MILO and CHAPPAQUA, N.Y. – D. Beverly (Robertson) Burton
Milo and Chappaqua, N.Y. – D. Beverly Burton, 74, beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend, ended her journey on earth, going on to her blessed eternal life, Sept. 23, 2012, in Atkinson. The eighth of nine children, she was born Nov. 12, 1937, in Dos Palos, Calif., daughter of Ollie and Gladys (Glandon) Robertson.
Beverly had lived in Milo and then in Chappaqua, N.Y., for many years and spent her last days on the farm at her granddaughter’s home in Atkinson. After high school, Beverly served her country as an air traffic controller with the U.S. Air Force. Beverly had a warm sense of humor and a very giving heart, often sacrificing her own needs to help others. She loved old country music, and wrote her own special songs. She enjoyed traveling and adding to her various collections. Her very strong faith in Jesus Christ was with her throughout her life.
She is survived by a daughter, Merry Burton of Milo; a son, Scott Burton of Milo; three grandchildren, Casey Herbest and her husband, Shane, and their son, Peyton James Herbest, all of Milo, Tiffany Burton and her fiance, Glenn Severance, of Atkinson, and Brittny Robinson of Milo; two brothers, Bobby Robertson and his wife, Rose, Ervin Robertson and his wife, Edith, all of California; a sister, Betty Robertson; and a special sister-in-law, Cupie Robertson, both of California; and many special nieces and nephews. She will be fondly remembered by Saundra, Donald and Peter Curry of Chappaqua, N.Y., and dear friends, Thelma McKusick and George and Cathy Rideout. Beverly was predeceased by her parents; four brothers, James, Alvin, Calvin “Leo,” and Leslie Robertson; a sister, June Ewing Jones; and a special niece, Rita Koepsel.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted noon Wednesday, Sept. 26, at North Atkinson Cemetery with Gail Januskiewicz officiating.
