OLD TOWN – Therese Roy, 82, died peacefully Oct. 1, 2012, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Oct. 25, 1929, in St. Rose de Watford, Quebec, a daughter of Joseph and Josephine (Bouffard) Gilbert.
Therese and her husband, Clement, moved in 1952 from Canada to Old Town, where they raised their four sons. She never stopped puttering and loved to keep her house in immaculate order, inside and out. She was an excellent seamstress, and an accomplished artist and enjoyed to paint outdoor landscapes. She loved nature, animals and the outdoors. She was a devoted and loving mother and wife.
She is survived by four sons, Philip Roy and his wife, Peggy, of Milford, Michael Roy and his wife, Lainie, of Bradley, Charlie Roy and his companion, Sara Roy, and Mark Roy, all of Greenfield; six grandchildren, Kelly Roy, Joanna Campbell, Derik Roy, Cassie Roy, Ashley Loyte and Tyler Loyte; three great-grandchildren, Aiden, Landen and Keira; two brothers, Paul Emile Gilbert of Canada and Pierre Gilbert and his wife, Ange-Aimee, of Old Town; and two sisters, Ann Marie Jacques and Marguerite Gratton, both of Canada. She was predeceased by her husband, Clement Roy, May 22, 2011; daughter-in-law, Cindy Roy; and by two brothers, Arthur and Philippe Gilbert. The family thanks Westgate Manor for their wonderful and compassionate care given to their mother during the past three years.
There will be no public visitation services. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Interment will be after at Milford Cemetery. Immediately after all services, all are invited to return to Holy Family Parish Center for a light luncheon and continued fellowship.
