BREWER – Ruth Townsend died peacefully May 23, 2012. She was born March 30, 1939, in Roanoke, Va.
She went to school in Roanoke, Va., graduating with honors. Ruth attended Duke and Emery universities before starting her career as a Girl Scout director. She answered her calling by going into teaching, which she did for most of her life. Most recently, at the University of Maine, she was the director of student teaching and assisting schools as curriculum coordinator in Bangor and Brewer. She was also an adjunct professor at the University of Maine.
Ruth will be missed by her partner of 45 years, Connie Morris; as well as friends and family. Ruth is survived by one sister, four brothers, and 17 nieces and nephews.
