straws.  There is NO politician that does not make mistakes.  And when Romney misquoted something a few weeks ago, he was the first to acknowledge his mistake and apologize and clear it up.  Obama has done so too.  You will have to fish for real facts.  Sorry.

        1. “This country can NOT take another term of lies – so vote for the two guy who have been spewing pants-on-fire falsehoods this entire campaign.”

          Huh?

    3. According to former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of StaffGen. Mullen our national debt is our biggest national security threat. How canwe project the image of the world’s most powerful nation if we are beholding toChina for over 1 trillion dollars and another 15 trillion to other nationscombined. The former policies of the liberals was always tax and spend whichnow has turned into tax, borrow and spend. The policy of printing money to tryand minimize the impact of the reckless spending and continued borrowing doesnot work. The joke has been the hope and change everyone was promised and theactual results that were given. We still have 7.8% unemployment just like theday Obama took office and that is not counting the people that have outrightgiven up trying to find work (which would bring that to between 11 and 14percent unemployment). Obamacare, if fully implemented will bankrupt thiscountry and lead to a healthcare system in shambles. We need true leadership tobring this nation back from the brink and Obama is not that person. I truly hoped that Obama would have succeededin his efforts to lead this country, but he has failed and four more years isnot going to change anything for the positive.

      1. Okay, read a post and understand its message before replying to me. I never said the debt wasn’t a problem. But the debt problem isn’t going to be solved with unpaid tax cuts and increased Defense spending. Obama has a real plan, Romney has nonsense.

        1. So what is Obama’s plan? Continue borrowing money from all over the world to continue the liberal agenda of big government and increased spending on entitlement type programs. He claims that we will take the saved money from fighting the wars in the Middle East to rebuild our infrastructure, guess what, there is no savings, it is all borrowed money. Your President has an agenda that he has not truely revealed, but can be found if you look at his Executive Orders and listen to previous comments he has made in regards to what his vision for America is. He is a socialist and he will show his true colors if by chance he is elected for a second term. Remember the statement made to the Russian President that ” I will have more flexability after my election”
I do not think we really want to see what he is willing to be flexible about with Russia when it comes to our national defense.

wilfndeer, I understood your post, but I do not think you understand what truely makes a Commander in Chief, community organizer ( who has missed over 60% of his daily briefings and outright allowed the death of four embassy employees including our Ambassador in Libya) versus a successful CEO, Governer and Chairman of the United States Olympic Commitee. The last thing that can be reduced in this ever evolving world is spending on our national security. We would not have these forced military cuts if your President would have led, as he should have and at some point in the last four years have a budget passed. We have operated on continuing resolutions for his entire term. Now, is that leadership?

          1. Your posts show nothing of fact. To try and insinuate that Dobbs or I are repeating “talking points” is in my opinion your lack of any type of intelligent argument for real issues. You can say over and over that these comments are not based in fact or are irrelevent. It will not change the true story of your President. Please point out specific statements that either of us made that are not factual. Your President apparently feels that these issues are irrelevent as well, and that is why we need a change in the Oval Office, I would have said change in leadership, but we have had no leadership for the last four years. I think you have found yourself in over your head and are simply trying to portray that a discussion with either Dobbs or I is not worth your time.

          2. lol. I don’t need to knock down all the irrelevant and flimsy targets your throw up. They’ve been knocked down time and time again.

I think you show incredible laziness and a lack of substance by simply parroting the talking points we’ve all heard a billion times before. Come up with a real and constructive argument and I’ll talk to you. Until then, I’m not. I’m not going to play little games.

          3. It appears now because you are no longer having fun, you don’t want to play anymore and are going to take your ball and bat and go home. I will leave you with these flimsy targets for you to ponder. Please keep these facts in mind on election day, vote your conscious and if you can live with four more years with this President, so be it.

41 Straight months of unemployment above 8% (actually 11% – 14%) which now produces 23 million people without a job that are in some way dependant upon the government for their survival. We have 47 million plus people on food stamps. Our nation is 16 trillion dollars in debt and growing. Your Presidents idea of job growth is nothing more than a larger government at all levels. How has that worked for the nations in Europe that are falling aprt as we speak. If these issues are irrelevent, flimsy and and in your opinion “little games”, than you are truely your Presidents constituant.

          4. LOL, those aren’t facts, those are talking points. You’re literally regurgitating the same distorted information that we’ve heard before.

          5. I stick to my principles and apply them to situations. I’m not out there regurgitating talking points like many on here are. I know you know that, whether you will say it out loud is another story though.

          6.  I stick to my principles and apply them to situations.   It’s all lies!  It’s YOU  who’s regurgitating when you poke holes in the Obama record, but I can say “It’s all lies!” every time and agreement with me is compulsory.

          7. Those figures are not facts? Ask the 23 million people out of work if it is factual or not. Your personal share of our national debt amounts to almost $47,500.00, that is not a fact? Forty seven million people on food stamps is not a fact? Think again, because you deny it , does not make it go away. Your argument that facts are nothing more than talking points is nothing more than burying your head in the sand.

        2. There is no such thing as  “unpaid tax cuts” unless you believe that all income belongs to the Government instead of who earned it.

Obama and Obamakinz have a very hypocritical basis for defining “unpaid tax cuts,” or “paid-for tax cuts” for that matter.    The terms suggest an attempt is made to balance the budget in order to avoid a debt situation.   The Obama administration HAS no budget, hasn’t had one for four years, and their latest proposed budget was voted down in the House and Senate by a combined 513 to ZERO !!!! with Democrats complaining it wasn’t the REAL budget, without any explanation why a so-called real budget didn’t exist either.  Romney is the only candidate with a plan to balance, or at least pursue balancing, a budget.  Obama has a real plan for a Hawaiian vacation home to move into in three months.

          1.  Wolfy, please show a modicum of respect for your fellow posters!  First you shoot down semloh’s  factual and realistic post with a rather condescending attitude,  then you shoot down my reply as well.    That may work for you in the woods but it won’t work here.   You cannot refute a detailed analysis with vapant one-liners, unless you’re your own legend.

          2. I don’t need to show respect for someone literally regurgitating talking points. There is no use having a discussion with a parrot. It’s that simple. Those talking points have been shot down time and time again and people like you keep repeating them. They’re not fact-based.  It was lie, then distortion, then a lie and then another distortion.

You need to have respect for YOUR fellow posters. Come up with your own original thoughts and then we can talk.

          3.  I’m not sure you really want to.   You seem to be using the same strategy that Obama falls back on when confronted by an irrefutable Romney talking point  – “It’s all lies!” –

Just to be sure, I checked further down the thread.   You volunteered OBL to someone suggesting Obama has no achievement to speak about.   If anything were a talking point, that would be it.    So who’s really repeating talking points here?

I don’t need to show you no stinking respect, but I will treat you that way until you prove you deserve otherwise.

          4. You mean the president who called off the search for bin Laden?

Uh huh. Whatever you say, “Bushfan.”

