BANGOR, Maine — A local woman is facing a felony charge after Bangor police Officer Taylor Bagley noticed an idling car early Friday morning near the intersection of Main and Cedar streets and followed it when “it kind of took off,” Sgt. Paul Edwards said Monday.
“She was parked on the side of the road with the lights on at 2 a.m.” near the police station, the sergeant said.
Tammy Bragdon, 43, of Bangor was pulled over on First Street by Bagley. She was arrested and charged with operating under the influence and felony aggravated operating a vehicle after habitual offender license revocation. The felony charge was lodged because “she has priors,” Edwards said.
Bragdon was convicted in January 2010 of operating a vehicle while her license was suspended or revoked and violating conditions of her release, according to Bangor Daily News archives. The next month she was convicted of operating a vehicle while under influence of intoxicants.
She also was convicted of unlawful possession of scheduled drugs in April 2006, the BDN listings state.
Bragdon was taken to the Penobscot County Jail after her arrest on Friday and was released, a jail official said. She could face up to five years in prison and a fine of $5,000 if convicted on the felony charge.

We need stiffer penalties for drunk drivers. Maybe seize the car they’re driving? No matter how many times you suspend/revoke their license they still get behind the wheel. It’s only a matter of time before they kill someone.
I agree……the penalties aren’t enough. My question is………….how do you stop someone that can’t think straight to begin with? That’s the whole reason they are behind the wheel of the car, is that they didn’t think straight, they are drunk!!! I would agree with taking the car and giving it to college students and or someone with a job!!
College students? Really?

Some states make the drunk put a breathilizer in the car. They have to blow into it to start the car. If they are drunk the car won’t start, sober, away you go. They have to pay for the machine and installation themselves and are required to have it for whatever number of years the court says is necessary. If caught using someone else’s car. Jail time.
There’s always a way around everything, unfortunately. There’s no way to be sure a DUI won’t operate a motor vehicle short of cutting off their arms and legs. All a DUI has to do is make sure he/she has a passenger along who’s sober to blow the analyzer.
Seize the car? Don’t you think if someone wants to get into a car and drive bad enough they will find someone else’s car to drive? And what if the car that person is driving doesn’t belong to them? Would you like to have your car seized because you lent it to someone that decided to be irresponsible with it?
Maybe Maine could issue an ID for people with OUIs, obviously revoke their license, but have an id issued with some kind of stamp prohibiting them from buying/ consuming alcohol. It wont stop others from buying it for them…. but maybe it could work?
Or have some kind of really humiliating punishment. Like making them dress in a rainbow jumpsuit, with a sandwich board that says ‘My name is Tammy and I think it’s cool to drive drunk’ while they pick up trash.
Personally, I’d like to see people convicted of drunk driving used as crash test dummies.
alcohol monitoring bracelets
Have no fear, the “SYSTEM” will give her 5 days and $50.00, suspended…
She will be out plenty of time to do it again. Once is too much, but again and again is just stupidity on the part of the drunk and our Justice system.
She should be given the electric chair just for not having her make up on at that time of morning. I mean Really?
