Reta J. Ewings

BRIDGEWATER – Reta J. Ewings, 91, passed away Thursday, Aug. 30, 2012, at The Aroostook Medical Center, Presque Isle. She was born in Derby, the daughter of Harry and Julia (Bragg) Ewings.

She was an elementary school teacher, she taught first at a one-room school house behind Mars Hill Mountain, and then at Bridgewater Elementary School for 30 years.

She is survived by two nephews and their wives, Howard and Jean MacPherson of Bridgewater and John and Betty MacPherson of Bellingham, Mass.; a niece, Reta Hersey and her husband, Harlan, of Bridgewater; several other nieces and nephews; and a special roommate, Pat Buchanan at Aroostook Health Center, Mars Hill. She was predeceased by three brothers, Harry Jr., Ralph and Adrian; and three sisters, Birdena Tapley, Doris Kimball and Mildred MacPherson.

Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, at Duncan Funeral Home, 8 Main St., Mars Hill. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, at Bridgewater Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Matthew Farkas officiating. Interment will be after the service at Smith Cemetery, Bridgewater. Donations may be made in her memory to Bridgewater Pentecostal Church, P.O.
