BANGOR, Maine — A Veazie man was behind bars Tuesday after police charged him in connection with an armed robbery at a Bangor hotel last week.
Jeffrey Denis, 31, was arrested at his residence at 9 a.m. by Bangor police Detectives Tim Cotton and Brent Beaulieu along with officers from Veazie, Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards said.
On Dec. 21, a man entered the Fairfield Inn on Odlin Road, brandished a firearm and took off with an undisclosed amount of money just after 9:30 p.m., according to police. He subsequently fled on foot, and a police K-9 unit tracked him, but he got away at the time.
Denis was charged with Class A felony robbery and taken to the Penobscot County Jail, where he remained Tuesday afternoon, according to Edwards.
If convicted, Denis faces up to 40 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