          5.  Romney said we can’t kill our way out of the middle east problem.  You do realize the whole point of the White House’s obfuscation of the Libya embassy murders, was to avoid Obama embarrassment from him having repeated every day on the campaign,  Osama is dead, Al Qaeda is on the run,  etc….     Obama used the TALKING POINT of Osama dead, every day.     Now you are surprised that I would call that for what it is.

I congratulate the Governor for NOT encumbering the debate with the timeline of the White House’s Libya obfuscation.    Obama’s ship is already torpedoed by that one and there’s no denying it.    This shows President Romney will be adaptable and straightforward on all issues.   What does Obama have to show other than hope to fight for four more years and don’t pay any attention to the debt behind the curtain?

          6. I like your style.  Well said.  Thank you.  You describe the truth and honesty.  That is what this nation deserves.  Mitt Romney is the man to lead the nation.

          7. It is fact that Bin Laden is dead. The intelligence and the process that led to locating him was started long before Obama was elected. The original intelligence came from waterboarding terrorist in captivity at Gitmo. President Obama with much pressure from his own people made the call to move forward with taking him out, which I will give him credit for. I would be willing to bet that anyone who has previously held or will hold the oval office in the future would have made the same call. I don’t think that it is a way to define his tenure in office.

          8. Bush stopped looking for Osama in 2006 and even said that finding Osama and getting justice for what he did was not all that important.

          9. And Yet republican tax policy of trickle down voodoo economic has always raised the debt. And  have resulted in historic deficits for D’s  to have to  come in and fix.

There are two sides to an equation: revenue and expenses. when you cut one side ( revenue) thru tax cuts ; you have a problem with the other side It creates a funding gap—- aka deficit.

        3. Obama is not the answer.  The past 4 years we have seen thousand of foreclosures, banks that will not loan, reckless spending in DC,. a healthcare mess that is not going to be real and thankfully Romney has a keen business mind and a strong religous upbringing that he is proud of and has demonstrated quietly with no fanfare.  He pays his way, and does not take money from the taxpayers.  Obama will destroy this nation if he is re elected.  and Joe Biden as a VP is far from funny.

          1. Obamacare was not created under Bush. That’s his own mess. It is LOADED with taxes (21 of them!) and will raise premiums on people. Funny how we get the promise of wonderful healthcare, but don’t see the taxes and increase in premiums until AFTER the election.

And, Obama should NOT have made promises to fix things if it was gonna take a while to dig out.. He PROMISED his stimulus would reduce unemployment to 5.6% – it did NOT. He promised to cut the deficit in 1/2, but NEVER presented a plan to do so. He made lots of promises he did not keep.

          2. keep drinking the Kool Aid. today’s Republicans are in no way what this country needs, they’re freaking crazy.

          3. A typical response when presented with facts and there is no intelligent argument against the stated facts.

          4. Do your homework, it was not ALL created under Bush. The collapse of the housing market, which in part is what triggered the mess we are in now, was started back under the Clinton administration when it was believed that everyone needed to own a home. Pressure was placed upon lending institutions to lend money to those that in no way could afford to ever pay back what they borrowed. the thought process was that everyone should be able to realize the dream of home ownership, whether they could afford it or not. The banks did themselves and the American Taxpayer no favors by getting caught up in the sub prime mortgage business and all the creative lending programs like no money down, interest only loans and other methods to get that signature on the dotted line. President Bush had a hand in this mess as well with unfunded wars and lax oversight of banks, but Obama has been at the helm for 3 1/2 years and it has only spiraled further out of control. He has not accomplished anything that he said he would to reduce unemployment, currently 7.8% (actually 11%+) versus the 5.4% he pledged. The deficit is 6 trillion larger, not cut in half as he claimed he would do. He as a President and leader of his party has failed to pass a budget since he has taken office, even though his party had outright control for the first two years. I saw that in another post that some study ranks Obama as the 15th best President of all time, I would have to wonder how those rankings were determined as I can hardley believe that there were 29 Presidents worse than Obama. The blame game is a tired stratagy by the left to deflect from the facts that this President has failed and in his own words “should be only a one term President if I fail”. If you think Obama is the answer, how stupid was the question?

          5. Look, healthcare delivery in America is insane. The very idea of Obamacare has it beginning at the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation and the insurance industry.

It’s exactly what conservatives asked for.

          6. The Heritage Center plan was from 1989, it was wrong then and is wrong now. President Obama indicated when he was a candidate that he did not want a mandate for the purchase of health insurance, but as we know that is what was in the Affordable Care Act. The legislation was rammed through Congress without one vote from the Republicans and in the words of Nancy Pelosi, “we will have to see what is in the bill after it is passed”. How can a Congressman or Senator make an informed and intelligent vote on a piece of legislation without knowing the content. It also strikes me as funny that you fail to comment on the other issues concerning your Presidents failures in my previous post. There is no argument for those facts.

        4. That is the dumbest thing I ever heard. I know leftists like to use it .. but you don’t “pay for” tax cuts. You just don’t spend if you don’t have it.

Obama has no plan. I saw a “brochure” his campaign put out for the first time today but all it said was that he had one. He obviously hasn’t put anything out there.

          1. Yes, you pay for tax cuts. The budget goes forward on its own and there isn’t a 0 sum involved.

Obama has a plan. Quit being a partisan hack — you know better.

          2.  What is his plan because in the first four years, he hasn’t even signed a budget!!  And there was nothing but democrats for the first two years so don’t blame it on the republicans.  Barrack “no budget” Obama, who would trust him??

          3. Exactly. If you lose your income (job), then you don’t “pay” your mortgage payments, etc. You can’t pay your bills if you don’t have anything to pay them with. Therein lies the confusion.

        1. I have never stated that the liberals were the cause of all
of our debt. Obama has created 6 trillion dollars of debt in 3 1/2 years. The
liberals just seem to be so much better at it. There is no way to control
spending if for 4 years you have no budget to operate by. Obama has shown zero acumen as a leader. He has missed over 60% of his daily security briefings, but has
found time to golf over 104 times as of August 2012 and repeated visits to the
View, to stroke the egos of those liberal hags.

      2. Obama is easily the worst president this country has ever had. Even Jimmy Carter did a better job. There is absolutely NOTHING that Obama has done. His own campaign had to borrow 15 million dollars to keep afloat. Everthing this guy touches creates debt! Saved GMC ?  Nohe took our tax dollars and bought the union

    4.  Did he really say that ? I must have zoned out for a bit.  More proof he doesn’t get how budgets or  the economy works.

    5. We have many democrats to thank for our debt.  Reckless spenders;  Michelle Obama and her vacations, Nancy Pelosi and her booze flights on tax payers money, Solyandra so Barry could be for Green,   the list goes on.  Wake up People.  This election campaign takes hard earned money from Americans who want their candidate to win.  Time to change some campaign rules.  No out of state monies for state held elections could be a start.  No foreign money for anyone campaigning in America,  and only 2 debates should be needed.  If you don’t know by now who you will vote for, then you surely have your head in the mud.

