June M. Proulx

HAMPDEN – June McCollor Proulx, 81, passed away peacefully Oct. 11, 2012, at a Bangor health care facility. June was born Jan. 30, 1931, in Solon, to Wayne R. and Laura G. (Willett) McCollor.

June grew up and was educated in Solon. She worked as a hairdresser for several years before becoming a permanent, part-time substitute teacher for SAD 22, Hampden, all while raising her family. She was an active community member and was involved in Hampden Garden Club, Hampden Historical Society and Hampden Highlands United Methodist Church. June was a talented artist, craftsperson and a wonderful seamstress. She was particularly fond of her Irish heritage and eventually became an Irish citizen. June will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

June is survived by her loving husband, Richard F. Proulx of Hampden; daughters, Kathleen Walton of Orono and Cynthia J. Proulx of Brewer; grandchildren, Emily Walton of Brookline, Mass., and Samuel Walton of Charlottesville, Va.; and brothers, Wendell McCollor and wife, Leni, of North Yarmouth and Paul McCollor and wife, Dianne, of Farmingdale. June was predeceased by her parents; and brother, Richard McCollor.

In keeping with June’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral services. Interment will be private at Lakeview Cemetery, Hampden. Arrangements entrusted to Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. Messages of condolence and memories may be shared through
