CHARLESTON – James “Jimmy” L. McArthur, 42, died Sept. 16, 2012, due to complications from surgery at a Bangor hospital. He was born Feb. 15, 1970, in New London, Conn., to Freemond and Ruth (McAlpine) McArthur.
Jim did several different types of work, but most enjoyed a job that let him be outside. He was a die-hard Red Sox fan and celebrated the most when they beat the Yankees. He also enjoyed any activity that let him play in the mud, playing poker or having a bonfire with his friends and family. He also loved his cats, all six of them, and would also feed any stray kitty that crossed his path. What he enjoyed most was spending time doing anything or nothing with his wife, Jobi, the love of his life for more than 14 years. Jim and Jobi were married June 10, 2000.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Roberta “Jobi” Merchant McArthur; two sons, Joseph and Joshua McArthur; a stepdaughter, Erika Brooks; sisters, Tina Shaw and her husband, Dan, and Wendy McArthur; brother, Keith McArthur; several half brothers, half sisters, stepbrothers and stepsisters too many to mention, but they were all family to him; several nieces and nephews; and a granddaughter, Peyton.
A gathering of remembrance will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at Corinth Snowmobile Club. All are welcomed. Those who wish to remember Jim in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Bangor Humane Society, 693B Mount Hope Ave., Bangor, ME 04401.