    6. Obama went into the final debate knowing he had to prevent Romney from coming across as a knowledgeable, peace-seeking, leader who has the interests of America uppermost in his mind and whom voters can see as a Commander-in-Chief.

Obama did not prevent that. It’s all over but the voting.

    7. Obama is easily the worst president this country has ever had. Even Jimmy Carter did a better job. There is absolutely NOTHING that Obama has done. His own campaign had to borrow 15 million dollars to keep afloat. Everything this guy touches creates debt! Saved GMC ?  No he took our tax dollars and bought the union. He is awful.. If he is reelected don’t start crying when you have no jobs, no money for heating oil, and no money to pay for Obama Care!!

      1. Actually, Obama is considered the 15th BEST president this country has ever had, when ranked by political historians.

  3. Thirty minutes in. Again Robme says he can create 12 million jobs….. Interpretation, get your passports ready kids the low wage jobs are going to be available soon……….in China.

  4. Oh oh, Obama is talking math and science, you can actually see Robme’s eyes glazing over. Republicans are anti-science, anti- intellectual.

    1. Yet again the same generalization I’ve seen before.  Just because someone is a republican doesn’t mean they are anti-science.  Sure there are a bunch of dip sticks out there that don’t believe in the quarks and gluons, but the majority of republicans aren’t like the ones that get all the press for being dubbers.

        1. Ok go out take a poll of republicans and see where they stand on that information.  I’m willing to bet that most of them are more level headed than the ones that get all the press for believing in something that the rest of us don’t.  I’m an independent by the way, vote ont he issue and who would appear to help the best.  Have never voted on a party line, but I know plenty of people that align themselves to either side and some of them on both sides are a bit numb.

      1.  Good points. One of my R friends has multiple degrees and makes great money. Her kids are on track for super grades as well.Yet she cringes every time one of the idiots like Paul Broun spouts the creationist nonsense. She doesn’t call them cretinists for nothing.

          1.  I am NOT and would never be an R.Please read my statement again. As an educated American,I’m as appalled by Palin,Bachmann,Akin and dozens of other anti science clowns as anyone should be.

      2. Global warming, the Big Bang, Evolution,  human reproductive biology – all things that right-wing GOP theocrats deny.

        Yessah

    2. Yes, Republicans sneer at science — and then wonder why American students are 17th among the industrialized nations in their science knowledge.

Republicans sneering at science is going to shoot us back to the Dark Ages.

Republicans sneering at science will break this nation’s chances of ever being great again.

Republicans sneering at science will allow countries like India and China to race ahead of us like the wind — in space exploration, in inventing new technology, in medicine, in every way imaginable.

  5. Get ready seniors, get ready veterans, get ready people with health problems if Robme wins……well you lose. But on the bright side there will be tax breaks for the Koch brothers. Happy days are here…………….?

  6. Quote of the night 1: “You should have answered the first question!…”

BTW, the US Military expenditures are the combined total of ten country’s.

  7. Obama says “It was worth moving heaven and earth to get Bin Laden” great quote. The look on Robme’s face is one well……Opps my words coming back against me. Because Robme said “we should ASK Pakistan” if we please sir might have a shot at OBL”. Sheeeeeesh what a dolt.

  8. Robme says “technically Pakistan is an ally”. Interpretation Hey Bain has money invested in that country haven’t you checked your flannel shirt lately……… it was made in PAKISTAN.

  9. Ok on to China where Robme should be at his strongest……. after all that is where he plans to create those 12 million jobs.

        1.  No one said we don’t. Care to make the case that we use as many as we did in 1916?
          .
Exact quote: “Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military’s changed.”

          1. It’s that word fewer that is tripping up those on the right today. I didn’t think that many people were functionally illiterate.

    1. He said his would insist China put its currency at its real value which would bring back american jobs. It is a good plan.. Canada has done that for years lower the value of their money to sell products here at a discount..  example, lumber, if a 2X4 made in Maine is $2.50 Canada can sell that 2×4 in maine for lets say a 25% difference wholesale which would be $1.75 Canadian money if the value of the Canadian dollar is 25% different..  Canada  did it for years lowering the value of their dollar. China is doing it now for the same reason Canada did it. To under sell american products.  It is all in the Dollar value.

  10. ” Romney and Bain Capital invested in Global-Tech Appliances and Sensata
Technologies, among other companies, while Global-Tech and Sensata
outsource jobs to China and force student interns and mostly female
workers to work 12 or more hours a day, seven days a week at 99 cents to
$1.35 per hour.  The Institute released a report on Global-Tech in September 2012 and a report on Sensata Technologies in October 2012, documenting illegal working conditions at the companies’ plants in China.”
    http://www.globallabourrights.org/campaigns?id=0046

      1. Nope, haven’t shopped Walmart in over 10 years because of their treatment of their employees and the general crappiness of their products.

        1. Crappy product? I beg to differ. I bought a Bushmaster AR 15 there last week. Awesome gun and a great price. It was $947 and I have never paid less then $1200 for one before.

          1. Should have paid the 1200 at a local dealers to keep the money here Bushy.. or asked them for a discount or a hat and gloves with their company name on it..
Does wal-mart give out promo hats and shirts that you would be proud to wear?

          2. I have bought my share off the local guy but the local guy was closed. I am an impulse buyer when it comes to solid hardware and a bushmaster is solid hardware. I don’t mind Walmart, they create a lot of jobs in our community.

          3. Ah yes, it is our responsibility to subsidize the little store.  Bushfan has no responsibility to spend his money as efficiently as possible.

          4. Answer the first question Yes then the next 20 or so No. No big deal. The AR is a great quality gun and it looks like a machine gun and is when it’s fully auto but the ones you get from the gun store, just a fancy .223. You can get them tricked out a little after that though.

      2. Sam Walton is a major Obama supporter. Thanks the Dodd-Frank, Walmart has grown exponentially more powerful.

        1. Sam Walton died April 5th, 1992 and left Walmart and Sam’s Club to his family.

The curent owners of Walmart and Sam’s Club are avid Republican’s and have no desire to see Obama re-elected.  They are also the one’s responsible for teh mistreatment of their workers and the over-reliance on Chinese products, Sam Walton actually sold American made products whenever they were available.

  11. Romney just threw Bush under the bus., despicable. He just lost my vote. Now who am I going to vote for? Charlie Longo I guess.

      1. I thought so! I have seen them chum it up before and Barb loves Mitt. Bush gave Mitt a huge endorsement. That is why I was so surprised to see him trash Bush at the end.

I don’t know, I think Obama won this debate, by a lot. Sorry just being honest. It doesn’t change my vote but I expected a lot more from Romney. It’s going to be a close race.

          1. I don’t need to listen to anyone to tell me who won that debate, Obama did in my opinion. I have two eyes and two ears. I wish I was wrong my fellow republican but Romney came out flat and stayed flat. If you think he won, great, but I expected much better performance with 15 days to go and a slight lead in the polls. This was his chance to mop the floor with Obama and it didn’t happen that way.

  12. Obama just said “Governor Romney you are trying to air brush history here”. Interesting phrase coming from Barack, airbrush history. HA HA.

