SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine — Two Maine teenagers have been selected during the second day of the NHL draft.
Eighteen-year-old Brian Hart of Cumberland was taken in the second round with the 53rd pick by the Tampa Bay Lightning as the draft selection continued Saturday in Pittsburgh. Hart, who plays right wing, formerly played for Greely High School and has been at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire the past two years. He will attend Harvard University this fall.
The Calgary Flames chose goalie Jon Gillies in the third round with the 75th pick.
The 18-year-old Gillies is from South Portland and spent the past two years with the Indiana Ice of the United States Hockey League. He plans to attend Providence College for his freshman year this fall.

Goalie’s. Where the ‘real offense’ begins !!!!!!!!!
Congratulations and good luck Jon and Brian!
Now dont screw it up by thinking you are better then everyone else and go crazy drinking overly and doing stupid things in College. Congrats and remember where you came from !!! Study hard still because the next day you could get hurt. You need a back up plan!!!
UMaine Recruits Drafted: Devin Shore F/2nd Rd.-61st player taken…..Ben Hutton D/5th Rd.-147th player taken.
I wonder if Tim Whitehead tried recruiting either of these two young men. Best wishes to them both regardless. Unlike Harvard, Providence is an accredited institution
