BEATRICE M. (PREBLE) HAMILTON

HERMON – Beatrice M. (Preble) Hamilton died July 2, 2012, at a Gorham health care facility. Beatrice was born Sept. 20, 1927, in Brewer, daughter of Robert R. and Waite M. (Maddocks) Preble of Hampden.

She attended Hampden schools and graduated from Hampden Academy, class of 1945. She was employed as a legal secretary and later as a medical secretary for many years in the Bangor area. At the time of her death, she was a member of Hermon Historical Society.

Beatrice was predeceased by her beloved parents; and husband, Clarence A. Hamilton. She is survived by her brother, Robert J. Preble and wife, Lois, of Ellsworth, and Charles A. Preble and wife, Mary-Jane, of Falmouth; two special nieces, Deborah F. Preble of Ellsworth and Lynn A. Preble of Portland, Ore.; two special nephews, Carl S. Preble and wife, Neola, of Henderson, Nev., and Christopher A. Preble and wife, Krista, of Leesburg, Va.; two beloved great-nephews, Benjamin Preble of Nevada and Alexander of Virginia; two beloved great-nieces, Victoria of New York and Katelyn of Virginia; as well as several cousins in Maine and Florida. Beatrice’s family thanks Gorham House for their wonderful and compassionate care during Bea’s stay.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mount Vernon Road, Augusta. Those who wish may make memorial contributions in Bea’s honor to a charity of one’s choice. Cremation arrangements entrusted to Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden.