  13. In closing Robme says “I want to see peace” or was it “piece”, as in piece of the pie. Hmmmmmm they should have captions so we can see which word he meant. He is after all a vulture capitalist.

      1. And yet that’s not what JohnR was talking about. Without vulture capitalists, we wouldn’t have had an economic collapse.

        1. Without congress forcing banks to loan money to people who they KNEW could not pay it back, we would not have had economic collapse.

Do some research, don’t take what you see on TV as reality.

In order to think for yourself, you must question authority.

          1. Congress never forced banks to loan money to people who could not afford it.  Greedy CEO’s of mortgage companies sold mortgages to people regardless of whether they could pay for it and then sold off the mortgages to Wall Street to make money off of bad loans.

When I was looking for a house in 2007, my local bank would only loan me $90,000 based on my salary and down payment but a mortgage company was willing to loan me $150,000 with no down payment, oh and my credit rating was over 750 at that time.

Tell me again how the banks were forced to make loans.

      2. Capitalists sending American jobs to China (our communist friends), are the true reason forn unemployment in this country!  Don’t try to make them out as the saviors of the free world.

        1. It is all in the value of the dollar, learn about how countries hold their value down and why and you will see why factories went astray.

      1.  Peaceful?  YUP about the man who just weeks ago was chomping at the bit  to rush into IRAN with guns a blazzing!!!! Reckless is more like it. The great pretender.

    1. That may be your opinion but the polls will tell a much different story. Romney looked just like the amateur he really is on foreign policy. I see that he hasn’t given up on trying to lie his way into office. What a phony.

      1.  I actually did go to the fridge for a beer while Obama was talking.  Didn’t want to miss anything important.   But I did overhear something Obama said, something about Romney being “all over the map” about Iran, Iraq, Israel, Syria, Egypt, Turkey, Lybia.   I looked at a map, they’re all next to each other.    Thank you Obama for complimenting Romney’s  comprehensive Middle East plan.

  14. One thing so obvious tonight, Neo Con Mitt agreed with the President and flipped and flopped like a flounder on the deck

      1. Obama’s “problem” in the first debate was he was being polite and Presidential .  He didn’t want to interrupt Romney .It shows a good up bringing.

It was evident last night too. He counted on the moderator to do his job and  “stop” Romney( and his endless  interrupting  and attempts at hogging  the time )

        1. Cool, you think two names sounding alike is “good humor.” I appreciated the “horses and bayonets” line a bit more. Clever and memorable way to punctuate a true statement.

          1. It clearly was humorous when back in the day, ol’ Teddy Kennedy called him “Osama bin Laden, uhh-uh, Osama Obama”…

          2. Might not be “Clever and memorable ” to the Special Forces that used horses in the invasion of Afghanistan.

  15. Good job by the moderator this debate…..the President appeared to be very stressed and burdened to the point of looking quite angry and regularly attacking Gov. Romney rather than speaking to his own achievements for the last 4 years…..the current state of our economy is paramount and is this President’s greatest failure…..our national debt, as recently described by military & financial experts, is our greatest threat to national security and we as a nation are on the edge due in large part to this current administration’s economic failures which include an all time record high national debt of over $16 Trillion!! We cannot afford another 4 years of this President and his failed promises and policies…..time for true hope & change and absolute time for a new Presidency…..

        1. Did you watch the debate? Romney explicitly said he wants massively increased Defense spending. He talked about not having enough battleships. He is advocating for more spending.

          1. He said he doesn’t want to allow upcoming cuts to take place. That’s not an increase of funding, that’s a maintainance of funding.

          2. No. That’s what Obama’s position is. Maintaining the current spending levels. Romney wants to increase Defense spending.

          3. We should not let our defense guard down as Obama is trying to do.  Romney is the man who will not allow that.

          4.  Do you remember that whole debt crisis thing the R’s  fabricated LAST August? The one that down graded our bond rating ?  And the one that ONLY ended when BOTH sides agreed to massive cuts??

    1. Kinda tough to speak to your own achievments for the last four years when you don’t have any.

      Romney Ryan 2012

        1. Get real. Elmer Fudd would have made the same decision, except that Elmer would not have denied the go order on three previous requests.

          1.  Before it happened Mitt Romney said he would NEVER violate any countries sovereignty to get bin Laden as Obama did. After it happened Romney tried to pretend he never said that.
            .
You have just declared Romney less qualified than Elmer Fudd  to be commander in chief.

          2.  And yet Elmer FUDD didn’t,  when he had that  chance.  Instaed he sang “Oh where or where has osama gone.  oh where, oh where could he be?”

        2. and Obama had to be convinced to get him.

ANYBODY in that instance wold have gotten Bin Laden.  You act like it was Obama’s intel that magically got us to Bin Laden.

          1.  ANYBODY – except Romney based on his own words before it happened.
            .
Since it happened – Romnesia …

          2. Perhaps the same intell that just got 4 killed in Lybia !  Why isn’t Obama taking full credit for that?

          3. Think about it!

“ALL” of the Terrorist on 911 where from  {Saudi Arabia } !

George Bush Quickly Flew the Saudi Familiies out of America.

Osama Bin Ladens Demands where that America Pulls its Bases “OUT” of Saudi Arabi!

            The US Did!

Saudi Arabia’s Biggest Threat at the time was from IRAG!

The US Declared WAR on Irag!

Osama Bin Laden Mysteriously Dissapears and Bush doesn”t CARE!

In a nutshell what happened was that the Saudi’s Terrorised the US and in return we went to war for them against their enemy!

George Bush, Condelessa Rice, and Dick Cheney Belong Behind Bars!

        3. Right??????
We can thank Hillary Clinton and the Navy for taking out Osama Bin Laden. The President canceled the operation several times, but only after heavy pressure from Hillary and Leon Panetta he he finally agree to more forward with the mission. Not sure if it was because he feared repercussions from Pakistan or it interupted his golf game?
          RESTORE AMERICA DEFEAT OBAMA

          1. Hillary and Leon told Obama to move on bin Laden, and Joe Biden and others told him not to.  The President had to decide.  He made the right decision.  He gets the credit for that.  Four years ago Bush said he wasn’t even looking for bin Laden anymore.

          2. Looks like the Timing on his Mission ” Swing ” was Correct!

Good pick on the “Caddys “as well!

            The Golf Lessons Paid Off!

            LoL

          3.  exactly! Obie hid behind Hillary so he could have someone to blame if something went wrong.Still would like to see actual proof OBL is dead. After the lies and deceit from Benghazi kind of makes me wonder about dumping the body at sea. Also would like to see more investigation into those seals that were set up after the raid.

      1. Obama’s full court press against Al Queda in Yemen, North Africa, Pakistan and Afghanistan destroyed AQ’s leadership and disrupted their operations world-wide.

Oh yeah – Somali pirates were dealt with decisively.

Obama inherited George W. Bush’s debt, 2 unpaid wars and his stupid tax cuts for the rich – which did not produce jobs – and ballooned the debt.

Obama saved the US auto industry and saved the world from a Great GOP Depression.

