DEXTER – James E. “Bud” Nichols, 83, died Oct. 13, 2012, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 21, 1929, in Monticello, a son of Paul and Vera (Hutchinson) Nichols.
He graduated from Ricker Classical Institute, class of 1948. Bud owned and operated James E. Nichols & Sons Trucking Co. He was a member and deacon at First Baptist Church, Dexter, and will be remembered for his storytelling.
He is survived by his wife, Katherine of Dexter; two sons and their wives, Douglas and LaDonna Nichols of Dexter and James E. and Cindy Nichols of Ripley; a daughter, Anne and husband, Neil Clukey, of Dexter; a sister, Vesta and husband, Ronald Porter, of Hermon; five stepchildren, 16 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, and many special friends.
There will be no visiting hours. A graveside funeral and committal service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, with the Rev. Jay Brennan officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 573, Dexter, ME 04930. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Dexter.
