DOVER, N.H. — Richard Connor, former publisher and editor of newspapers in Maine, has been named chief executive officer of Foster’s Daily Democrat in Dover, N.H.
Connor stepped down last year from MaineToday Media, which operates the Portland Press Herald-Maine Sunday Telegram, Kennebec Journal in Augusta, Morning Sentinel in Waterville and the Coastal Journal in Bath as well as digital properties.
Connor was part of an investment group that purchased the Maine media properties in 2009. He left the company and MaineToday Media is now owned primarily by S. Donald Sussman.
Foster’s president and publisher, Patrice D. Foster, said Connor has more than 40 years of media experience and appreciates the challenges and opportunities of family-owned newspapers.
I wonder why he would leave a massive news business here in Maine, for a little old paper in NH. Could it have something to do with that liberal wack job who owns it now?
Not at all, please read comment above. He runs a paper like its 1974. Well guess what the internet changes everything and tablet computing just changes it some more. This guy is a blow hard who likes to spend other peoples money and apparently could care less who gets hurt along the way.

This guy did a great job while in Portland and obviously couldn’t turn the financial corner fast enough for the LBO guys. Kind of like running ahead of a steamroller. He’ll do well in NH.
Your kidding right??!!! This “report” is so glossed over and devoid of fact hard to believe the AP would put it out. He basically ran those papers into the ground. slashing prices, not paying bills , selling all the assets and not paying back personal loans,transferring property into his wife’s name all things people do to cover their tracks. He cut jobs until the content was so devoid of news its a shell of its former self. Papers are trying to figure their future out and this guy is a dinosaur.Without Sussman $$$ they were going to file for bankruptcy. A leopard doesn’t change its stripes. Fosters will no doubt regret this.