Oh yeah – Obama’s YOY budget deficits have declined each – so sorry to inform you.

        Yessah

        1.  Don’t forget the Big Insurance/Big Pharma/Old people giveaway called Medicare Part D.A budget buster forever. Thanks George!

        2. Insanity and delusion is alive and well!
Al Queda is very much intact and has moved back into Iraq, is thriving in Yemen, certainly Pakistan and wherever else they choose.
Obozo had nothing to do with the Somali pirates.
Still on the blame Bush bandwagon…..which the wheels came off of some time ago. Lame, real lame.
Obungle damn near ruined the US auto industry. Every respected economist has stated that GM and Chrysler should have each filed for chapter 11 and rebuilt themselves. They would be in much better shape today if they had.
And your remark about budget deficits defy logic. Perhaps you have missed the facts that our budget deficits have increased every year Odingle has been in office.
          Sorry….yes you should be.

    2. Stop Blameing the Debt on the Obama!

      We ALL know that ,

The Crazy BUSH pilot Crashed the Economic Plane !

      No Economy , No Revenue

      No Revenue, = More Debt!

Expound the situation futher with the Mad Hater Tea Partiers further attack on revenue collection and you have the 16 Trillion in Debt and Massive unemployement!

And you think that “ANOTHER” round of Tax Breaks will Fix the Debt!

Insanity;   Doing the Same Thing Over and Expecting Different Results!

    3. Our debt is a gift from George Dubya Bush.  No President could have reduced it in four years.  Just paying the interest on Bush’s trillion-dollar debt beefed up the debt by leaps and bounds.

Romney would take us right back to the failed days and ways of George Dubya Bush.

      OBAMA/BIDEN 2012!

      1. Your first sentence is so old it is not laughable.  How about you seeing some facts about the current administration and the reckless spending.  Romney is a decent and honest man.  He can stand proud.  That is more than what we have now.   Every new administration DOES inherit STUFF from the previous administration.  However, the extreme Left has felt the need for extreme rudeness with the relentless attacks on former Pres. GW Bush.  No secret the economy was sliding, but NOT all his fault.  And 9/11 may Never have happened if Bill Clinton as President had not been so selfish as to needing to finish his golf game the day OBL was in satellite vision and could have been dealt with then.  We need some HONEST people in DC.  and Obama is far from that description.

        1. Deficit from Bushes last budget year $1.4 trillion.  Last deficit year with Obama $1.08 trillion.

See how Obama has reduced the deficit each year in office while Bush increased teh deficit each year in office?

    4. It was abundantly clear that Obama believes he is losing and Romney believes he is winning. I expect their internal polls tell them a much different picture than the mainstream media polls.

I think it was also clear to the viewer that Romney was acting more like the president and Obama the challenger based on their demeanor. This must have been the plan for Romney and it worked.

      1. ” ACTING ” like a president and  actually BEING a President are  2 different  things .

Reagan was a good ( and trained) actor too . Palin was a good actor ,  until she  was “caught” looking  at her” lines” on her hand. Cain was a good actor ,  until he muffed his lines. Perry was a good actor,  until someone gave him the wrong medication.

Anyone can be “groomed” and learn lines , given enough time and practice . And there are always ear pieces, as a back up  .Kind of  gives new meaning to the phrase “acting Presidential” doesn’t it ?

I want substance not imagery. Romney certainly has been “transformed” in the last couple of month.  Don’t you wonder  how? And the most important ” transformation” has been in his policies and positions. He spent most of last night saying  “me, too ” to Obama.  ODD huh?

So why vote for “the pretender” when you can get the real thing instead?

  16. Maddow, Sharpten, Schultz, and Matthews are all bursting blood vessels. That’s a sure sign that their man lost that debate.

    Romney – 2.5 / Obama 0.5

    Mr. President – Start packing.

    1. Enough with your distortions.

“BREAKING: CBS NEWS INSTANT POLL Who won the #Debate? OBAMA: 53%; ROMNEY: 23%, TIE: 24% (Margin of Error: 4%; Sample Size: 521)”

      1. CBS…???? That is hilarious! CBS could not put together a s**t sandwich even with the instruction manual!

      2. Fox News— Data!

Obama 53% – 4% (Margin of Error) adjust to 49%

        Romney 23% + Tie 24% + 4% (Margin of Error) adjust to 51%

        Hey!

Where did the 2 % Go?

        1. FoxNews “you decide” vote question:
          Who won the debate?

          Romney 85.37%
          Barry 14.63%

          Pretty much says it all.

          1.  voluntary poll on a known as biased web site . Srt of like MSNBC polls are always 98% to 2% .

            CNN REAL poll — obama 48 ; romney  40

      1. MSNBC. I flip over there after every debate to watch the libs squirm, twist, and distort. The show is priceless.

        1. They’re squirming so hard that the polls are magically all coming to the same conclusion: Obama won the night. Those guys on MSNBC are darn good!

        2. I would rather pour pineapple juice in my eyes than watch debate prep or analysis. You must have plenty of free time.
Let us not forget who has the most MSNBC airtime(15 hours/week)-Joe Scarborough and Michael Steele-failed R backbencher and failed R head of party.

      1.  Both Obama and Romney have law degrees from Harvard. Only Obama gets criticized and ridiculed for this achievement.

  17. Head lines tomorrow should read …. Romney holds true to form and changes shape right before our eyes.

    1.  How many times did Romney say “me, too. Mr President” ?

Why elect the copy cat when you can get the real thing?

  18. Mitt said he would insist that China re value their currency to it’s true value.  That in it’self would create 10’s of millons of jobs in this country..

    1. “Insisting” would create 10’s of millions of jobs? We do need better schools.  :)

Um, lets say China says… no?

      1. he replied to that by saying if they didn’t he would put tarriffs on some of their products.  Twisting the intent of the comment doesn’t change the truth

  19. Mitt Romneys five point plan 1. To the left 2. Take it back now y’all 3. Right foot let’s stomp 4. Left foot let’s stomp 5. Cha Cha now yall

    1. Anything is better than Barrack Hussein Obama who is clueless, leaderless and lost.  He is not the chosen one, he is not about change, he is a Jeremiah Wright follower and believer and that is not presidential, it’s ignorant.

      1. Irony alert:
        .
“its {sic) ignorant”, combined with copious comma misuse and lack of understanding of how and when a new sentence begins.

        1.  Add the incorrect spelling of our President’s first name. There needs to be a spelling test at the voting booth. That would take care of a lot of people who have no business voting.

        2.  Is that the best you can do, criticize?  Does that mean you agree with what I said?  Why yes, I think that it does.  And by the way, you are the definition of what is wrong with America today.  So get your dictionary out and do your criticizing, but that’s all you have because your leader is ignorant, much like you.

  20. Two trillion more.  Plus five trillion by cutting taxes, including more cuts on top of the George W. Bush tax cuts for the super-rich.

  21. If anyone is listening to the talking heads after the debate, telling you what you just watched, then it’s time to think about doing drugs

      1. What are you inhaling/  Mitt held his own.  You surely had to hear the debate explanations on MSNBC or CNN.  they are a wee bit biased…………..

