Florence Elizabeth Davis

TUCSON – Florence Elizabeth Davis Kittredge, 98, died peacefully Oct. 5, 2012, at Tucson Medical Center Hospice. She was born Aug. 2, 1914, in Ellsworth, to William M. and Mabel (Giles) Davis, the oldest of five children.
A 1931 Ellsworth High School graduate, she married Russell M. Kittredge, in 1937. She retired from employment with Maine State Employment Security Commission in 1974, spending many winters in Florida and summers at her family’s beloved camp on Beech Hill Pond in Otis. Since 2000, she was well cared for in independent and assisted living at Atria Campana del Rio Tucson. She was a long standing member of First Congregational Church, Hancock County Extension Service, Maine State Employees Association, life member of Order of Eastern Star, and an officer of Cordelia Stanwood Bird Club.
This loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend was predeceased by her husband of 52 years; son, Charles; brother, William Davis; and sister, Rita Welch. Florence is survived by son, Dr. John Kittredge and Carol of Tucson, Ariz.; sisters, Annie P. Huggins of Bucksport, and Sylvia D. Pierce and Harrison of North Stonington, Conn.; sister-in-law, Elsie R. Davis of Ellsworth; daughter-in-law, Donna B. Kittredge of Palmetto, Fla.; grandchildren, Crichton Kittredge and Brenda of San Francisco, Russa Langpap and Christian of Corvallis, Ore., Olivia Kittredge and Rebecca of Berkeley, Calif., Claramond Bisho and Nicholas of Lafayette, Calif., Clive Kittredge and Jennifer of Santa Cruz, Calif., Jill Kittredge of Albuquerque, N.M., and Suzanne Kittredge and Art Loya of Corrales, N.M.; 11 great-grandchildren, three stepgranddaughters; numerous nieces, including special nieces, Sally Jordan and Jane Sterritt, nephews and cousins. She will be missed by many.
Burial service and celebration of life to be held in the summer of 2013 at Forest Hill Cemetery, Lamoine. Memorial gifts may be made to Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary, Birdsacre, P.O. Box 485, Ellsworth, ME; or Ellsworth Public Library, 20 State St., Ellsworth, ME 04605. Cremation services provided by Heather Mortuary, Tucson, Ariz.
