EAST MACHIAS – Peter Allan Hanson, 78, died unexpectedly Aug. 8, 2012, at his home. He was born Dec. 3, 1933, in Boston, son of the late Richard and Ethel (Ganong) Hanson.
He was a graduate of Boston Technical High School and later went to serve his country in the U.S. Coast Guard, first being stationed in Boston and later in Cutler at Little River Lighthouse. It was at this time he met the love of his life, Dolores Scoville. He then worked many years in the Boston area in graphic arts, finishing his career as vice president for ACME Northeast. He enjoyed classical music, reading and carpentry.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Dolores (Scoville) Hanson; a sister, Phyllis Wilson of Merrimack, N.H.; a brother, Richard N. Hanson of Salisbury, Md.; two brothers-in-law, Nard Scoville and wife, Ina, of East Machias and Clark Scoville and wife, Maddy, of Roque Bluffs; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his faithful Sheltie, “Jake.” In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Robert.
Graveside memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at New Cutler Cemetery with Pastor Bill Holmes officiating.