  22. What I want to know is what record does Romney have? He has a record of disengaged governing in Massachusetts. The only real achievement he had there, he has disavowed to appeal to the radical right wing. His positions on issues change more often than the direction of the wind.

    1.  Notice that MA is going for Obama. When’s the last time you saw a Rmoney ad with people in MA saying what a great job he did?

      1.  Romney has houses in about a half dozen states, most of which are polling wrll into Obama’s column. The better you know Mitt the less you trust him.

      2. Romney only wanted to be governor of MA because he thought it would look good on his political resume. He was as disengaged as they come when he actually became governor, already looking at launching his bid to become POTUS.

        1. And with 89%  D control he didn’t actually have to work or DO anything.  Obama got in a few zingers on his  “claimed” record there.  “Mr Romney, but  that was 10 years BEFORE you were governor there.” LIAR, LIAR,  PANTS ON FIRE .

    1. Washington post has no value.. Libraries won’t even carry it.. unless someone request it to potty train a dog.

      1.  Thank you for confirming that you too are embarrassed by Romney’s utter ignorance of where the major countries in the middle east are in relation to each other.
        .
Your weak “change the subject” ploy is obvious.

    2.  …….What
sea would you use to get arms to Palestine and Lebanon?(as they were
discussing) Mediterranean. How does Iran access that? Thru Syria.
Caspian? Nope. Arabian? Means going around Africa and entering
      international waters.

  23. I would vote for anybody over Obama at this point…..a body of water for example…..a dead body perhaps….

Either would be an improvement over Obama.

    1. Excellent!
I stated some time back that I would vote for Bugs Bunny, who would do a better job, but after some though, you could be right.

      1.  Alfred E Newman would be better.  I’d vote for my cat first.  Actually, a dartboard and darts would have a better chance at picking policies than Obama has done.

      1. Marines train with bayonets to instill aggression not to use in combat.

You hardly even see a bayonet being carried by actual marines once they graduate from boot.  You will see hand guns and knives for close combat, the bayonet used with an M-14 is a hindrance because it lessens the accuracy of the firearm and it is too short to be of much use in combat.

    1.  No one said we don’t. Care to make the case that we use as many as we did in 1916?
      .
Exact quote: “Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military’s changed.”

  24. Romney new what he was doing watch the polls folks. Americans are tired of it. President Obama couldn’t even answer when Romney challenged him on his apologizing tour. President Obama was on an attack for Romney tonight because he was looking to get Romney into a heated debate. Romney took it like a champ.

    1. Indeed…All Mitt had to do was show up and look Presidential..He did…Obuma needed the knockout , he didn’t get it…Mitt only needs to run out the clock…The election is his…All the polls  national , swing states and some states Romney shouldn’t even have a shot at like Penn. are trending to Romney…President Romney…Nice ring to it…

    2. Uh, Obama told voters to check the record. And if you do, you will see that Obama never made any apologies.

    3. Obama did call out Rmoney on his “apology tour” lie.

Rmoney looked like a guilty schoolboy – lol!

      Obama 2012.

      Yessah

  25. ……..and Romney said he will create 12 million jobs………he is beginning to sound like a used car salesman.
He made mention of coal and nuclear energy……….Does America agree with this?correct me if I’m wrong but I heard zero from him on green initiative or eco friendly  etc….. ( flipping channels between debate and baseball game)

He was a  parrot to  Obama on foreign policy.

  26. Does anyone really believe that this or the two previous debates have changed anyone’s mind on who they plan to vote for?
Most assuredly not, especially after reading the comments posted here after each one.
So all of this yakking is nothing more that verbal masturbation…..much jerking back and forth with the same result.
Folks will either vote for Romney or Obungle, and live with the results for the next four years.

  27. Bwahahahaha…The MittTwit got OWNED again.  He spouted rehearsed talking points, got slammed on his ENDLESS FLIPFLOPS, sounded like he was giving a book report, and got HAMMERED on with “We also have fewer horses and bayonets.” when he went on about how we have fewer Navy vessels than in 1916.  Also interesting on often MittTwit AGREED with Obama.  So TeaPublicans, how do you like have your “Severe Conservative” try to morph back into “Moderate Mitt From Massachusetts” and AGREE many times with Obama? Hmmmm?? How about it? Also notice how SWEATY MittTwit was? A sure sign of both LYING and GETTING HAMMERED.
All polls are showing a CLEAR Obama win.  So, debate score:   Team Obama – 3      MittTwit/RyAynRand – 1.

    1.  Look up a story the MSM has ignored.Paul Desjarlais- another fine R conservative abortion flip flopper.

  28. Charles Krauthammer :  it’s unequivocal : Mitt Romney won.

Romney went large. Obama went very, very small – shockingly small.

    1. How does one win a debate when he keeps agreeing with his opponent’s points? That sounds more like a surrender.

      1. I think that was Romney’s strategy. Just adopt Obama’s foreign policy strategy, but act a little more GI Joe about it.

      2. How does one debate with someone who acts like he is speaking to his juvenile daughter in regards to the military, in specific the President’s offensive remarks re: the Navy and playing battleship?? Gov. Romney spoke to the issues and challenged and spoke to the President’s record more-so than the President himself…the President’s responses were more attacking than substance, he went after the Gov. rather than issues and he repeated the exact same promises for jobs and the economy that he spoke of while Candidate Obama and which his administration has failed to provide over the last 4 years…..Gov. Romney was more Presidential last evening than the President himself has been for almost 4 years…..

  29. Bob Schieffer did a nice job moderating, finally. He should moderate all the debates. Obama/Biden 2012!

  30. The average American will be the biggest loser in this election. We are basically being forced to choose between the lessor of the two evils, again. They are not even trying to be covert about it this time around. Both parties are guilty of fiddling while Rome burns. Who will be the next Caesar?

  31. 67M watched the first debate-haven’t seen numbers on the other ones. That’s a lot of minds being exposed to both viewpoints.Sure,a lot of people are cheering their guy or hoping the other makes a mistake, but I think  a lot of people genuinely wanted to see what was up.I love debates in any form-wish PBS Intelligence Squared Debates would be back on TV.

  32. Nobody takes Krauty seriously. He’s the worst of a bunch of Bibi tools wasting the taxpayer’s $millions on his pet project.Just like Eric (Go Commando)Cantor.

  33. Rmoney is not ready for prime time – what can you expect from someone who protested FOR the Vietnam war but spend his draft years in France on religious deferments (emphasis on the plural).

Rmoney is just another in a long line of GOP Chickenhawks and draft dodgers (like Cheney and Rush Limbaugh) that would squander out blood and treasure on needless war.

…and refuse to raise taxes to pay for them.

A real Commander-in-Chief  took him to school on naval technology – “horses and bayonets” – too funny!

    Obama 2012.

    Yessah

  34.  Christie added that Obama is “blindly walking around the White House looking for a clue.”

“He’s like a man wandering around a dark room, hands up against the
wall, clutching for the light switch of leadership and he just can’t
    find it.”

