Fun Run and Walk to support classroom projects

HAMPDEN, Maine — The SAD 22 Education Foundation will sponsor its third annual 5K Fun Run and 1-Mile Walk, “Making Tracks For Teachers,” 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, George B. Weatherbee Elementary School. Registration will begin at 8:15 a.m.

The event will fund projects and classroom initiatives throughout the district that would not be possible with current school budgets.

“Our annual Fun Run and Walk is a major fundraiser for the Mini-Grants Program for district teachers,” said Robin Wood, vice president of the Foundation and co-chair of the grants committee. “The funds we raise with this race will allow us to award grants to district teachers for spring semester projects.”

The event will conclude Hampden Academy’s Homecoming Week and will include a special prize for the first Hampden Academy alumnus to finish the race. The course includes a loop around the new Hampden Academy.

Walkers and runners may register in advance by downloading a registration form from the at msad22foundation.org. The cost is $12, $15 the day of the race; and $30 family, $35 day of the race. Advance registration deadline is Monday, Oct. 1.

The first 50 registrants will receive T-shirts. Prizes will be awarded to the top finishers in each division.
