Geneva L. Sylvester

BELFAST – Geneva L. Sylvester, 77, passed away Sept. 21, 2012, in Belfast. She was born Nov. 10, 1934, in Ellsworth, to Howard Eugene Young and Julie Kathleen (Gray) Young.

She was 1953 class president at George Stevens Academy, Blue Hill. She married Stephen Billings Sylvester, May 5, 1956. Geneva was an avid camper, a Cub Scout leader and member of Order of the Eastern Star. She was also a reading aide at Eastside School, Belfast, for many years.

She was predeceased by her parents; her husband; brother, Neil Young; and beloved son, Eugene Sylvester. Survivors include her children, Andrew Sylvester and wife, Susan, of Livermore, and Benjamin Sylvester and wife, Gail, of Alaska; daughters-in-law, Ann Sylvester of Lewiston and Michelle Sylvester of Newport; sister, Joan Tyler and husband, Gary, of Northeast Harbor; grandchildren, Tricia, Janelle, Allyson, Audrey, Stephen, Sarah and Kayla; and special friends, Pat and Floyd Clark.

Family and friends are invited to call 10-11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast, where funeral service will begin 11 a.m. Burial will afterward at South Blue Hill Cemetery, Blue Hill.