  35. “The two men did find accord on more than one occasion when it came to foreign policy.” That’s because Romeny parroted President Obama’s words………….How anyone can look at that man, ( Romeny) and not see the EVIL, I don’t understand. He raises the hackles on my neck!
(With just 15 days remaining in an impossibly close race for the White House, “)  How can you say it was CLOSE……………………………………….. BDN? The Huffington Post shows electoral votes for Obama 253 & ONLY 191 for romeny

  36. Great night both the Giants and Romney win 9-0. Hope all you liberals watched so you can get a look at your new President. The days of the Obama phones, failed policies and world apology tours are over. Get ready to see what a real economic recovery looks like.

    Romney/Ryan 2012

    1.  Romney’s experience is in sucking the value out of companies and leaving employees to be bailed out by the government at 1/3 their pensions. He bankrupted 22% of the companies he bought out, but still made millions upfront.

Ryan is a baldfaced liar who has only seen two of his bills passed during his entire career in Congress.

    2. The problem is no one knows which Mitt their looking at, Neo-Con Mitt or Moderate Mitt. One thing for sure he has no center or soul an empty suit which is something the Right can undoubtedly get their arms around.

  37. I think the results of last nights debate were quite clear that Romney prevailed once again. On the bright side for Obama, he’ll get to move into that new 40 million dollar house in Hawaii that much sooner.

  38. Debates are largely a waste because the majority of voters will vote with their wallet – based on their quality of life – or how angry they are. Are you really better off then you were four years ago? Does 16 trillion in national debt – with the household share of $47k make you warm and fuzzy when we haven’t had a budget passed in four years. Before you blame Congress – the Democrats had a huge majority for two years under Obama. What did they do to help YOU? Maybe you have a job – but what about the 23 million who are unemployed or the dozens you know who can only get a part time job and are underemployed. Anyone who calls that “success” is either medicated or delusional. President Obama says we are “not there yet”. Where? A full blown welfare state? I have been stationed in Europe – there are more people on welfare then there are working – lets have a candid talk about all the socialist “success” stories. Obama deceived millions of people who naively thought he would make their quality of life better. He only served himself, ran the country into debt, and lived like a posh king with no accountability to we, the people.

    1.  After the first debate Obama lost his 16 point lead among women, so people are not voting their wallet. They never have or they would never have elected a single republican. Look around, every state that has elected a republican governor see’s unions and pensions under attack. Every one of them have tried and will keep trying to disenfranchise voters who disagree with them.

The example you gave ignores macroeconomic principles. The debt is a issue, but not the way it is portrayed. The money is owed to ourselves. The increase in unemployment and welfare is all due to the recession that Obama inherited. If he was receiving even an ounce of support from the worst Congress in history we would be recovering faster.

The republicans wrecked the economy, Congress is doing nothing, yet Obama has achieved significant recovery virtually on his own.

I suggest you you learn a little about macroeconomics instead of repeating Fox’s talking points.

  39. No Mr. President, Chinese tires are not the biggest threat to our national security. Mr. Romney is correct, a nuclear armed Iran is the biggest threat.

Also, you actually did try to negotiate a status of forces agreement to keep troops in Iraq, but your negotiator, Joe Biden, failed. I am sure it is difficult to keep track of your failures these days, but perhaps someone should remind you of these things.

    1.  Even IF Iran were to obtain nuclear capability, they would not be a threat to US national security and it is ONLY US national security that we need to concern ourselves with.

Any threat of a nuclear armed Iran is to Israel who has over 300 nuclear warheads, including suitcase bombs that they refuse to acknowledge. They also have a scorched earth policy that if they are attacked they will nuke European cities and attempt to destroy the world.  Israel has shown it’s appreciation to the US for the billions of military aid by developing their own nuclear capabilities in secret and now trying to hold the world hostage because they refuse to settle their issues with the Palestinian’s.

An attack on Iran’s facilities will kill tens of thousands outright and spread radioactive dust throughout the atmosphere and around the world. In case you didn’t notice, we are not winning in Iraq. Iran will be ten times worse and who is going to volunteer to go fight in a radioactive country? Who’s going to pay for it? How does it benefit the US?

Iran has expressed a willingness to talk not just to the US but other world powers. We American’s do not have the right to continue to kill millions for trumped up, phony reasons.

Iraq wants us out because we have refused to recognize their laws. This is the trouble with supporting democracy in countries like Iraq, it is not going to look the way we want. These wars have cost the US $3.2 trillion and still counting.

  40. By the fact that this presidential race is so close , it’s clear that no matter who’s elected America will not have a good leader for at least four years.  Neither of these candidates deserves my vote.  We need a real candidate so badly but the two major political parties seem to disagree with me !

  41. For almost 4 years this President has continuously blamed the previous administration for problems while failing miserably to provide the change needed & promised……our economy is on the brink of destroying everything America has achieved and stood for….Obama has been leading from behind and that is why we now owe over $16 TRILLION with almost $5.5 TRILLION of our Nat’l debt being owed to foreign entities…..last evening the President personally attacked Gov. Romney rather than speaking to his own record and achievements simply because he has failed and has no positive record to repeat….Gov. Romney stated to the President that attacking him personally was not an agenda, but the President could offer no more….in President Reagan’s words, are you better off now than you were 4 years ago?? That would be a resounding NO and we cannot afford another 4 years of failed promise, failed changes and no hope…..definitely time for a Romney / Ryan administration…..God bless America…..

    1.  Your not better off than four years ago because it took a lot more than the 8 years of Bush to sell out our industrial base. The US has been in decline for decades because of the lack of effective leadership that focused on investment and education. Bush was the straw that broke the camels back but it had been coming for a long time.

Canada has few of the economic problems we do. Germany is increasing exports and now bailing out all of Europe. They have unions, high taxes and medical care for everyone. Their welfare costs are almost twice what ours are yet their economy is healthy.

Business is a function of investment, innovation and market share. If taxes and regulation were as big a factor as some believe than we would be seeing a huge increase in business and jobs. But were not…because they are not.

  42. I personally would have liked to see Romney wipe the floor with Obama.  There were multiple places where the president was open to attack.  Many of the policies touted by Obama have been abject failures.  Obama outright lied many times.

But much of the American public has little understanding of foreign affairs and the mainstream media has done nothing to change that ignorance.  In fact, the mainstream media has done everything possible to support the weak and useless policies of the Obama administration.  Foreign press in particular has been unrelenting in it’s criticism of Obama policies and his weak, ineffectual, and inconsistent foreign policy.  But you would never know that by listening to the American mainstream media.

If Romney had gone on the attack then he would have appeared unpresidential and allowed Obama to portray him as a warmongering hawk on foreign policy.   Good job Romney.

    1.  Romney and the republican’s are warmongering hawks just like Bush was.

This is a choice to return to the policies of Bush and the republican’s. You already know what it will look like because it will be exactly the same or worse.

