AMESBURY, Mass. – Mrs. Janice E. (Sheehan) Atkins, 75, formerly of Ward Hill, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 16, 2011, at Amesbury Village, Amesbury, Mass. She was born Dec. 31, 1935, in Bangor, daughter of the late Harold and Anna (Rush) Sheehan.

Educated in the Bangor school system, Mrs. Atkins earned her nursing degree from Mercy Hospital, Portland. For more than 25 years she was employed in the emergency room of Hale Hospital, where she retired from in the early 1990s as a supervisor.

She was the wife of the late Alan Atkins, who died in 1964. Her survivors include three sons, Alan Atkins and Richard Atkins, both of Detroit, and Stephen Atkins of Silver Spring, Md.; sister, Ann and her husband, Ronald Atkins, of New Lebanon, N.H.; granddaughter, Rebeka Atkins of Tampa, Fla.; six nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her memorial service 4 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at H.L. Farmer & Sons Bradford Funeral Home, 210 South Main St., Bradford, Mass., where a visitation period will precede the service 2-4 p.m. Friday.
