CORINTH, Maine — Maine State Police are on the lookout for a woman who robbed a pharmacy here Wednesday night and got away with what was described as a large amount of OxyContin.

The robbery occurred about 6:45 p.m. at Community Pharmacy, located inside of Whitney’s Family Supermarket. Formerly known as Tradewinds Marketplace, the complex is located at 689 Main St., state police Trooper Jared Stedman said early Thursday morning.

In an update issued Thursday afternoon, state police Lt. Wesley Hussey said the robber presented a note stating that she had a weapon and would shoot if the clerk went anywhere near a telephone. A weapon was never displayed, he said.

The suspect is believed to have climbed into a light-colored sedan after she left the drugstore, Stedman said.

Hussey said the getaway car appears to be a Chrysler Sebring convertible, based on surveillance video. The car last was seen heading north, toward Dover-Foxcroft, he said. It was not clear whether there were other people in the car.

Stedman said the suspect is described as standing between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 5 inches tall. Despite initial reports that she weighed about 200 pounds, he said, the suspect likely weighed between 140 and 160 pounds.

She appeared to be heftier because she was wearing several layers of clothing, including two dark-colored hooded sweatshirts, with the hood of one of them pulled up tightly over her head and covering most of her face.

The robber also was wearing what appeared to be a red or maroon men’s flannel jacket with gray striping that created a block pattern as well as brown men’s gloves, black sneakers and bluejeans.

Anyone with information about the robbery or the suspect should contact Stedman or Trooper Tucker Bonnevie at the Orono barracks of the Maine State Police at 866-2121.

  1. So many robberies the last few months. I get nervous when I walk into a bank or pharmacy hoping it isn’t being robbed. Very glad that nobody has gotten hurt.

  2. Come on people put up a photo, between the external cameras and the ones planted in the pharmacy there must be a good mug shot

  3. Large amount of drugs ??
Who is the FOOL that gave it all away ??
Fill the thieves bag with Aspirin or Midol or Ex-Lax or  something.
    Anything.

I wonder what the company policy is??
Its clearly lacking in some areas.

    1.  Why should  the pharmacist or technician place their life on the line
and refuse to hand over the  drugs??  Bottom line: If you are being
robbed, give them what they want. It’s not worth anyone’s life. Trust
me, these people know exactly what their oxy etc. tablets are supposed to look like.

    2.  What if they figure out the deception by the time they get to the front check out counter? Then they can take out their anger on some minumum wage high school kid right?

  5. Lets see give them a pill that looks like the pill that they think they are getting. Hmm…….Then when they take said pill or sell them and nothing happens. Who ya  gonna call.

  6. This scourge is deeply entrenched in our communities…..it appears to know no age nor socioeconomic boundaries. The desire for these products are too overwhelming for these people to overcome. I’m sorry, but I think we have lost part of a generation.

  7. I think that pfizer should make a fake oxy to combat this problem, have it loaded full of arsenic and when they crush it up in snort it will kill them. One less addict that is refusing to seek help in this world.