      1. And we are SO much better off with the weak foreign policy under Obama where Islamic fundamentalists are taking over much of the middle east, where Iran will get nuclear weapons, and Americans are being murdered with impunity.

        Sarcasm Intended.

        1.  President Obama’s foreign policy is a continuation of Bush’s. I wish it were not so, but it is.
He at least did what Bush either couldn’t or wouldn’t do by taking out OBL. The fact is that Obama is giving the people what they want. If there was any will to return to the “mind your own business” foreign policy that existed up until WW2, Obama would do it.

News flash, Islamic fundamentalism has been a force in the middle east the same as Christianity is a part of the west. We have our own extremists right here in the US who have caused far more damage, loss of life and economic handicapping. In the last few decades the US and the west have been responsible for MILLIONS of deaths. We have spent trillions of dollars and what do we have to show for it? Our own economy suffers from lack of investment and the diverting of money away from markets where it would produce sustainable value.

Ultimately governments will have to sit down and negotiate what is in their own best interests. That process will happen. The choice is to make it happen without all the death and destruction. It is in our interests to explore diplomatic solutions to conflicts and live up to our own claims of being a peaceful nation.

The choice is and always has been guns or butter. The fact that American’s sit back and accept over a trillion dollars per year spent on the military without demanding to know what threat does this meet? What does “projecting strength” even mean?

The only threat to the US is economic. If you took the time to research the Libya situation you might learn that Gaddafi had obtained agreements with several important African countries to demand gold for oil which was a direct attack on the dollar. The EU and all of the current Asian economic agreements are aimed at getting free of the dollar which the US uses to control global economic markets.

The irony is that these same market manipulations are depriving American’s of the ability to thrive economically. I know lots of people who have done all the right things yet are deprived of opportunity. Even the people who have jobs go to work each and every day under a cloud of fear that they will be next on the list for downsizing.

This is complicated stuff. I’ll simplify it for you. Romney and the republican’s will do what they have been doing for decades; mining the value of America, demanding that American’s work harder for less and using the military and the dollar to control markets.

Does it ever occur to you that the exact same psy-ops that the CIA uses to destabilize countries that don’t cooperate with the US is being used against you? It appears to be working.

    1. Such biased campaign coverage from your stations.  They have no shame.  News casters are to report News as Fact.  But the spin they add is pure horse pee.  PBS should get NO GOVT> funding.  Not when they clearly show their political side.  I resent that my taxes have to pay to hear their left wing views, this usually turn it off.  The Left would be all over PBS is pbs swung to the Right……………..I grew up in a CBS affiliate family and had I known then what I know now about CBS, I would have  begged my dad to get rid of the stations.  The Real question remains to be seen and hope it will be exposed, is where the money from outside the USA is channeled to try and buy Obama 4 more years.   NOW THAT would be NEWS .

      1. Sweetheart, those are polls. Polls are when you ask people questions and then measure their responses. The public is sharing their opinion, and the majority think that Obama won the night.

        1. Firs I am no sweetheart.  The majority of the Left will forever believe the pablum they are fed on MSNBC and CNN and the Alphabet channels.  There is always another view and then some.   Not to cramp your style but you really should read other news sources.  Interesting what is said in Europe about the politics here.  But that you may never know if you simply stick to American biased news.  Chris Matthews comes to mind in the nasty rant of accusations about Racial suggestions in the most negative.  Anyone who can watch and believe him should have their head examined.

          1. Sweetheart, it has nothing to do with sources. They’re not bringing a story. They’re conducting a poll and publishing the results. Get out of your echo chamber and quit denying the facts you don’t like don’t exist.

  43. Obama went a on a diatribe for 2 minutes about terrorism and Chinese tires when he was posed the question about what is the biggest threat to national security. Not once did he mention Iran nukes or our national debt.

And Obama did try to keep troops in Iraq with a status of forces agreement which he failed to achieve.

    Sorry, you lose.

  45. Once in office Obama continued many of the Bush foreign policies, like the drone program and the Iraq withdrawal. Why would you expect Romney to disagree with the use of drones?

Agreement is not a bad thing, even though liberals have shown a distaste for it over the last 4 years.

    1.  Obama continued the drone attacks because that is what the American people demanded.

The republican’s are attacking him in spite  of his aggressive foreign policy. It would only give the republican’s more fuel if he did anything less.

The US did very well minding it’s own business for the first 200 years. We are not the worlds police nor should we carry the burden. This is all driven by American hubris and the military industrial complex.

  46.  Bain capital –“Intercivic, a company that owns the notoriously faulty electronic
voting machines that will count the ballots in swing state Ohio November

    1.  Even ThinkProgress, one of the most respected far left liberal organizations, if there is such a thing, is saying that is nonsense. Intercivic machines are only being used in 2 of Ohio’s 88 counties and in limited numbers in other states. Their machine have been certified by the U.S. Election Assistance Commission. I’d be more worried about Diebold machines, which have a far worse history of inaccuracy, that are used in a majority of states and are owned by Canadian company Dominion Voting Systems, and the Spanish vote tabulating company SCYTL  which uses software developed by Obama donor David Condon.
      http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/10/22/1059171/why-romney-isnt-rigging-the-voting-machines/?mobile=nc

  47. what happened to the romney of the republican primaries last night?  he did an about-face, negating positions he thought his right wing base wanted to hear.

  48.  Clinton started off broke not like Mr.Silver Spoon.Clinton is in demand around the world for speaking engagements, etc as well as helping mankind.Mitt was a disaster in Europe.Enough said about that.

    1. Bill Clinton loves his money.  So why is it okay for him to make tons of bucks and not any Republican.  Tit for Tat……….sorry bubba

        1. Oh yes.  it is always the Left way or the Highway.  It IS okay for any Democrat to make millions but God help any Republican who does the same.  Talk about double standards.  You have no leg to stand on.

          1. It’s not a double standard if the situations are wildly different. Quit pretending like you’re somehow being victimized — it’s pathetic.

          2. The pathetic situation is how the sheep see only what they want to see.  Obama is so happy to give our money to foreign countries and we do not have that money to give.  Obviously he failed at getting a balanced budget for the country.  He is basically giving our country away.  The only victims are the entire USA population.  Sorry you fail to see it.

          3. What am I failing to see? Your nonsense implication that somehow the past 4 years are the first time in history in which we’ve given foreign aid? God, get real.

          4. The USA does NOT have that extra money to give to other countries. It has to deal with the fact that our budget is in the septic. Obama cannot keep printing money. How real is that for you.

  49. Our community organizer tried a few flip comments that he evidently didn’t even know what he was saying. He looked like a petulant bully trying to put on that mad glare. Romney controlled the debate and kept bringing the economy in and Obama was frustrated he couldn’t get Romney angry. Imagine Debby I know Nothing Schultz tried to say Romney NEVER mentioned Israel. These people are desperate and will lie outright about anything. They say Chrissy The Racist King Mathews was screaming racism all night. All in all, Romney Mitt slapped Obama and never gave him the opening he was drooling for. The community organizer will soon be able to proceed with his former job again. Maybe he can sell contraceptives to Sandra Fluke.
