KENNETH L. BOOBER

GREENVILLE and ORLAND – Kenneth L. Boober, 91, died Jan. 7, 2012, at Charles A. Dean Hospital, Greenville. He was born Dec. 25, 1920, in Howland, son of Everett and Margarett (Arthurs) Boober.

He graduated from Bucksport High School. During World War II Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed aboard the carrier, Belleau Wood in the Pacific. Kenneth was a retiree of 44 years at Champion Paper Co. and received his 55-year pin in 2007 from the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Ken was an active member and past master of Rising Sun Lodge AF & AM No. 71, Orland, and received his 50-year medal in 2009. He was also a member of Riverside Chapter of Order of the Eastern Star, Orland, and was a past grand high priest of the state of Maine. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and in his retirement years enjoyed sailing and walking.

He was predeceased by his wife, Esther (Rosebush) Boober; and daughter, Betty. He is survived by daughters, Jane Babbidge and Jeanne Wells; grandchildren, Ron and Jason Babbidge and Nearess Wells; stepchildren, Barbara Ashey and Fred Hilterbrand; stepgrandchildren, Jeff and Scott Ashey, and Matt and Frank Hilterbrand; and numerous great-grandchildren.
