William B. Crooker

BRADFORD, R.I. – William B. Crooker, 57, beloved husband of Mary (DiGangi) Crooker and formerly of Franklin, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012. Born in Bath, he was a son of Yvonne “Angie” Crooker of Hope Valley, R.I., and the late Howard B. Crooker.
Bill was employed at Fibrelite, Pawcatuck, Conn. A U.S. Navy veteran, he was uniquely skilled in many trades and was foremost a master carpenter and boat builder. While a resident of Maine, he worked for Hinckley Co., Able Marine and Morris Yacht, and often accompanied his wife while she worked and fundraised during her employ with Lucky 99 Radio, Ellsworth. Bill was also a member of Ellsworth Assembly of God, where he was a deacon. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandsons, whom he cherished.
In addition to his wife and mother, he leaves a daughter, Tammy Hogan Herman of Westerly, R.I.; brothers, Jon Crooker and wife, Beth, of Hope Valley, R.I., and Michael Crooker and wife, Cindy, of Ashaway, R.I.; grandchildren, Michael Herman Jr. and Brenton Herman, both of Westerly, R.I.; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by a brother, James Crooker.
Visiting hours will be held noon-2p.m. Tuesday at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly, R.I. A funeral service with full military honors will take place 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be private.
